This used to be the best auto repair service in the area, but Craig and Donnie sold it to a new guy, and not only does he not seem to know what he's doing or how to run a business, he was verbally abusive to me--told me to get out and never come back--when I asked why the part my car needed was not there when I'd had an appointment for the work. The mechanic there, who also worked at the old-owner business, is still there. But who wants to do business with an insecure non-mechanic. I recommend you find a more customer-friendly mechanic shop. This guy deserves to go out of business. read more

Didn't try to BS me into fixing a car that was well past it's expiration date, didn't charge me storage for the couple of days it took me to find someone to haul it off, and were friendly even though I wasn't spending wads of cash. Down to earth people. And I definitely would recommend anyone with an older vehicle check them out, it's getting extremely hard to find places that can cope with pre-OBDII cars in a competent manner. read more

This is a family owned business that has been here for years,they have lots of regular customers.You usually need an appointment , I have gone here for years with mixed results,don't expect your car to be fixed in record time for they tend to be slower than most repairs shops nor is this an economical place to go,they charge less than a new car dealer but are no bargain ,their estimates on a mid range job are often $200 more than other shops.They seem competent enough but the slow turnaround time and prices have forced me to look elsewhere, in my opinion the best repair shop in Scottsdale,in First Class Auto repair on Scottsdale road,they do excellent work at lower prices but they are almost overwhelmed with work so you will need an appointment. read more

Terrible customer service. And I can't even get an itemized bill after spending $3000 on a transmission rebuild. I have been down there 3 times in the past week and can't seem to get anyone to even look it up. The answer I got the third time I was there was that "my mom is just slow at the paperwork "....seriously??? You don't have it in your computer that's right there in front of you?...Then I was told "We will mail it to you"...pretty poor business practices. When I spend that kind of money I want to know what was replaced and how much it cost. I have never been to an auto shop that DIDN'T give me an itemized bill. I will never go back there again and suggest that no one goes there for major repairs. And I haven't even started on the fiasco that went on while they were working on it. I've been going to Bell Auto Service for about a year now and am very pleased. It started with a Napa AutoCare Center Living Social voucher for $49 which included: 3 Oil Changes, Tire Rotation, 120-pt inspection, Battery & Charging System Check, & One Year Roadside Service Membership - (yeah all of that). As a woman, you are always tentative to go to a new shop for fear of being taken advantage of. Quite the contrary here! It is a family owned shop and environment. Everyone is helpful and friendly. I think I've met everyone by now, lol. On my 2nd oil change, they discovered I had a nail in my tire and recommended a spot up the block to plug up my tire. More recently, my car was leaking oil, so I called to see if they could squeeze me in. My schedule is really ugly, but they managed to fit me in to take a look to make sure it wasn't a dangerous situation. When I arrived, Terry took a look and confirmed I was indeed leaking oil. Since it was late in the day, he added some oil and fit me in early the next week. Needless to say, they hooked me up! I am so appreciative to Bell Auto Service for their good work. I was given a list of repairs by a dealership that needed to be done on my car and was told the total cost would be $1200.00. A couple of weeks later I pulled into Bell Auto and showed them the list. After looking it over they showed me a couple of things that really didn't need to be done and when they were done working on my car, the total bill was $700.00. Brought my car in to get the electric stuff checked. $25 to do an electronic systems check, then determined it was a bad alternator. I brought my car in at the end of the day, about 5pm or so, and they had it ready by 11am the next day. The owner/manager, Terry, seemed like a straight up guy. Pricing is fair, as far as I could tell. They seem to stay pretty busy with normal cars as well as business fleet vehicles. I've seen school buses there, Topkick-sized trucks, and as well as your standard fare trucks with lawnmowers on the back. read more

So I don't really do bad reviews but I feel that my situation was really unfair. My truck didn't pass emissions so I was referred to them by the Arizona state WRP program where they give you up to 900 dls to fix your vehicle, you only have to pay 100 dls up front to the shop of your choice so they can look at it. I called bell auto service to make an appointment and took in the truck, a couple days later I get a call saying that my fuel pump was bad which I knew and explained to them when I dropped it off so they ended up ordering a new fuel pump plus a new catalytic converter to fix it for emission. They gave me to quote of 683.43 dls including the 100 dls to look at it, so I was 783.43 dls out of pocket. I thought it was reasonable until I did my research on the receipt they gave me after I picked up my vehicle. They charged 719.28 dls for parts and 806.25 dls for labor, but check this out they charged 410.00 dls for a single oem style catalytic converter plus 357.50 for them to install it (weld two pipes) just doesn't at up right? They also charged 176.26 dls for a fuel pump plus 47.90 dls for a fuel tank valve plus 22.98 dls for a connector and 17.14 dls for another connector and 261.25 dls to install it, a little bit more reasonable but still over charged. They also charged 187.50 dls for a evap system test. Now technically I only paid 783.43 dls out of pocket for all that work which is reasonable but they also charged the AZ WRP PROGRAM another 900 dls, seems illegal if you ask me! I'm not going to lie they do quality work but they definitely take advantage of this program offered to the people. read more

I went to Bell because they are one of the few facilities in my area which is involved in the VVRP program for vehicles that fail inspection. They found and replaced the parts that were responsible for the check engine light on my 2005 Xterra and brought it for inspection all for $100 less than another place had quoted for the repair. And after the VVRP payment I only had to pay $150 of a $600 repair bill. read more

I would definitely recommend this place. The customer service is great - really friendly, communicative and helpful. The repairs were done as quickly as possible, especially given that I had to bring my car in right before a holiday, and the work done was great quality. Importantly, though, I didn't feel like they were trying to take advantage. In the past, at other places, I've gotten some pretty outrageous quotes paired with equally outrageous diagnosis, but the final price I paid was under what was quoted, and wasn't ridiculous to begin with. So, just as I began this review, I will end it - I would recommend Bell Auto, and will be back here for regular maintenance! read more

I have used this shop several times for minor as well as large repairs. They have always been friendly and honest. I had my whole a/c rebuilt last summer by Bell Auto and the quote for the job was inline with over the phone quotes from other shops. There were additional problems when they were working on my Honda Element but they said they would not charge me for them since they already quoted me for the job. I really appreciated that. I will stay using this shop in the future as long as they continue to stay true their excellent business practices. read more
