This bakery has the BEST alfajores I've ever tasted. They are really the biggest highlight of this bakery. If you go, they are a must try. I recently ordered some buñuelos, I assume are seasonal, and they tasted great. They were also wrapped beautifully, with great detail. Cute place and good experience all around! I found out about Manjar on social media and Yelp. I saw they were offering Easter baskets on Instagram. Easter hasn't been the first thing on my mind these days. When I saw these cute baskets on IG...I knew I had to get my hands on a couple. I'm so glad I was able to. I want to continue to support local businesses as much as possible, especially right now. The Easter baskets include cookies and a couple of other sweets in them. When I went to pick them up, they also had cupcakes for sale. I ended up getting a strawberry and chocolate. They're 3.50 each. Both were tasty and fresh! The frosting was perfect, not too sweet. I'm not sure what other sweets they're offering. It changes all the time. Friends, let's keep supporting local businesses as much as we can. Horrible customer service. I was never told that I couldn't cancel a future order and get a refund. They won't do one because they don't want to pay the refund fee. My receipt for my deposit also doesn't say that a refund can not be done. I literally called them an hour after the deposit was made and they said they will not refund it or cancel it. I did not walk out with any product or gain anything from this bakery. I only went here because they were featured on social media as having great tasting products yet they forgot to mention on that feature that their customer service lacks. I will make sure that social media adds this to their features on this bakery so people can make better decisions on coming here. Manjar is the sugar rush you dreamed about as a kid! Vanellope von Schweetz would describe Manjar as the "Lamborghini of bakeries in El Paso." Yes, it's that good! It's a small shop with black and white checkered floors and a colorful menu chalkboard wall and the sweetest owner ready to whip up anything you want. The first time I had Manjar sweets was actually at 2Ten. 2Ten carries Manjar's cookies (and possibly a few other things)...delicious little suckers even if 2Ten lied to me and told me they had chocolate chip cookies when really it was a raisin chocolate chip cookie. But I let it slide because it was so soft, so good. After reading Jennifer T's review, I was actually quite impressed that the cupcakes aren't filled or frosted prior to being ordered so everything you get really is fresh. I checked out the pics on Yelp and said, "Yup...gonna go get my cupcake on!" The cupcakes are moist and flavorful! The Pina Colada was my absolute fave! The cupcake had a subtle sweetness and was topped with a sugary-good coconut pineapple frosting, toasted coconut and a pineapple chunk. Loved this so much! I also tried the Strawberry cupcake which surprisingly tasted like a real strawberry. Again the frosting was smooth, sugary, deliciousness and I almost felt like it tasted like a homemade strawberry jam. Yum! I saw a sign outside that said they have Cheesecake Pops. Cheesecake Pops you say?!? I seriously can consume a deathly amount of cream cheese anything...so when it comes to Cheesecake I never say no. Loved these! They're little balls of Cheesecake filling covered in chocolate! The only way they could be better is if they were also coated in graham crackers, but still I absolutely loved 'em! There were a ton of other sweets and treats available, but as an adult I finally understand my sugar tooth and know that my eyes are always bigger than my stomach. Price wise you really can't complain because at $3 a pop (with a lot of frosting mind you), it's an average price in EP. Like hey, I've paid almost $2 for a mini-cupcake before so Manjar is more than reasonable for the quality and quantity you get. Great cupcakes and very skilled bakers and chefs. Lots of artistic options for cakes, cookies and cake pops so this is definitely my new home for goodies for events! read more

I loooove the cupcakes here. Especially the lemon cupcake. I like the way the store is set up. It's very modern and clean. My favorite part of this store is that the cupcakes you receive haven't had frosting sitting out on them all day. They are not "made to order" per se but the employees fill and frost the cupcake when you order it. I think that's pretty comforting to know that the frosting I'm getting isn't going to have that dry, kind of crunchy texture on the outside from sitting out all day. The cupcakes have always been moist and flakey, but in a good way. The cookies are also very good here. They have a different flavor to them that I have no idea how to describe. They aren't just plain ol' sugar cookies. They also have espresso infused brownies that are verrrrrry good. Overall this place is great, but $3 for a cupcake has been the standard for any cupcakery I have been to, which sucks because it's a little steep for a cupcake, but this place is worth it. They also have a flavor of the month posted on their website. The four stars is only because of their high prices, but again, every cupcake shop I've ever seen has prices just as high. read more

I have a soy and nut allergy so it is really hard for me to find a bakery that uses real butter and canola oil for their baked goods. Manjar is the only one I have found in El Paso. I ordered my birthday cake and it was lovely. White cake with buttercream frosting. The bakery was super clean and organized. I love that. Coffee Emporium sells scones from Manjar. My husband and I stopped in to check this place out in anticipation of a party we'll be throwing. The store is super cute inside and I was impressed with what they had to offer. We got four cupcakes to go and I confess I ate three in one sitting. The presentation of the cupcakes is awesome! The cupcakes were definitely good but they were not the best I've ever had. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. The word clean isn't normally the first word that comes to my mind when I enter an establishment with a sweet tooth that must be satiated, but man, this place, was clean. I'll get to the incredibly delicious and moist and supple cupcakes and the decadent cake pops I devoured in a minute, but let me see if I can convey just how clean this place was. I'd imagine that this place is what the inside of a Windex factory would look like. Everything was spotless. The floors, the windows, the counter tops, everything. Just incredibly clean. Beyond just being clean though, it was smartly put together, brightly colored, and beautifully and tastefully modern. Its the cute pastry boutique I've always wanted, and the best part is that its in El Paso and locally owned. The cupcakes I tried were delicious! The strawberry cupcake was theeeeee best strawberry cupcake I've ever had. While the cupcake itself was flavored appropriately, it was the amazing frosting on top that blew me away. It tasted more strawberry....y than a strawberry. How is that possible? I don't know, but I'm glad they found a way. The pina colada cupcake was equally satisfying. The crispy coconut strings on top added a layer of sophistication that I wasn't aware a cupcake could achieve. I absolutely wasn't expecting it. Sure, if I was looking at it before I ate it, I'm sure I would have noticed the little toasted coconut bits, but, like I always do, I just took a bite. My taste buds and mouth were met with the instant satisfaction of the sweet and crunchiness of the cupcake along with the moist deliciousness of the rest. I highly recommend that cupcake. Lastly, I tried the cake pops. Why the heck are cake pops so darn delicious? Does the shape add to the satisfaction? Does the hard outer shell of deliciousness somehow incubate the innards to a perfect amount of moistness? I don't know. But I love cake pops. And Manjar has some of the best I've ever had. Second only to the ones I've made because I make them ginormous, which I'm sure defeats the purpose, but when I hear the word cake, I want a whole cake darnit. But anyway, the coolest part is that they don't add the frosting until you order them. Which is really smart because that way the frosting doesn't get all hard and nasty after being set out for too long. Definitely 5 stars and a must try. I really hate to not give good reviews on locally owned places. I went to order a cake for a party, and I got a couple macaron, horchata and champagne, they were delicious. The staff was friendly and answered all my questions. But I apparently didn't ask the right questions. When they showed me the pan they were going to use for the 2 layer I should have asked to see an actual size cake because the cake I was given was about half the height they led me to believe. I also should have asked for a sample taste of the cake and frosting because the cake tasted like box mix and the frosting had a very boring taste. Definitely not worth the expensive price tag for the cake. I hate to say it but I've had better cake from Wal-Mart, even the premade cakes. I would still get macarons from them, but won't order any cakes from them again. read more

Can we all just take a second to be thankful for the heavenly fluff called ze cupcake. The cravings hit me so hard one day and I had to find a bakery quickly! Guess my timing sucked cause everything closer to me was closed. Luckily this spot wasn't. And since I'm a fatty I was totally willing to drive 20min out the way for it. It be like that sometimes. Now these cupcakes are sweet! So if your into the whip frosting/egg white stuff, you might need to put on your big girl panties for these bad boys. I like to walk on the wild side so I told the lady to surprise me with a dozen of her choosing. It was like Christmas and they all tasted good! Manjar, is by far the best cupcake shop in El Paso. I don't mind driving to the west side to pick up a few of my favorites. I love how they prepare your cupcakes by topping them off with fresh real buttercream frosting every single time. You can't get cupcakes, cake pops, or cookies like this at any grocery store. Definitely the most delicious cupcakes I've ever tried and I've tried many :) Cupcakes are fresh and beautiful. I definitely recommend going to the place, my absolute favorite is the Cajeta one. People say that they are expensive, I don't think so, in my Country (Mexico) cost the same and they are not as rich as those of Manjar. The cupcakes here were horrible. I had a chocolate cupcake and my husband had piña colada. Mine was dry and the frosting was not chocolate- it just tasted like sugar with brown food coloring. My husband said his was a vanilla cupcake with the sugar frosting. Not impressed and definitely not worth $3 a cupcake. They tasted like generic cupcakes that are sold at the grocery store. Extremely disappointed in their custom cakes, especially for the high price. You can get something better at your local Kroger or a Baskin Robbins or Cold Stone ice cream. I recently ordered two cakes for my daughter's 21st birthday. For $25 I got a tiny round cake with the most disgusting butter cream frosting that tasted like you were taking a bite out of a stick of butter with some sugar-- and the cake itself was as tasty as dry bread made from pure cocoa powder. The second cake at the steep price of $64 was supposed to look like a gift box, based on a design from a photograph. The cake itself was amateur. Unfortunately, these people are not up to the task. The fondant was cracked and tasted bitter. And the lemon cake tasted like something you make from cake mix. It was embarrassing to serve our guests at both events. These folks are no Cake Boss or even your local grocery store bakery. They will not have my business again. read more
