Such a cool project place. Built around a tree in a way that you really feel like you are dining in a nature. Great food and the service was fantastic. read more

This has such a lovely, unique ambience. It is quite cozy, vibrant, and full of character. It does get crowded, and the service can be on the slower side, but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. In the summer, the live music is a real highlight. Watching locals dance and enjoying the community vibe is such a fun, memorable experience. Food-wise, the green curry bowl with shrimp was amazing. It was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly comforting. A great community spot with lots of charm! read more

On tues Aug 18/26 My daughter and I thought we would try the cafe for lunch based on great reviews. Our experience was a major disappointment. We sat for an hour and a half waiting for our food. New tables sat down around us, ordered and ate. Our server offered 'there was a slip up'. (Likely she forgot to order our food). No real explanation or ownership of the problem was shared. There was no offer to even comp our coffees. Clearly not a professional server. Very unfortunate experience. read more

We enjoyed a magical evening here with friends. The live music was excellent and perform listening and conversation. The ambience is definitely part of the charm--open skied, tree trunk and branches, walls and windows to shelter us from the wind. Treehouse indeed! Our sever was stellar--knowledgeable, funny, and totally on it. Credit to the kitchen, too, for cranking out piping hot food. This place is a well-oiled machine... with a big heart. The food: --Thai curry chicken was the big winner --cheese burger and fries were on point --chicken sandwich was great; fresh salad was wonderful --grilled salmon was overcooked. Bummer. We'll be back for more (but, I'll get a burger instead of overcooked salmon). read more

Service was great fast and kind. The food tasted fresh and amazing exactly like I expected. The tree house design with the leaves made me feel so cozy like I was in an actual tree house. There were some cobwebs on the roof but that's ok read more

Okay, this was our favorite eatery in Ganges. Very large portions (should have split one sandwich between us). Very tasty, fresh veggies with the fries really good. We were there for lunch. Had the Polar Bear Hot Chocolate (spiked) - very yummy. Get a reservation. Eat here, excellent service. read more

My lattes usually hit the spot. When I dine-in food is well cooked. Usually busy so I try and take out as much as I can.

Treehouse Salt Spring Island is terrible customer service, ultra slow, order was wrong ^ long wait time even with plenty of open tables ( likely due to their service!). Not even all organic they tout. Very ironic that they have pesticide laden ketchup, but supposedly ' organi' lettuce.. The wait time got worse when they saw we were not ordering pricey drinks. We noticed this same service change when the family beside of us did the same. read more

It's such a cute and unique restaurant. The restaurant itself is built around a tree and can seat more people than you would initially think. They have indoor and outdoor seating. If you sit outside be prepared for a collection of sparrows asking for your bread and crackers. They are super cute . The staff are warm and friendly. When asking for the vegan options they were helpful and understanding. The timing of everything was quick, but not rushed. We both ordered the Tofu Scramble for breakfast. It was the only real option we could order and have it made vegan. They subbed the hash browns for your choice of spiced beans or greens. We opted for the spiced beans which were incredibly tasty. The tofu scramble was quite flavorful without adding the beans or salsa that comes with the meal. And the jam was so tasty, I thought about drinking it. The toast slices were thick too. I enjoyed everything. It was a delicious health breakfast. It's found right in the heart of the island and such a wonderful treat. It'd recommend trying the place at least once read more

Absolutely LOVE this place. It was recommended and I almost skipped it because there was a long wait but I am so glad I hangryly waited. The restaurant is really small so there only so many tables. They are short staffed but everyone that worked there was so nice and tried to get things going as fast as they could. The interior is awesome with a big tree in the centre. The food...yummm. I had a hard time choosing what to order and so glad I chose the treehouse deluxe burger with their daily soup. It was a lot and I was only able to finish half the burger, saved the other half for later ;) Definitely will come back every time I'm in salt spring island! read more

Located in the heart of downtown Ganges, this eclectic eatery is well worth more than one visit. THE ROSES: Whether your arrive by car, floatplane, or private yacht, The Tree-House Cafe is easy to get to. It is both an easy walk from the local marinas, the seaplane dock, and there is plenty of free parking. Eclectic dining space with trees growing through the dining room (hence the name). Very pleasant and professional staff. Very eclectic menu that has some really unusual and delicious offerings (chicken curry bowl was just one of the stand outs). Food is very well executed, emphasizing quality local ingredients. They feature live music in the evening several nights a week. THE THORNS: Those who come to breakfast expecting traditional fare (pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy) may be disappointed. Currently not a place to come to if you're in a hurry (to be fair, they had a sign out advising patrons that due to staffing issues (which is happening all over the place due to COVID), service may be a bit leisurely. Open air environment may make this place a bit challenging on chilly days. THE VERDICT: Creative, well-prepared food and great service make this a place you will want to check out when visiting Saltspring Island. Highly recommend! read more

Such a unique little cafe with great lattes and breakfast. We were there early due to a ferry at Long Harbour and honestly this place was the only one open at 8am so we came here and glad we did. They have patio seating outside close to the marina. Sign said they have live music as well!! We had the BELT. Bacon was cooked perfectly (yes that's important! Nothing worse than undercooked bacon) This bacon was slightly crunchy but not overdone, and the bread was so fresh! Service was also very good!! read more

The food is good. The green chili curry was very good. Feels like a tree house. Live music. Service maybe as I should expect. My food choice was not as great so pick the server's brain for what is really good. read more

Favourite place on Salt Spring for food. Everything is amazing. Portions are great. Last time I was there I got the green curry bowl with tofu and it was perfection. Only downside is it's a tiny place and there might be a wait for a table but it's worth it. read more

First off, our waitress was a superstar (Tyger) She was the only one on and the service was still amazing! I had the Salmon Sandwich and the flavours were great. Looking at photos of the Tree-House online before visiting Salt Spring Island absolutely did not do it justice. On a first look basis, the concept of a tree in a cafe is quirky but not amazing - but going in there and seeing it for yourself actually it is totally amazing because that tree in the Tree-House is a BEAUTIFUL tree and it's really nice to look at AND on top of that - because of the roof not being there to accommodate the treetop, the some of the tree covered cafe seating was considered to be outdoor dining in this pandemic and it was so cozy and wonderful. The food was also quite good! My friend and I ordered the chicken shawarma and the sweet potato quesadilla to share and both items were delicious! I had no idea that sweet potato was such a tasty filler for a quesadilla - inspired me to try to recreate it at home because it was so tasty! If you're exploring Salt Spring Island, you're eventually going to find yourself in the main part of the ganges and the Tree-House cafe is RIGHT THERE and so convenient and really hard to miss. There is absolutely no reason not to go and be cozy by the beautiful tree while eating tasty food. read more

We tried this restaurant on a Saturday night. There were 6 of us in our party. We are all in our mid 50's. 5 of us ordered meals, I didn't see anything appealing on the menu and was not very hungry so opted to pass on a meal. We were all having a good time and listening to the live music. After 2 glasses of wine, I tried to order a third, but was unceremoniously told by the waitress that I was "cut off". Absolutely Outrageous! After expressing my dismay and questioning why, I was approached by a "manager" who stated that our server felt "threatened". Snowflake millennials!! I own a restaurant in Vancouver. I know how customers should be treated and I know how customers should deal with restaurant staff. The customer is not "always right" but in this case I can assure you, I most definitely was not "threatening" by any means. This was the worst restaurant experience I have EVER had. Save the "judgmental" service and opt for Moby's Pub or the Oyster Catcher for a far more enjoyable dining experience. Extremely disappointing dining experience. read more

Got the soba noodle salad. I liked how they used fresh ingredients. At first glance it didn't seem like there was much dressing, but I felt that the dressing was more on the noodles, which I actually really liked because otherwise it would have tasted like plain noodles. The peanuts could have been crushed a bit, and as someone who doesn't like red peppers, I found there to be a lot. I thought it was weird that it came with a side of naan(?) bread, but I was hungry, so I ate it. It wasn't flavoured or anything, so it seemed to be an after thought. Overall, for the price paid, I don't need to get it again. I would still recommend people go there just because it's pretty cool. read more

Always a great stop on island - Foody menu items - great music all summer and yes, you are dining under a tree...

This café is unique for the fact that there is a full size tree growing through the center of it. It actually looks as though the casual restaurant is built around the tree. As for the food, I had a delicious vegetarian curry. Too bad there wasn't enough rice in it to make it a filling meal. My son had a pita bread with melted cheese on it. Not restaurant quality but suitable for a toddler. The service was polite but casual. The meals were over $12 a plate but it is not uncommon for the tourist area. I would recommend this restaurant/café for casual dinning while visiting the island. read more

This place is awesome! Though there is sometimes a line up irig the busy season, ot is worth the wait. Two thumbs up for their burgers!

Food is delicious and ingredients are of a high caliber. The decor is super cozy and it feels really good to be inside, no matter what the weather. Breakfast is reasonably priced, but lunch and dinner do get pricey. Definitely come here for breakfast before 3pm as they stop serving then. read more

A cute restaurant on SSI by the harbour, convenient location and decent food (especially if you're vegetarian!). We had the veggie burger which was tasty but did fall apart as we went. Also had the goat cheese ball appetizers which were good because... goat cheese. There was live music which made for a fun evening but found it awkward when they came round to each table for cash tips. If you can't pay your entertainment, let them leave their tip buckets out by the stage rather than disturbing your customers at their table. read more

With the pretty plum tree close to the ocean boardwalk, The Tree House has great ambiance. But that's all. Have had a couple of decent meals over the years but will never again go there for breakfast, which my partner and I just finished. Terrible. Tofu scramble tasted like it was rolled in salt and the bacon and eggs were cold but not as cold as the hash browns. Coffee tasted like it was made the night before and warmed-up. Asked twice for unbuttered toast and was served buttered both times. Gave that up. Waitress didn't have time to bring water but sure wanted to chat when it came time to leave a tip. The place just looks cool, a two dressed up as a ten. read more

Quaint restaurant built around a tree! Had an early dinner here with the family and I ordered the portobella mushroom burger with side garden salad, hubby ordered a meat burger with side Caesar salad, and the little guy had a cheese quesadilla that came with a side of sour cream and salsa. My burger was delicious and my salad was plentiful! I poured my packed salad bowl onto my plate to mix it up and it was full. Fresh market greens as well. Nice sized kids menu which I appreciated! And crayons to colour with. Got here around 4:30pm and the wait for an inside table was around 40 minutes, so opted for one outside. Downfall is that alcohol cannot be served outside, which was a bummer but we didn't want to wait. Service was not great. The hostess was not very friendly when I asked if we could sit outside but be put on the list inside, she straight up said no. Ok. Our server didn't give us much attention either. We were never checked up on. Overall, food great and service not great. read more

This place is a gem on Salt Spring Island. We were trying to go to Bruce's Kitchen when we discovered they closed early than they said they would. Highly disappointed, I asked the locals for food recommendations and they said to go to the Tree house Cafe. It's an actual restaurant in a tree house!! The menu was cool. They use a lot of local ingredients. It wasn't too expensive. The servers are super friendly! I got the huge lamb burger with cheese on it. I've never had a lamb burger before and it was delicious! They put mango chutney on it and it went really well. It was a healthy meal as they give salad as the sides options, and no fries. I think I might have preferred fries, but the salad was really nice. It's a good place to go for live music. I also heard from the locals they're open year round! That was something I found surprising because it's an outdoor restaurant, essentially, and it gets cooooollldddd!!! and wet!!! read more

A lovely little restaurant, but a less than lovely experience. A lovely and friendly waitress seated us next to the stage. A lovely view of the tree in the middle of the tiny space. All was lovely. However, they began to set up for the stage show right after we entered - not so lovely. I totally understand that set up is required, but then it would be lovely if they didn't seat people directly next to the stage during set-up. Definitely could be handled in more of a lovely manner. Equipment impeded our lovely table and personal space. Sound checks (that lasted over 30 minutes) impeded our lovely conversation. My $16 clubhouse was served on what seemed like regular white bread. Tasted alright, but $22 for a less than lovely small clubhouse and two coffees seemed steep. All in all: Lovely little space, less than lovely meal, less than lovely experience. read more
