This location appears to have been remodeled or something. It appears different from my last visit. We came here to look at their prom dresses. I'm so glad we followed the advice from someone to do so. The inventory was still plentiful and didn't appear "picked" over. After browsing around a bit , my niece was able to find the perfect dress for her. The service we received at checkout by Mr. Michael was outstanding! He was a true professional all the way! The first thing we were greeted with as we approached the doors was the power doors did not work so if you use/need those you will have to enter from the mall itself. Second the escalator was also down. Maintenance issues make it seem as if it's run down and not taken care of. They have some good sales but overall what you expect from a Belk's or other department stores. read more

I will say, this Belk is coming back around. I come here often for nice clothes and here lately they have had a great selection. I found a great formal dress for a wedding coming up! They always have great deals going on and do well to show customers about the app with more coupons. I even saw one employee helping an older lady download it. The only issues I have is it is so hard to find someone to help you and check out. Yesterday the only employee in the women's department was on her personal phone for a long time. Secondly, it's very hard to find a fitting room. They only have a fraction of them open. Either way, I'll keep shopping here because their stock is the best. read more

It's hard for me to give Belk a 3 star review, but honestly, it is what is deserved. Let's get into why. I'm in Belk a lot. It's my go to place for clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. When I'm at the Galleria, I generally stop by here first. Now, Belk has a huge selection of clothes, shoes, etc. and they are always having some type of sale. But...the service is practically non-existent because there just never seem to be enough workers. Very rarely have I been acknowledged by workers in Belk (unless I'm at the MAC makeup counter or a perfume counter). It's not that the workers are rude. It's more like they are "Where is Waldo?". In many cases, you have to hunt down a sales representative to assist you with finding something or checking out. I understand that Belk is a large Department store that has many different areas, but it should not be difficult to find assistance every time you're in their store. Now, because I'm in here so much, I've basically learned the layout so I don't usually need help and if I can't find what I need, I just head over to Macy's. This an update regarding curbside pickup. It is confusing at this location. You're supposed to let them know when you're on your way. I did through the app. Once you get there the order somehow disappears, so you have to call and tell them you're here again. They did however pick up the phone. There isn't any marked location for curb side pick up. They just tell you to wait near ladies. I was but it was the wrong ladies section. The whole process took a lot longer than expected. My product was brought out to me but I did have to run a few hoops which could be fixed with a sign and better system. It would have been easier to just go in and pick up. read more

Belk Department Store sit in the center of the Galleria which is a reason why people like parking by Belk since you don't have to walk too far to the nearest stores inside the mall. That can be good if the parking lot isn't crowded, but can be bad if it is crowded. I can't speak on the women's clothing, but the men's department seems to carry better selection of clothes compared to the Belk in Trussville. If you're looking for kids, households or luggage, you will have to head to the second level in women's Belk, go inside the mall, passed the hotel and you're right there. read more

I would like to give this store more stars but can't bring myself to. That being said, I always like to go here when I go to the mall. This is a higher end department store and they carry some of the more expensive brands. My daughter loves Lily Pulitzer and this store is one of the few that carries it. I always check to see what is on sale at Lily. There is always a rack with sale items. Usually a rack with 30 percent off and another with 50 percent off. I can almost always find something she would like to have. On a recent trip we scored big by taking advantage of the sales and opening up a charge for an additional 20 percent off, 1-day shopping pass with no exclusions. We were able to save on all of our Lily purchases, Ralph Lauren, makeup, etc. Here are my two big issues with the store. Pretty much every time I come, there are areas of the store that look like a hot mess. I have a feeling that they try to save money by cutting back on staff so there isn't anyone to straighten up. Which leads me to my second big issue--not enough staff working. On the recent trip I just mentioned, we bought a bunch of stuff in the men's department. They were having a good sale and it was on the weekend and literally one person was working. There was a big line at the register and I looked around to see if we could check out in a nearby department. Nope, no other registers open that I could see. We waited in line to get the good deals we found and the woman that took care of us was very nice and was working as fast as humanly possible. That being said, I have walked out of this store without buying anything because I couldn't find anywhere to pay and I just gave up. Very, Very large Belk! They have two main entrances from the parking lot area, one that takes you into women's and one that takes you into men's clothing. A couple of different ways in from the inside of the mall. Also, if you are looking for household items you actually leave the clothing store and walk across a small section of mall to get to this area. Very friendly staff! Some of the friendliest I have encountered in this type of store (Belk, Macy's, JC Penny, etc). Very helpful and have made some great recommendations in the past...My feet thank the gentleman that helped me find a comfortable pair of dress shoes that would still feel good after standing/walking a convention floor for several consecutive days. He nailed it! Good selection of all types of clothing from very casual (shorts, t-shirts, exercise) to very formal (slacks, coats, suits) to everything in between. Seems like they are always having a sale. Not uncommon to find items that are normally $75 for under $30 (even less a lot of times). Great inventory and lots of choices makes it almost impossible to not leave this place with something. I would recommend this to others. read more

Shoe Department. This is why retail is in trouble. One ill-dressed man (t-shirt and khakis, mask under chin) at the register, no visible employees in the rest of the department. I waited in line to ask to see two styles of shoe that were not represented in the bargain basement stacks all around. When it was my turn at the register, I asked register dude if they had the shoes in question in a size 11. Yes, I know I have a large (some would say huge) foot, but it is what it is. His response? "No. We don't carry that size." Really? The Belk of old is GONE. No professional sales staff ~ in fact the current "staff" (one person) couldn't have cared less about our being there or our making a purchase. Online wins. I remember the day when elegantly dressed staff helped customers and modeled the well-dressed professionalism their wares might help you demonstrate. I'm glad I have the memory. I am very disappointed in this location. On Jan 25th I called belks and I spoke to Michael in the men's department. I asked him specific questions on some items(pajamas) I needed and was looking for. I even asked about specific colors and brand. He's stated that there was a plethora of the color, brand and size I needed. So I made my way from Alabaster to Hoover the very next day, To no avail, my color, nor brand was not available. Ha to add insult to injury, Michael, the associate I spoke to on the phone, was working and literally ignored me and attended to all other customers. My fiancé and I came to Belk to buy suits for our wedding. The suits were for myself and the groomsman. Huge shout out to the assistant/tailor extrodinaire William who was fantastic and the real reason this review is 5 stars. All my groomsman are overseas and we had their measurements to go off. William was able to interpret all the measurements correctly and mix and match 5 suits without a problem. He was patient with us and extremely well mannered and exhibited exemplary salesmanship. Belk in general has some good deals and we were able to capitalise on one of those getting the suits for more than half off the sticker price. In addition they have a good initial savings by signing up with their credit card. The card has no annual fee and is with it in my opinion. Till next time read more

I have come to truly loathe Belk. For one, the way they cram clothes into the store it has started to look like a thrift store. There may be high end items there, but good luck if you can find them. The sales associates are less than helpful, if you can find one to assist you. I once asked a shoe department rep to call another store to see if they had a particular shoe in stock. He sighed, rolled his eyes, and wrote down the number on a piece of paper. "Here" he said, "You can call them yourself." I think not. The store is also quite messy, if not dirty. If they are having a good sale, the shoe department is frequently littered with dozens if not hundreds of empty shoe boxes which have not been returned to the back room. I once ventured into the lingerie department and asked where the sale items were. The salesperson pointed to a plastic tote of underwear on the floor and said I could dig through them if I wanted to find a sale. The bathrooms are stale and unclean. The dressing rooms are a disaster. They often seem to advertise good sales, but the logistics of using the coupons is quite complicated as they exclude all kinds of items. Because of the ever present coupon and daily deals there is no real conception of what things cost there. Items always seem to be "marked down" or "couponed down" to a certain price, therefore justifying the ridiculous markup on the price tags for what often amounts to sub part clothing. Are there any managers at all at Belk? Who is running this place? I really don't see how it has lasted this long. Wednesday May19th I went to the Galleria location to make a return for merchandise ordered online. I entered the store and went to the handbag location in the store, walked around and couldn't find a sales associate anywhere but the shoe department. Evidently there was a problem there was a lady purchasing clothing, I had a return and2 other customers lined up behind me. When I got to the counter the young man told me "he would take my return this time but I should take it back to handbags." I told him there was no one in handbags,he said well there should be. I responded I would have returned them there if there had been anyone in the department. I then told him I would find someone else to help me because I didn't want to inconvenience him. Needless to say I had to go to the men's department to find anyone. Stephenie was so very nice and it didn't bother her that I had handbags and a dress to return. It took me 45 minutes to return my items, all because there were No sales associates to help customers. I don't appreciate the attitude of the shoe sales associate. Southern Charm at it's best on the part of the salesfolk. And a HUUUGE selection of nightgowns, jammies, and robes I will no doubt long for when I hit the big 6-0. BIG points, however, for scoring my much-longed-after Bonnie Cashin Coach tote at the ridiculously marked down from $300 price of $75. Which I will pretend I paid fill price for. I also got several gifts (not purchased there) beautifully wrapped for a very reasonable price (around $7 per large-ish package) by a gift wrapper who was sweet as pecan pie and destined for Santa's elf-hood. All in all, it's not a bad place. There's a decent selection of Seven jeans, Rock and Republic, Paper Denim, Free People (very big in the south), and a bunch of other standard designers in case you forgot to pack your favorite skinny jeans or fly-away top for hot nights out at the clubs in Atlanta (ummm...yeah). This is the equivalent of Macy's East (and there is one in the same shopping center). I prefer Macy's but Belk has some amazing sales, especially around the holidays. Belk is typically understaffed but there are generally bargains to be had if you're willing to do a bit of shopping. The overworked staff is friendly and works at a quick pace to keep up with customers. I've never changed my review while still in a store but there is a first for everything. I just witnessed a clerk refuse to help my wife "because we work on commission". Stupid, arrogant fool. She's here to buy two pairs of high end shoes and this dude is too busy straightening merchandise and acting important to pull a pair of shoes. That's madness. read more

Visited this location while in town visiting family. I have never heard of this chain before as they do not have them up North (That I'm aware of). The store is very big and is a little hard to navigate but will all the name brands and different items they carry here I can see why. A big plus for my wife was they carry her favorite line of clothing and have items marked at as much as 50% off (My wallet is very grateful for deals that good!). We ended up purchasing a few things and got them at great prices. The only real negative and reason the store gets 3 stars is because of the lack of employees they have working. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and most of the check out counters did not have anyone at the register. A female employee in the men's Ralph Lauren section was operating two registers at once because the lines were so long. The employee did do a great job getting through the lines quickly but lack of employees is definitely a major deterrent for me as a shopper. read more

On Saturday August 4, 2018 I visited the Riverchase Galleria location of Belk in Birmingham, Alabama to return a couple pairs of shoes that I'd previously purchased. I visited this location against my better judgement because I was close as the Summit location is usually my go-to location due to the consistent horrible customer service at the Riverchase location. I was parked closest to men's shoes so I wen there to make my return, but the sales guy whose name I was unable to get rudely refused and told me I would have to return them in women's shoes. Not a big deal aside from the fact that he was very nasty, and I have previously returned a pair of women's shoes to the men's department before. I proceeded to the women's shoe department and after waiting several minutes for someone to assist me David came over and I informed him that I wanted to return some shoes without a receipt, but the purchase was on my Belk card. I swiped my card and he then scanned the shoes and told me they were not purchased with my card. I told him they were, and he became very rude and argumentative with me. I asked for a manager and he called Valerie and I explained what happened to her and she dismissed my concerns. Valerie was not rude, but she did not address the issue with David nor did she apologize for his behavior. At this point I had become very irritated and was ready to go so I gave her the same scenario and she was able to pull up my purchase using my card with no problem and returned the shoes. I had a negative experience with the sales lady Corrissa:041238 today, Dec 7. I picked out a free people dress (1119 the delightful mini) that my daughter saw in the store a few days ago. She loved it! So I decided to purchase it as a Christmas gift for her. I asked another associate to explain the sizing for a small fit in the European number size on the dress, and she did. When I got to the register Corrissa's demeanor was dry. I asked her to verify the number of the size needed for my daughter, she reluctantly pulled up the online dress in different colors. She made a comment about the size 2UK dress and whether my daughter could fit it. Comparing her size to the dress in my hand, she made a negative statement. I interjected to say my daughter was smaller and she seemed even more annoyed. I meant no harm, and called my daughter to help with sizing. After I paid $162.06 Corrissa took the dress off the hanger, without asking if I wanted to keep it and then folded up the dress to put in a bag. I asked Corrissa would she please use the hanger instead and cover the $160 dress nicely. She never apologized for the handling of this purchase. It may not mean anything to bell that I will never purchase from this location again. Merry Christmas! read more

Belk is probably the worst department store in the world. I have a gift card with this horrid place and tried to place an order online. However, every time I try to use my gift card the order gets rejected. I also spent so much time on the phone with a customer rep who also tried to place an order over the phone but to no success. Is Belk running a scam by preventing consumers to use their gift cards? Horrible, horrible, horrible. read more

Lots of negative reviews for this Belk, but I've never really had a problem with it. The store is usually fairly cleaned and well stocked, and I've had friendly service at the counter where the lady's dresses are. Negatives I've seen: Lady's dresses area dressing rooms aren't the nicest. Disorderly, clothes strewn about, cheap doors, that ugly carpet and blinding light, no full length mirrors outside the dressing room. Some of the racks of clothes can get messy. But for a store with so much space and product, that's understandable. Some of the employees are pretty loud phone talkers, which is annoying when shopping on the floor near them. My biggest pet peeve though? Full Christmas decorations out at the end of October. Why? Why?! It's 75 degrees outside, not even daylight savings time yet, and I'm trying to survive Halloween and you've got your dang Christmas trees up? Interesting that it's been recently announced that Belk may be for sale. I do find some reasonable deals there and they have a couple of brands I like but we all know that this is no Parisians. That said, my low rating is more based on the cleanliness, or lack thereof. The place was filthy. Specifically the men's dressing rooms which have tile floors covered in dust bunnies and hundreds of pins. No way that placed has been cleaned in months. I have been to this location many times, but the last is the one I would like to mention. The store looked like a war zone. It was not a holiday weekend, but they were having a pre-sale. Obviously there were not enough employees to clean the areas, and I can normally look past that, but this time it actually made it difficult to shop. The shoes were not in the boxes, for the most part, and many were not even on the same shelves as their mates. The racks in the clothing departments were a total mess, and there were even mounds of clothes on the counters behind the registers waiting to be put up. The employees tried to be helpful and courteous, but were really overwhelmed. They didn't seem to be well-informed of the terms of the pre-sale, so time was wasted making frequent phone calls to find out information that should have been disseminated earlier. I can't be in the Rome store long because that music absolutely drives me nuts. I hate the music they play. It is also way too loud. It is not relaxing. It is so hot in that store, who wants to try on clothes or shop when you are ill and burning up. You can find good deals and nice items but the environment for shopping is less than desirable. It is mostly older shoppers there, they should cater to an older group. Corporate needs to go shop there. Not somebody who is in their head. Somebody who is aware of what is going on around them. I made a return from an online purchase. The cashier asked another how to do the tax. The helper told her online does not charge tax. I have been every time! I explained that and she asked for my credit card that I paid with. She said it came up as me paying tax at the 10% I told her I paid. I signed and walked away. I was still in the same dept when I looked at the receipt and noticed it was taxed at 9%. I saw the lady walking around and she told me to go to the lady who helped her. That person was on the very opposite side of the store. She told me as the customer to go to the cashier. That to me was wrong all together. I walked to her and the lady listened to me, looked at me with disgust and then got on the phone. She called management with an extreme attitude in her voice all about that's what the computer told her I paid. Management came out and asked where I paid from. I paid from home. She asked the same question again. I paid from home, snotty management lady. Then she got on the phone and learned in fact that I paid 10% tax. She did not say a word to let me know that was what she found out. She did not say a word to me at all. She handed me the receipt to sign. Belk management and staff could use plenty of customer service training! The Belk staff are in fact a pain to deal with. Belk advertises being Southern. Their Southern definition has no clue what Southern Hospitality is all about! read more
