One of my favorite bakeries. They have the best macaroons in town. Amazing coffee too.

Small bakery located in west-side retail strip mall. Walked in and spoke to owner about Belle Sucre preparing baked goods for upcoming wedding welcome bags for 200 out-of-town guests. Although the owner was unable to accommodate our request, and originally provided no explanation, he has since provided us with a very reasonable explanation. We will be returning to Belle Sucre soon and often. The owner sounds extremely knowledgable and extremely willing to go the extra mile when possible and very serious about producing quality product. Here's an excerpt from the owner's response to my original review: "The only other reason I would turn down a request is if it is for something that I do not believe we can produce at a quality level that matches our other products. It's hard to say what we are or are not willing to make. It really depends on a number of factors that may change throughout the year. We will make fruit tarts starting in a few weeks; but if you came in and asked for fruit tarts in february I'd say no. Not even for a hundred of them. We make fruit tarts when the product is at it's best and it's the proper time of year." I think that's VERY reasonable--and I appreciate knowing that if I'm ordering something it's going to be fresh, in-season, and perfect. Thanks, Belle Sucre, for clearing that up. Here's some more: "I really think we go out of our way every day to try and please our retail customers. We offer over 75 distinct made completely from scratch (which NO ONE ELSE CAN CLAIM) items every week; it's a tremendous amount of very specialized work and we don't let ourselves accept mediocre results. We're only 6 months into this right now and already worlds better at everything we do than we were when we opened." To my Yelp friends: Let's give Belle Sucre some business and help them thrive! I am a macaroon fanatic...if you've yet to sample this delicacy get a move on. If you start with Bella Cora there is only down from there. These macaroons are top notch. I also ordered a chocolate chip cookie but it didn't seem fresh/was a bit hard. Wouldn't get this again. Two things: A lot of their food has nuts in it and it is not always advertised. It is not nice to eat something you're allergic to just because people can't label things properly. Their deserts are delicious and probably some of the best you can find in this dismal city though their prices are astronomical compared to the nice and cute mom-and-pop shops. For the price, you can find more for cheaper and the quality won't go down much. I love this place. Their macarons are amazing! Great presentation at the Taste of El Paso. The chef recognizes and knows his customers on a personal level, i.e. remembering names. My friend Carrie made a purchase of chocolate covered apples for xmas and gave me one. Delicious. I wish my diet allowed more bread and sweets. Please take it from me as a former pastry chef, this place is an excellent French style bakery! Perhaps a bit too fancy for little 'ol El Paso - But then more people need to appreciate what they're putting out, which are really exceptionally good croissants, breads and pastries. Obviously it's more expensive than your standard local bakery or supermarket, but what you pay for here is the quality. So give them a try and judge for yourself! read more

Tiny little bakery on the west side that puts out a variety of items. I failed to take pictures of my food before I ate them this time. A testament to the deliciousness that Belle Sucre offers. They offer certain types of breads on different days. Their macarons are a big draw but I didn't try them the first go round. I did try a raspberry bar (or was it cranberry? Honestly it doesnt matter. It was sweet) that was gooey and amazing. I also tried their fruit tart (sooooo good) which layerwed with a fresh fruit and cheese cakey creaminess. Tried their macaroons! Really good. They were a little sweet for my liking but I would definitely try other flavors. Also their other pastries looked to die for! Vanilla - very good, but I could only eat like 2 bites of it Cookies and cream - not exactly like an Oreo but this was one of my favorites it wasn't too sweet Red velvet - didn't really taste the cream but the cookie part was night and soft when I bit into it Birthday cake - my favorite! Hands down, the best bakery in El Paso. I've been to a handful of other local bakeries and this is by far my favorite one in town. It is much pricier in comparison, but I think it's worth every penny. We got in about 4:15PM on Saturday and waited in line for about 15 minutes to order. Being first timers, we didn't realize how popular this place was. Towards the end of the business day, they don't restock their products. Luckily, we caught the tail end of their pastry inventory and we were able to get most of what we came in for (macarons and tarts). There are only two tables inside and we were able to hang out in one, to enjoy our pastries. As they got closer and closer to closing, we watched a lot of patrons 1) ask if there was going to be anymore and 2) leave disappointed. It prevents waste, so I completely agree with what they're doing. It's good for business, but not necessarily ideal for their customers. I don't think they're a chain, so I doubt they can afford to lose money by products being left on their shelves. This specialty pastry shop serves small pieces of heaven. You can definitely eat them there or they are boxed up to enjoy at home which I prefer. Coffee is French pressed which makes for a robust cup of coffee. There is bread, croissants, with chocolate, cheese scones and cookies. Order ahead for large cakes, only the dainty beauties are available same day. Personnel is very nice and bakers are hard at work creating edible art, visible to the public. We went back. As promised. You cracked the code on the coffee!!!! French Press is the way to go. Coffee was great and in combination with cream puff and muffin delicious. We also brought home a challah. For some reason it did shrink by 50% over night. My kid left crumbs all over so I already know who the culprit was. The other 50 are gone now too. Very very good. Uhhhh what's the big deal about this place? I went in and they had a couple desserts and some macaroons. They rolled by some loaves of bread and I asked if they had sandwich bread. The girl said yes and told me the ingredients and made it sound amazing. I asked her some questions about the flour they use and was very excited to get some bread to make sandwiches for the rest of the week. I said I'd take a loaf and she told me they weren't for sale and that those were for a restaurant. Ok; got it. You're a bakery that doesn't sell bread to people. I understand that the bread was made specifically for the restaurant, as the "friendly" note from the owner below states, but it sure wasn't fun to be teased by what appeared to be amazing bread. The macaroons were okay but nothing to write home about. The place smelled like delicious bread, but being refused to purchase any really ruined my evening. I love this place! I've only had one experience when the staff member seemed a little daft and stand offish but the other times, one of the owners (I think) was there and she was super helpful and enthusiastic, which I liked. I like to get their country loaf and this time I got a wheat loaf and they're both great. I tried their pecan pie for thanksgiving and plan on getting one for Christmas also! Also, I had a fruit tart and it was so good. The Whole Foods tarts taste like refrigerator but this one was so good and not overpowering. Best bakery in El Paso! Found this place off of yelp and after my horrible cake searching experience in El Paso decided to give this place a try. I called and a guy named Jonathan answered the phone. Extremely professional, nice and was willing to answer all of my questions as well as give me his own personal opinions. I ended up ordering the chocolate hazelnut cake. Saturday morning, even though they open at 8 he said I could stop in at 7 when my cake was going to be done. I came in with my mom and best friend and the smell of the bakery immediately grabbed my attention. Fresh baked breads, muffins, cookies, macaroons and individual sizes of the cake that I had ordered were staring at me and making me drool. I was greeted by a really nice lady who also helped us pick out some shortbread cookies and a dozen macaroons. The macaroons were so good, probably the best I've ever had.... they have creme and jelly filling and were the perfect sweetness, flavor and size. My family ended up fighting over the last two. The cake was amazing! I could have eaten the entire thing! I even woke up and had it for breakfast the next day. The cakey texture was rich and moist and had a slight crunchy hazelnut taste to it and the chocolate mouse frosting was perfectly sweet without overpowering the cake. Bella Cora has been a mainstay during this pandemic. It began with once-a-week cooking classes that I look forward to every week. Then I began ordering items twice a week for pickup. I both wish there was a store in the Northeast El Paso, so I could have one nearby, and am glad there isn't because I would be broke all the time. Bottomline, the best pastry to get is: the NUTTER BUTTER COOKIE!!! Came here initially to try their macarons and cronut, since it was the only one I heard of in El Paso that made them, hence I had to try them! My overall experience is a 3.5 stars, but of course rounded it up to 4. I didn't quite like their MACARONS because they were too cakey. I prefer my macarons to have a thinner cookie than these, of which the outside is light and crispy (just how toasted meringue is) and a tiny-bit soft when you bite it. I thought the fillings were pretty good and spot on, hence you can't go wrong with that! I liked the chocolate one in terms of flavor, but was more like a really damn good brownie versus a macaron to me. I also wish they had the flavors displayed on the glass of each of the macarons as well. Although I have had better macarons, I totally vouch for this place to go ahead and try them. As of now, I am still in search for other places that make macarons. In my experience venturing for macarons in different places, every bakery makes them different FYI. Price-wise, on the cheaper side than what I've seen, but the not the cheapest. $1.45 each. Sadly, we were too late to try the CRONUT. Apparently, the run out in the morning within an hour! This craze surely is consistent with how it is back in California as well. I definitely need to come here to try it at this joint! I wish it wasn't so far from where I live! I also tried their KNOCK KNOCK, which they described is a chocolate cake with a chocolate filling--like a bon-bon, of course with more detail than from what I could remember! From the looks of it, it seemed pretty intriguing, so we tried it. It was OK. I wasn't too impressed with it. Reminded me of those Little Debbie cakes. What highlighted this bakery that mainly influenced this high rating is dum-dum-dum: their NUTTER BUTTER COOKIE. Man, oh, man!!! I would go for miles for this cookie! It's basically a peanut butter cookie sandwich with their unique concoction of a mildly sweet, decadent, and peanutty whipped peanut butter cream in the middle. I was completely floored when trying this!!! If I was ever in the area, I would absolutely stop by JUST TO GET THIS. It looks so simple, but damn is the flavor truly impressive. I need to come back here again! In retrospect, this bakery is definitely a favorite and am considering their Nutter butter cookie as their own staple. I haven't bought anything from this place but customers have brought us a variety of pastries and croissants. My girlfriend heard me talking about cinnamon rolls for several years now and where I've had the best. I'm sad to say the cinnamon rolls leave much to be desired. I realize everyone wants to put their stamp on a creation, but this left me wanting what is the most important ingredient, Cinnamon! And there's not enough flavor in the dough. If he's using butter I can't detect it. My son made better cinnamon rolls in his middle school, with only my help in preparing. The recipe he extracted from some old cookbook. Speaking of that try the Joy of Cooking for just about any recipe. Every recipe I've used in that book comes out as expected and sometimes better! That comes from 80+ years of perfected cooking. Amazing bakery. Everything in the case is decadent, hand made, and worth every cent. I love the chocolate bombe, the TK Nutter Butter, and the chocolate caramel croissant is absolute heaven. Have not been impressed with any of the baked goods. They are very pretty to look at but all I taste just flour. I am sure they use the finest ingredients but something is missing in taste. I do say they are very experienced in charging high prices for very commercial made breads. The multigrain bread is gummy and tasteless, so are the baguettes. read more
