My last few trips to the Galleria have consisted of me entering through Macy's. I usually like shopping at Macy's. This location seems to still have a faithful following. Like many department stores since the pandemic, Macy's is looking a little anemic. Especially on the 3rd floor, where there is normally a section curtained off that's used for Christmas, there was an additional area curtained off. Can't really tell what was missing, though I think it's where a lot of the bedding and towels used to be. That said, I was there to return something I had ordered. Return process was easy. We previously also purchased our mattress and box springs from Macy's last year just before Thanksgiving. Like many other industries, there were delays with the order from the mattress manufacturer, but Macy's was good about keeping us up to date and rescheduling the delivery. They usually have a good sale a couple times a year, and we couldn't beat the price anywhere else. read more

Normally, I shop at Macy's online and I love that experience. Shopping in the store, however, is an experience I can pass on. Department stores want to know how they can get people back in the door? One way would be offering decent service to your customers. So, I went into Macy's today to shop at the Lancôme counter. I walked around the counter twice and didn't see anyone. There was an employee nearby at another counter. She eventually asked did I need anything. I told her I wanted a particular Lancôme product. I started to ask about the size and price and she rushes to tell me that she's not the Lancôme rep. I said, "Okay. I already know what I want, I just have a few questions. Can you give me basic I information?" She reluctantly gets a card that has information about the product. I really wasn't feeling her attitude so I made an excuse to leave. She tells me it would be better for me to come back when the Lancôme rep is there, which would be tomorrow. I had a few other places to stop in the mall. When I came back through Macy's, a different lady was behind the Lancôme counter. I assume she was the Lancôme rep because she was helping someone. Macy's totally missed out on me purchasing with them because of the lackluster service of the employee I encountered. I'll still shop at Macy's, but it will be online. read more

Macy's Galleria store is messy, DIRTY, and poorly merchandised. It's so frustrating to try and shop there, remembering what a great store it used to be. I don't think the building has been renovated once since it opened as Rich's in the mid-80s. Tile floors are cracked; walls are full of holes and still painted yellow beige. The dressing rooms are filthy. They've reduced their brand to being a bargain/thrift store. I expect great things from the Macy's based on its past. Unfortunately, their present is just sad. read more

Macy's is one of my favorite department stores, and this one in the galleria is possibly my favorite one of their locations. They have a furniture collection which really sets them apart from the other department stores, and this location is three levels high. I usually shop in their juniors section or their Macy's backstage section. It's easy to find shirts and tops under $5 here. My last visit here I bought what is probably a homecoming or spring formal dress. Hey. It fit and was on sale. I'll probably wear this to a wedding or other formal event. I love the sales here but it's impossible to return anything here or even to do a simple exchange. Basically even if you have a receipt you're not allowed to exchange an item bought on sale let alone return it. They also don't call you when your item arrives. I lost 2 hours while the sales associates at the fine jewelry counter tried reordering a chain that arrived broken. (initially ordered online and had it shipped to the store) They had to order it from another store and couldn't figure out how to do that. I worked in retail less than a year and knew how to do that by week one. I felt like telling them let me back there. Just search the code, pull up the store. Call them, give them my card info and place the order. When my necklace came in, they never called. So I lost 2 hours and my necklace. They would never pick up when I called either. The store is usually very disorganized as well. Great prices but be prepared to be stuck with damaged products. Now I open items I get online right there and return right away if they don't meet my expectations. Make sure you try on everything bought on sale including jewelry and intimates. Because they will NOT accept returns on most items. Workers here look miserable. No one is rude but most seem bothered by the mere existence of costumers. read more

If I could give a negative five stars I would!!! I bought an expensive air fryer from Macy's.com.-which quite working within a week. We live 1.5 hours away from a Macy's-so I brought it to the store for an exchange when we had a soccer tournament here in Birmingham. I stood in line holding this heavy item while they looked around for another employee's lost house key lime the three stooges-ignoring me. Once the elderly lady asked how she could help-I told her my situation-only for her to say they don't accept online returns. I told her that's ridiculous! She sassily asked why I thought that!!! In a bad tone! I told her other retailers take their online items back-jcpennys sears, etc. She just stared at me so off I lugged my air fryer. I don't like shopping, especially in malls but I know the only way for me to obtain the things I want and need is to do some form of shopping, so online for things such as shoes and some clothing items is my best option. I wanted some type of sneaker that I could slip on for work on any day that I had on something brownish. Also this shoe couldn't be what I consider bulky. Online I go!!! The review and rating is for the "At Your Service Center." I found the shoe that fit the above description on macys.com and they were on sale. YAY!!! I am sure many know and understand the struggle of finding a brand and believing that you have the sizing down pack. I found a pair of Skechers and since I've had a few in the past I was confident in my size. Not the case. This is the second time I've ordered from macys.com for pickup in store and had to return the shoe because of the wrong size. The first return was not a pleasant experience and the young lady was not helpful at all when I picked up my order in store. On this visit, let's say, I tried my shoes on before I left the store and mentioned to the young lady that I wanted to return for a different size. She not only did a return for me but also ordered my new size. Oh and she tried to apply a coupon, it didn't work on this purchase. At least she tried and I didn't even have to ask. Different day, a pleasant and more helpful person!!! I told her how appreciative I was of all her help and she set the order to be shipped to my home. One less trip back to the mall. read more

On 11/13/2024 at 10:10 am, my daughter and I went to shop for a sentimental jewelry piece for my daughter, who had just had cardiac surgery, and I had just arrived from San Diego. I wanted to buy her a unique piece of jewelry to remind her of how far she had come. Everything was going well, and the lady helping us look at the rings was very pleasant and professional. Suddenly, an apparent supervisor came beside me, so close I could feel her breathe. She was rude and unprofessional, as if we were criminals who would steal the rings. She even dared to grab a ring from my daughter's hand and informed the woman helping us where to place the items. I have shopped at Macy's for over 50 years and have never been treated so badly. I will never go back to this store again, nor will my friends or family. Still, I wanted to ensure this behavior will be corrected as the supervisors must learn how to read their shoppers and improve their professional skills. read more

Spent 20 minutes in the men's clothing section looking at suits. Never saw a Macy's employee.

This was stop #1 on my weekday "Try to buy a suit" tour, and it did not disappoint, in that it was a complete waste of time. For being mid-week and very quiet, the racks were a MESS. I would have thought they'd have plenty of time to get things at least a little organized... This being a 21st century department store, no employees were in sight, so we were left to sort through the racks on our own. I grabbed a bunch of Calvin Klein pants and jackets, located a fitting room (that was also a MESS), and proceeded to try things on. While the jackets were nice, the pants were just not working, so we went back to see if other designers had suit separates. We didn't see anything, but managed to locate exactly one employee who was moving displays in hosiery. When I asked about suits, she pointed us back to exactly where we came from, despite me specifying that I had already tried Calvin Klein and was looking for other options. Also, despite their "Backstage" area in the basement full of clearance, there seemed to be at least some clearance racks in the main store too. Had we by some miracle found something worth buying, there were no cashiers in evidence, so I'm not sure how we would have paid. Between the complete lack of help and general disaster area of the available merchandise, next time I think about going to Macy's, I'll think again. Hard pass. read more

Macy's is known for quality and great sales. The stores have lovely decor, and current styles. Shopping in-store opens questions of customer care with 2 stars deducted for the messy clearance area, the bathrooms in need of a more frequent and thorough cleaning and the odor in the bathrooms. The shoe department requires the customer to ask the one sales person in the department to go to the back for the shoe you need. It's a very slow process and not worth the effort. I'd rather go elsewhere. read more

I dont go here much except when I'm looking for shoes(boots) specifically or socks . What shocked me the most was zero customer service. I remember a time when Macy's was fancy. When someone would accost you from the make-up counter, to the fragrance counter, shoes. There was always a helpful associate . Those were days in the past when the galleria wasnt past it's prime I guess. Many counters were empty of associates even registers didnt have employees running them. Had to search for a cashier. The cashier we got said her machine wasn't working properly. You can imagine she wasn't in a friendly mood . A lady in front of us in line got tired of waiting and left. I did get some boots for a great price! Would I go b yeah if they have boots on sale . Around this time Macy's, JCPenney's, etc put boots to a more affordable price . They jack the price way too high during most of the year. Paying for that brand name ..Oh also must mention the shoe department looked like a tornado had hit it so seems no associate is working in that department. This particular location is A-OK. Service can be a hit or miss - I've had experiences where service was at a bare minimum to practically nonexistent. On the other hand, I've also had experiences where service was excellent, but that's when I was purchasing expensive jewelry - I assume those store associates receive commissions payouts and were just upselling. Generally this store is pretty organized, but some parts are fairly messy or rather uninviting - it just feels like a flea market formed in a rush. I'd like to specifically call out the Macy's shoe department. They need to get their ducks in a row. Although, from a pricing perspective, the women's shoe department does have some killer deals on those clearance racks. My other pain point is the fitting rooms, which can be a total disarray at times. Are you guys just severely shorthanded? I'm here wondering, in such a competitive/fierce retail environment, why wouldn't Macy's pick up their game? With that said, my justification for rating Macy's a four star is that my expectation is not around the cleanliness/organization at the store nor the level of service provided, but rather on good bargain deals. Essentially i'm here looking for the best bang for the buck. Jasmine was not nice at all. She didn't return my call as promised either when she couldn't make a phone transfer to customer service. I was in the market for some new sunglasses. I knew about what I wanted and I knew I was going to be spending a little over $100. I first went to Dicks Sporting Goods at Patton Creek. I was immediately asked if I wanted to apply for a credit card upon entering the store. This really gets on my nerves for some reason. All glasses were locked behind glass. I stood at counter for 10 minutes and no one ever even acknowledged me or offered to help. I left frustrated and went to the Sunglasses Hut at Macy's across the street in the Galleria. I am usually not a fan of malls or department stores. However, within 10 seconds of walking up, I was politely asked if I needed help by Haley. All glasses were accessible and not locked away. I browsed and tried on several different pairs at my leisure. Within the time I had waited for no one to help me at Dicks, Haley had me checked out and on my way. I got a better price at Macy's for the same pair at Dicks. Haley even gave me a very nice case for my new glasses at no charge. The case retailed for $25 on Oakley's website. What a pleasant experience and Haley could not have been nicer. I will so be going back to Macy's the next time I need new shades!! read more

I bought a Beautyrest mattress from Macy's- I asked about the warranty, as well as many other questions. I was told Macys would handle any issues. I have slept on the mattress maybe 45 days. The technician Macys sent sent determined sag in middle is 1/2 inch. Macys customer service advised when sag/crevasse is 1 1/2 inches - then the warranty applied. The "contour" I experience is the normal. I was not told by sales staff there would be any sag or contours- definitely not told 1 1/2 " is the min. Very unhappy with the product, and Macys sales staff and customer service. read more

My fiancee and I went to the wedding registry first thing on Saturday morning, and we received excellent service from everyone we worked with, particularly Linda, Virginia, and Tanae. Linda and Virginia helped us get started with the registry process, even though the registry isn't their area (the registry desk wasn't officially open yet). They just saw we needed help and made sure we got it. Once we selected all our registry items and scanned them in, we then went back to the registry desk and worked with Tanae, who was just as helpful and courteous as Linda and Virginia. I recently went to the Estee Lauder counter at Macy's in the Riverchase Galleria. It was a terrible experience. First of all, there was no one to help me at any of the makeup counters for a good thirty minutes. Then, I was informed by a store employee that they had a meeting that morning, and the makeup artist for Estee Lauder would be with me shortly. The makeup artist had shown up to work in jeans and had to change into her work uniform. Finally another makeup artist who worked for Lancôme came over to help me. She told me she previously worked for Estee Lauder at another location. She helped match the makeup shade to my skin tone. She was great! The makeup artist for Estee Lauder finally came strolling up. She acted really annoyed that the other lady had helped me, but she didn't offer to take over for her. She wandered off again when the Lancôme makeup artist was looking for her to ring up my purchase. She finally came over to ring up my order, and forgot to take 15% off since there was a sale going on. This was the whole reason I went to Macy's. I had to remind her, and she acted slightly annoyed that I corrected her. After I got home, I didn't open the makeup until Monday morning when I went to get ready for work. IT WAS THE WRONG SHADE!!! The box was mislabeled, and there was a much darker shade it the box. I have never been so angry in my life! read more
