After trying the Bowie Bakery location near downtown, we were super excited to try this one on the West Side. The pastries are delicious and very well-priced, just like they are at the downtown location! For checking in here on Yelp for the first time, I received a coupon for 50 cent donuts on Wednesdays. Our favorites are the glazed & chocolate iced. I also really like their large cookie topped with coconut flakes and fruit-filled pastry. I see a-lot of people complaining about being "rushed" or the staff's "personality". They are overtly sensitive. This place is great. The pastries are great. The people are great. If you feel rushed, stand in the back and look at what they have. These are probably the same people that hold up a drive thru line. When I went, I order some donuts and pan dulce, excellent. 11/22/2023, went in to Bowie Bakery, I asked for 2 Lg. Menudo one with more meat than the other. Both were the same more pozole than menudo. I also ordered the tamales and had to wait a few minutes for them. The service was great no doubt, but my rating is also because of the tamales. The tamales were 90% masa, 10% meat, the tamales were probably 1/2 lb. each. I have always love there tamales but if they continue this way, they are gonna lose customers. read more

Decent burritos but definitely not the best in town. Counter person seemed lost in a daze and I had to repeat my machaca burrito order three times before he comprehended it. Then he had to come back to me to make sure he heard me right. I didn't try any of the baked goods although they were mouth watering to look at. The variety of goods was broad. Wow- we all are familiar with the expression "like a kid in a candy store"...well take an adult with a super sweet tooth and put them in this place! I have never seen danish or cinnamon rolls this big in my entire life! I went in around 10am thinking it would not be busy, but it is coffee break time and there was a steady stream of customers coming in the door. I did settle on a "pig cookie" those little brown pigs- mine was pretty big, but tasted just as it should. It was soft like cake but also like a cookie with that rich molasses taste- so delicious! Well then... Today was a rollercoaster of emotions. I walked into this bakery feeling very hopeful on trying their tamales and all sorts of goodies. Their arrangement of pastries was very extensive and looked very enticing. I made a point to stop here to grab something delicious for breakfast before we start our fishing trip for the day. So i was ready! Alas, my excitement was short lived upon realizing the only tamales they had were cold ones leftover from yesterday and it was only a jalapeño cheese one. Had my heart set on a meat filled warm one. At least she was honest about it and said they were from yesterday's batch. As for their sweets, i would say their donuts were the better ones in the bundle i got. They only had chocolate glazed, regular glazed, and sugar yeast donuts. All tasted really good but wish there was more like maple glazed. I also tried their strawberry cream cheese danish which really didnt taste good at all. The filling had a very off taste to it, almost sour. I also tried their fruit tart. Blehhh. It was as if they just bought the pastry shells, filled it with store bought whipped cream and a topped it with a few pieces of fruit and glaze. I was looking forward to trying the custard in fruit tarts. Not this time tho. The tart overall wasnt good neither. It just had that day old taste to it from sittinf in the cooler too long. I absolutely love this place. My in laws are regulars and they take us here every time we visit them in El Paso. I love their breakfast burritos and I always get the green chile burrito. Spicy and absolutely delicious. Their tamales are really tasty too and their bread's just to die for! My in laws always bring bread and burritos with them when they come to visit us in Phoenix. They have tons of pastries (huge ones, by the way), cookies and cakes and cupcakes. It's a small place but they have some tables inside and outside of the bakery so you can sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee and a good Mexican pastry. I find it simply amazing all the people who think Bowie Bakery makes good bread?... they USE TO make good bread a few years back but their standards are way too low now.... for instance, today I bought francesitos, tamales and doughnuts... the francesitos (boilos, pan frances or pan blanco- whatever you want to cal it) were horrible, mushy and not crispy like Valentines or Food City... the tamales lack a lot of salt and were all masa and no meat!... the doughnuts are not light but feel like your are eating two donughts at once unlike Duncan Dounuts... I saw their esponjas or pan de huevo and they look like they only had a couple of pieces of sugar on top? unlike the esponjas of Vista Market... as you can see I am not a competitor or even mentioning my families (brothers) bakery but- I hope that people vote with their money and start supporting or buying other bakeries bread to help Bowie awaken and up their quality and standards... read more
