I arrived early for my scheduled appointment.. After waiting 25 minutes, the stylist is still late. So I left. What happened afterward is what earned this review. The owner contacted me and actually told me that she didn't think "anyone was really at fault" and characterized the situation as "the timing didn't line up well." Excuse me -- what exactly was MY fault? I arrived early. I was sitting there waiting for the appointment THEY scheduled. The stylist was 25 minutes late. There was no mutual "timing" problem and absolutely no reason to insert me into a discussion of fault. Even more audacious was suggesting that my arriving early somehow had relevance to the situation. Had I arrived at exactly my scheduled appointment time, the stylist still would have been 25 minutes late. Instead of simply taking accountability and saying, "Our stylist was late and we apologize for wasting your time," the owner attempted to repackage it as some unfortunate, neutral circumstance in which nobody was responsible. That was incredibly condescending. Being 25 minutes behind is bad enough. Trying to minimize it afterward and manufacture some bizarre suggestion of shared fault with the client who SHOWED UP is what made the experience unacceptable. My time is not less valuable because I'm the client. I was there. The stylist wasn't. That isn't a "timing issue." That IS the issue. UPDATE: The owner's response actually confirms the issue. My appointment was at 4:00, and at approximately 4:25 the stylist was still not ready for my appointment, which is why I left. I never expected to be seen during the 45 minutes I arrived early, so my arrival time before my scheduled appointment is IRRELEVANT. The issue is simply that 25 minutes AFTER my "scheduled" appointment time, my appointment still had not begun. Rather than simply taking responsibility for that delay, the response continues to emphasize that I "chose" to arrive early and "chose" to leave. Yes--I chose to leave after waiting 25 minutes beyond my scheduled appointment time while the stylist was still unavailable. read more

I had been a regular client of this salon and genuinely enjoyed coming here, so I am very disappointed by how my relationship with the salon ended. Over time, I had two concerns about billing--one involving an unexpected charge and another involving what I believed was an overcharge. I raised these concerns respectfully because I believe clients should feel comfortable asking questions about pricing and services. The situation that ultimately ended my relationship with the salon arose while I was trying to coordinate my keratin treatment and hair color, appointments I had planned well in advance. After an unexpected change to my keratin appointment, I communicated with my stylists while trying to find a solution. I genuinely did not understand that communicating with them in this way was considered outside the salon's preferred communication channels or that anyone was uncomfortable with it. My intention was simply to work out my appointments, not to cross anyone's boundaries. Once I was told there was a problem, I apologized, explained that I had not understood the salon's expectations, and assured them that I would respect those boundaries going forward. Nevertheless, all of my future appointments were cancelled and I was told that I could no longer return. I respect that salon employees are entitled to boundaries. What disappointed me was not being made aware that there was a concern earlier, when I could have understood the expectations and changed how I communicated. If a salon has specific rules about clients communicating directly with stylists outside established salon channels, I believe those rules should be clearly communicated beforehand. I valued the stylists who worked with my hair and would have happily respected the salon's communication boundaries once they were explained to me. I wish this had been resolved through a conversation and an opportunity to correct an unintentional misunderstanding rather than ending a longstanding client relationship. Unfortunately, the way management handled the situation left me feeling uncomfortable and deeply disappointed, and it has completely changed my opinion of the salon. read more

I came in for a root blend/root smudge with soft face-framing highlights and a natural balayage look. What I received was very harsh contrast with bright orange front pieces and overly dark sections throughout. It looked more like an outdated stripe highlight than the blended, dimensional result I requested. I was nervous about trying a new stylist and communicated that several times during the appointment. Unfortunately, I did not feel there was much focus on understanding my hair goals, tone preferences, or the look I was trying to achieve. Most of the conversation centered around the stylist's personal life rather than consultation about my hair or checking in throughout the process. I returned for a color correction hoping the warmth and harsh contrast would be fixed, but the result even less balanced. The front pieces still appeared orange/warm and the overall color lacked blending and cohesion. What was most disappointing was the lack of follow-up afterward. I emailed the salon owner twice trying to address the situation privately and never received a response. The only communication I received was after posting a negative review and she publicly asking me to call her to address it privately. After already attempting to resolve this directly, that response did not feel genuine or solution-focused. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially considering I now need to pay for corrective color services elsewhere to repair the result. read more

Can't go wrong with an Aveda salon and I'm so glad I came here for my first cut in four years!! I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience here. I found the booking and scheduling pretty easy, I was required to place a deposit for my appointment- which was no problem for me. I was disappointed with my appointment and won't be going back. I had a haircut and I was excited about the shampoo since their website states every haircut service gets an aveda scalp massage. I felt the stylist was rushed and really didn't understand what I wanted. When we went to the shampoo bowl I was ready to settle in for the scalp massage but instead I got a five minute shampoo where my hair was being pulled too tight and not relaxing at all. The hair on my nape wasn't even wet. She also thinned out my hair which we never talked about during the consultation and I think it was presumptuous of her to think I don't like the fullness of my hair. Because of my fine texture when my hair gets thinned out I end up with loads of flyaways and its so annoying. I told her she didn't have to dry or style because I already knew I would't like it. I don't recommend this salon as they have false advertising, no scalp massage, the stylist was super rushed which is surprising since she didn't spend anytime on the shampoo or having needed to dry or style, and lack of effective communication, not understanding what I wanted. I also think since it was my first time there they should've asked if I had the New Client Offer which I did but forgot about because I wasn't happy and want to leave. I didn't say anything at the time because it was too late to fix anything and didn't feel like they were interested in knowing anyway. read more

5 Stars to my stylist Rachel! I booked a same day appointment and she listened and asked questions. I went in for a "long haircut" after some quarantine color damage, and walked out with much healthier hair that wasn't horribly short. 2 Stars lost due to Covid protocols. The receptionist, while standing behind a plexiglass barrier, was not wearing a mask. There was another stylist sitting on the couch also not wearing a mask. Another stylist actively assisting a client didn't have a mask on and neither did her client. I will say the other 3 stylists and clients I saw did have masks on. It seems that their policy is "do whatever makes you and your client comfortable" which works in theory, but negatively impacted my experience. My grandfather died from Covid in January and I don't play when it comes to Covid protocols. My stylist kept her mask on the entire time and that made me feel comfortable enough to stay for the appointment. But it was hard to enjoy the scalp massage shampooing or round brush drying while someone unmasked is walking past you a couple of feet away. If you're not worried about Covid protocols, I'd recommend going in. This is the 2nd time I've been to this salon (last was pre-pandemic) and I've left satisfied with my stylist's work each time. If you are immunocompromised, live with someone who is, or have been personally impacted by the pandemic I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

I took my daughter here to get a blue fade hair color, a real professional color, for her 18th birthday. She was very excited. Her appointment started at 1pm on September 19. We had dinner reservations for 5pm and I had to push those back to 5:30pm because it took a long time. That was my fault, I didn't realize that it would take that long, but I don't blame the hair stylist for my naivety. As for the hair color, my daughter was hoping for a dark blue to light blue fade (example in picture). The artist, Kim was very nice and even worked with our time crunch at the end. However, what my daughter actually got was a teal color that didn't have much if any of a fade at all. Over the next couple of days, it was apparent that the color and style wasn't what she wanted but she was still happy with it overall and happy to have interesting hair. That would have likely rated us a 4 star review. The reason it isn't, however is because while we were there, we were told that if we came back in 6 weeks, she could get a refresh at a discounted price (it was $60-$65). There was some confusion with when we were supposed to schedule the refresh, the person working who mentioned didn't know exactly the timeline. Because we were in a hurry, and it was unclear how far out we had to schedule it, I said I would call back to set it up for her. 3 weeks later (October 11th) I called and asked about the refresh and explained to the employee what we were told. She said she could schedule it with Kim and she thought she understood what we were looking for. She scheduled as an appointment for November 11th. She said she would put notes in the account to make sure whoever checked us in would know what was going on and said if there were more questions, we would get a call in advance of the appointment. Fast forward to today, the day of the appointment, almost 4 hours before the appointment. I get a call clarifying what my daughter is coming in for. She asked if she was still looking for the same style/color. I said "Actually, she had thought it was going to be a bluer color, it came out more teal, however, I understand that with the refresh it might have to be the same color and I think she would rather have the refresh with the same color than get pay for a full new job, if that's your policy." Then I was told that the refresh has to be within 4 weeks of the first appointment. I explained that there was some confusion about that, but I asked when I set up the appointment, which was within 4 weeks, and was told it would be fine. She told me "Well, we could have worked with it if it had been 6 weeks, but now it has been 8 weeks, so it's too late to do that." This is my complaint, if you don't know your own dates / times / policies, even after I had tried for clarification more than once, don't wait until the day of the appointment to tell me we have to pay full for this. I truly believe that Kim was very nice and maybe the color mixup could have been corrected, but this was bad customer service and overall just left me and my daughter feeling disappointed and upset. read more

My daughter and I went in both for haircuts. My daughter had an amazing time. She ended up getting purple highlights put into her hair and loves it. The girl was so patient with her. I went in for cut and color. My color came out amazing, better than I imagined. Only heartbroken about my hair, it was WAY WAY too short. About 1-2 inches shorter than the photo I shared. It instead looks like an inverted bob. Hence why the 3 vs 5 stars. Luckily it's hair so it will grow back. But heartbroken considering I cut it before an event. read more

Came in and tried this place for the first time and enjoyed my experience. The salon is cute and very inviting. They have complimentary coffee, tea, beer, and wine which was a really nice treat. I had a cup of coffee and it was so nice to just relax before my appointment started. I came in for a haircut and my stylist, Nai, was really nice. I've been coming here for years, but unfortunately the staff that I was familiar with are gone and now just see a bunch of new faces. It's not the same as it used to be. I definitely don't get treated the same. I usually don't get hair services here, but everything else had been a good experience before, I felt I had a lot of trust and faith in this salon. Unfortunately it only took one awful hair appointment that has made me decide I'm never coming back. I have never been in so much pain while someone brushed my hair. I came here to feel relaxed for a color and cut and instead I got the opposite. On top of that, I was charged extra for the re-toning. I'm beyond frustrated with my experience at this salon. When i first came in for a consultation, I was scheduled with Rachel and she politely told me my black hair would not lift and she didn't want to waste my time or money -- which I respected. When Becky heard of my desired color - caramel highlights, she told me she had the perfect solution - tape in extensions. She came out with the price tag of over $600 and I foolishly agreed not realizing what was about to happen. The first time, the extensions were placed way too high and visible, the black was not black (they used a semi permanent color even though I specifically said I like it really black) and the extensions were silver. After a week, Becky told me to come back in and she would re die, re tape and re color my extensions for free. That would have been a nice gesture, had the same thing not happened again!! The third time (5 weeks later), Becky said to come back again.. and that she would re tone and hopefully they wouldn't turn silver again. This was after reaching out multiple times via Instagram and calling. By the time I got ahold of her, my brown had already grown out and I was due for a re tape. (an additional $175) There is nothing worse then feeling bad about your appearance, let alone for nearly 2 months. I had to celebrate my birthday, Christmas, special events, etc. with black and silver highlights. And their response was, "well, at least we tried" I got no money back, no solution, just a lousy "I'm sorry, I know it's frustrating." read more

I have long hair and really haven't done anything to it for years except small trims. I scheduled an appt with Spencer for the following week, and she was a delight. As soon as I walked in the lady at the reception was incredibly attentive and polite. Soon after, Spencer met with me and we talked about what I had in mind. I wanted to keep my hair long but with many layers, and some sort of highlight that look natural. She did a beautiful job on my haircut and the balayage (new word for me). Went in for a balayage on 2/6/19 with Becky and she's the sweetest! Super nice and a wonderful colorist. Also the salon Manager Ninyel was so accommodating and really pleasant! First off. I would like to say that I should have clarified what kind of brown hair color I would like. So it's my fault I ended up with this golden brown. It definitely did not look good on my skin tone, made me look sickly and really yellow/orange in the sun. So that is my fault. But other than that, the golden brown hair color job Becky did was a really pretty color on its own. It just didn't suit me at all. Now I know that golden and red undertones or warm colors don't work for me. You live and you learn I guess! Also got some sweet Aveda hair products recommended to me by Becky and they're SO GOOD! Overall wonderfully pleasant experience!! I will be going in soon to get a different brown color since this golden brown one doesn't look good on me. I used to go here until my favorite hair stylist moved, she recommended another one and I went there to try her out. I was quoted a month before my wedding $200 for a partial and when I asked about it , I was told that I would only be able to do a portion of the top of my head due to the different products that the two stylists use. I was shocked and the price and at how much I was going to not have done, I then asked the stylist how much it was going to be to style my hair on my wedding day,her response was $89. I thought that's reasonable, I then asked if she did braids, her response was, I only do normal braids nothing else. I then asked if I could cancel my appointment and I left. I went to another salon where I paid $230 and got a partial and a blow out. I would no longer recommend this place to anyone on a budget. She just wasn't very cordial at all and I felt like she acted as if she could care less if she had my business or not. I felt awful.
