I wanted to see a few items in person as sometimes it's nice to try on clothes. I was disappointed at this location as the variety was slim pickings. And, the Plus size clothing was downstairs near the men's and housewares section when all the other women's clothing was on the main level. There were no signs to point me in the right direction. The selection was sparse and many clothes strewn on the floor. This section needs some tending too. Once I see clothes like this and discarded everywhere I leave. I was looking for a Le Cresut piece of cookware that I wanted to see in person before I made a decision on what to purchase. I went downstairs to the home department and found a small rack with a few Le Cresut items. One of the boxes was empty and the others were the same colors and just a few different shapes. Nothing impressive to say the least. There was no sales associate around to ask any questions or get assistance. The department looks like an after thought to be completely honest. Belk is still one of my go to stores when looking for something specific. Their Sales Staff is thin but helpful if you really need them.

My wife and I went there about a week ago. The first 6 registers we walked to were closed. The 7th was staffed by a rude woman arguing with a customer who wanted to return some items. There was no civil employee to help this customer. Additionally, there were signs everywhere that there was one fitting room available. We never found it. The women's plus size section is on another floor than the rest of the women's clothes. The fitting room for the women's plus size section is closed and there aren't any signs directing you to another fitting room. I brought jeans I wanted to buy to the register and the cashier couldn't find them in the system and was like I don't have a price can't help you. Fix your shit, Belk. Open the dressing room in the plus size section because we don't want to try clothes on in the fucking housewares section. I can only speak on my experience at the Mac Cosmetics counter ... I needed some new lipstick, so out on my lunch break I stopped in. I was surprised that only one makeup artist was working. She was busy doing a consultation, but she greeted me. I picked out all my colors to try to make it easy for her. I tried on & she made her choices, in between working on the other customer. Way to multi-task! We decided together which one looked best, I paid for my lipstick & was on my way. The store is really nice, lots of offerings & they always are having a sale. All the areas I saw were neat, clean & organized. read more

Save yourself the trip. This Belk is terrible for two reasons. 1. Selection: They have largely their own brands, particularly in womens and shoes. Although the home section is very disappointing as well. But throughout the store it's hard to find more mainstream brands. Also size variety is very narrow! Frustrating. The Belk at Crabtree has a much better selection of brands and sizes. 2. Customer Service: They just don't give a hoot about customers here! Wether it's for a purchase or return good luck finding anyone at a register. It's so frustrating! And even when I have asked for help I get referred to an empty register or a line 10 people long. Ridiculous. Seriously, if you want to shop at belk the extra 20 minute drive from Southpoint to Crabtree is worth it! This place is awful!!! read more

I am a huge fan of Belk. I can remember a day when it was Hudson's Belk. This particular location is not as expansive as one of the flagship locations at Crabtree Valley Mall but it still has plenty to offer. I have purchase cologne and golf clothing at this location. This department store could be better. It's rather dirty, stains on the carpets that wouldn't take much to get clean, dust in the corners, the shoe department is a disaster. I actually felt like I was walking around in the warehouse not in a supposedly nice department store. There were boxes of shoes everywhere and they were not neatly stacked. There are never enough people working in this department and if you get someone's attention they make you feel like they would rather be doing something else. The women's restroom on the 2nd floor (in shoes) is horrible. There was actually blood on the floor in a stall that looked like it had been there for days. The only reason I use this restroom is because I park outside Belk and never think to look for a restroom until I'm nearly out the door. read more

Delivering some building supplies for renovations and after bringing everything inside, my partner and I cleaned up the trash and threw it in the dumpster. An employee came running out and made my partner take all the trash out and claimed the dumpster was Belk's property and we can't use it. A few broken pieces of sheet rock and a plastic cover. Alright then, I won't use your dumpster. I won't be buying my work pants here anymore either. Took the trash down to another dumpster behind Chipotle. They had no problem with us using their dumpster. read more

The down side is that there are not a lot of people on the floor who can help when dealing with questions (which seems to be a common thing at department stores) and the always weird department store payment places. The up side: Service was good, the coat I bought was cheap, and the store itself looks nice. If you need to shop for department store things in Southpoint, and are in between Nordstrom and JC Penney/Sears in terms of what you want to spend, Belk is a much better choice than Macy's. read more

Somehow I'm not surprised many large department stores are struggling. After waiting for a long time to pay for six items, I finally set them aside and walked out. There was one very hard-working lady trying to help with everybody's purchases. She was doing an excellent job. But after walking around the store and seeing no other cashiers, I set my purchases down and walked out. Belk just missed out on three or $400 worth of items I had intended to buy. Next time, I will just buy the stuff online. Sorry Belk; you have gone downhill. read more

The only department that ever gives you attention is the cosmetics dept. I hate the layout of this store, I always get lost in it, and there can be several sales associates standing around, and not one will ever ask if you need assistance. Been a Belk customer since 1964. One of my favorite stores, as the bargains are great if you "know how and when to shop". An avid bargain hunter, I am in Belk Southpoint at least once weekly, sometimes three times. I am a Red Dot Queen. Most of my purchases are in the Women's Better Wear and Children's. No real problem with customer service. Any store on a busy day will have a line. While on a rare trip to Belk Crabtree a couple weeks ago, Sunday after Thanksgiving, it was a mob. The lines were long due to the number of shoppers; that was to be expected. I Love Belk! read more

The customer service in the women's department is piss poor today. I was in line at two separate lines only to have the employee take two people ahead of me at two different desks. I was there with my baby in a stroller and had to leave Belk and go to the front to the food court to go downstairs to the men's department. Thank you to Brandon for being a good employee. I have been shopping with Belks for years, but after my experience at this location, I doubt I will ever be back. When checking out today I first had trouble finding a cashier at ANY customer service station, at 5pm on a Tuesday. Then when I finally found an occupied station with 2 separate cashiers working, I got in line. The first cashier had one item to ring up for a customer but I assume they knew each other because they were caught in conversation, while the second cashier was taking her time to ring up her current customer, I stood their about 10 minutes just waiting, when finally the second cashier finishes, then precedes to walk away to help a women who was looking at dresses a few feet away (not in line), without saying a simple "I'll be with you in a moment" or "the other cashier will be done shortly." An utter and complete disregard for anyone else's time. After waiting a few more minutes waiting for the first cashier to finisher her SINGLE item translation and conversation, ALSO without acknowledging that I had been waiting for about 15 minutes now, I just gave up! I have never been treated and ignored with such disregard with my time as a customer in my life. And I will certainly NEVER go back to this location, my hard earned money will be spent else where. read more

Okay, it might be a little silly to review a department store, but my experience with Susan in the bridal (basically china and dishware) department at the Southpoint Belk warrants a review. Susan is the kindest, most capable employee imaginable. She helped my husband and me register for our items with extreme thoroughness and knowledge. She was always ready to help us do anything. Then, six months later after we got married, I had some items to return. Susan remembered me and spent nearly an hour helping me return everything properly and taking care of every little detail. At the end, she even gave me a hug. I hope Belk reads this review of Ms. Susan because they need to understand what an incredible employee they have on their hands. i must give this store high marks. I bought a beautiful grey dress on sale. The jeans I bought looked great, but when I tried them on, they were too tight. The cashiers in the housewares department were outstanding. They answered my questions thoroughly and treated me with the utmost respect. I like the location and recommend this store to all. Sometimes all cashiers are not staffed, but otherwise the store is a great location to shop. This mall also has a Macy's and Nordstrom. Across the street is a Nordstrom Rack. read more
