I wasted time telling him my son would be going to court but not as a defendant. He would be the arresting officer. That I had been out looking for a lost foster dog the reason I looked so casual but I assured him I could pay whatever their prices were. We were promptly greeted by a gentleman, and once he found out we were looking for women's clothes, he summoned a female sales rep. She seemed to know the stock, although she did warn me that things were picked over due to their winter sale. Yet, despite her assuring me that all their pants were styled the same, I tried three different pairs and each was off in its own way. Some were lined, some weren't, some fabric seemed to show every curve (good and bad!), some didn't... Honestly, it was weird. My usual size was on the snug side, but the next size up was huge. Since they do tailoring, the sales rep was telling me that they could take in the larger size, but honestly, between a huge waist and being way too long, I was afraid that any tailoring attempts would result in Franken-pants. And then do I have to pay for said pants anyway? Not something I want to find out. Now, jackets are a lot easier to fit for me, and Brooks Brothers has some beautiful ones. I loved the gray with white pinstripes, and the check-patterned navy. But these jackets were FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Like...come on! That is an INSANE amount of money! I forget how much the pants were, but we were basically looking at a close to $1,000 suit for me, with who knows how much tailoring required, some of which might be included (hemming), some of which might not be (taking in pants waist). And since we were looking at having to order some sizes, it would be another two trips to Birmingham to have everything fitted and altered, and they really wanted online orders to go through the store so they could get credit for them. Honestly, just thinking about all the guessing, ordering, fitting, waiting, and altering involved, with no real guarantee of success, makes me tired. So while appreciate the efforts they went to in trying to find something that worked for me, I think the upshot is that I'm just not a good fit for Brooks Brothers, both in body and in wallet.

Returns are always easy, and the cashiers are efficient and pleasant. I do shop this location periodically. It's about a 50/50 chance on whether the stock is orderly and organized. The worst area is usually the cosmetics and accessories (to the far right in the store). If you like to dig through the additional markdowns, it's not unusual to find items broken, sampled, etc. Same for the additional mark clothing; every once in a while those racks look more like thrift racks than clearance, but once you find that diamond in the rough it can be worth it. I do wish this location got more of the special occasion pieces, but either I always miss them or they go to different Rack locations. If you've got the time, it's a great place to find great prices on everything from budget-friendly brands to designer brands.

When shopping here I expect at least a 50% discount, but it's not uncommon to only find 25%-30% on discounted items. Even with these negatives, I've found great shoes and some clothing. I booked an appointment online at Jos A. Bank for my husband's Valentine's Day suit fitting. I…read moreaccidentally selected the wrong date, and when I called the store, I was told no one knew how to change it and that I needed to rebook online. The system would not allow me to modify it, so I ended up creating a new appointment under my name instead of my husband's. When we arrived, we were greeted and assigned to a young associate. While he was polite, it was clear he needed more training. He had difficulty locating the right suit jacket and did not ask about preferred material, style, or fit. I ultimately had to step in and select better quality and style options myself. After directing us to the fitting room, he left to assist other customers. I noticed another associate assisting a customer nearby, and he was excellent. He measured his client, discussed styles and alterations, and was very attentive. After my husband tried on pants that were too long for his liking, I asked that associate if we were supposed to be measured. He said yes and even suggested a more tapered pant style that would better suit my husband. He then informed our assigned associate of what we needed and encouraged him to assist us properly. From that point forward, the service improved. Overall, the experience was okay. I do not believe anyone intentionally dismissed us, but I did book an appointment with the expectation of being assisted throughout the process. We were there less than 30 minutes, and I don't feel that was too much to ask.
