Pretty old place - I have been coming here for a while now - actually close to 2 years now. My experience has been largely good here except the last time when I had my hair cut from the lady right on the opposite side of the entrance. It was definitely an experience that left me with tears in my eyes. Instead of hairs, my ears were cut. I didn't realize the extent of cut because the barber applied powder in that area. Somehow the pain was not that much to really panic. But once I came back I could totally see I was left with a serious cut. read more

I see reviews all over the place for Bel-RedBarbers. Actually, this isn't weird, and it doesn't hint at any conspiracy. It just shows that a haircut is a very subjective experience. This review is based on my personal opinion about my multiple experiences. Your mileage may vary. I have been here multiple times to have my hair cut and my beard trimmed. This is not a bargain price hair-cutting place. And, it's not a really high-priced salon either. In my opinion, Bel-Red Barbers is a mid-range priced hair cutting establishment. I have not seen any highly technical hair-styling work going on here. And, my own hairstyle choices are not complicated. So, I am reviewing this as a place that does general level hair-care and not high-level styling. I have been here multiple times to have my cut, and my beard trimmed. I've always found that all the barbers/stylists are very capable of cutting/styling hair. This place refers to itself as a barbershop, so they are probably acknowledging that they specialize in more general hair-cutting and hair-styling. They do this well, and I have not seen them claiming to be what they are not. So if you've got relatively normal hair-care needs, this is a great place to check out. read more

I have been coming here for almost a decade. The first few times I got barbers that did good work, until I found the one that made my haircut look great and I've been seeing that barber ever since. The location is close to my work so very convenient for me. It has an old barber shop look on the inside because they don't need to look modern to give great service. I came here on a whim. They have normal hours. Because they open at 8 o'clock and not 10 o'clock I decided to get a try. I came for a skin fade. I'm wearing a top knot/man bun so all I needed Was the skin fade on the sides and back. My stylist did excellent job. I did not ask for the straight edge razor, although that's an option. The price was perfect. $20 plus tip. She did a really nice job and I highly recommend this place. read more

I think I might have found my alternative to going to Rudy's here at Bel-Red Barbers. Since Rudy's raised their buzzcut price, I have been looking around for a barber for those instances in which I don't want to splurge on a hair salon cut but still want to look good. Bel-Red Barbers is located in what I call a bachelor's strip mall since it consists of a dry cleaners, a Jimmy John's and a meat shop alongside this barbershop. The interior of the barbershop is old school with ten barber chairs. Though on the late afternoon I visited, there were only three barbers cutting. As a result, there was a short wait. To pass the time, they had sports radio on and there were plenty of magazines to browse through. Though this barbershop offers men's and women's haircuts, the clientele is mostly male. The cost of a men's haircut runs $17 which is quite reasonable. Just a couple dollars more than a Rudy's buzzcut. I am willing to pay the extra few bucks to have the ability to call the shots on what I want my hair to look like. I didn't give much direction aside from wanting it cut short and leaving more hair on top. Despite the lack of info, my haircut turned out great. This barbershop offers up great value and provides a haircut as good as a hair salon. The only difference I see is the approach. Barbershops are a bit workman like compared to the finesse and style of a hair salon. If you are looking for a no nonsense place to get your haircut done in Bellevue, Bel-Red Barbers is a nice option. read more

Usually, this place gives decent haircuts - just depends on who you see I guess and "who's available" (as everyone was sitting around, I got passed to someone who I hadn't seen working there before) She never really understood the cut I was looking to get nor did she really try to. She proceeded to use scissors all over my head. She finally did stop and ask me how it looked and I told her to just take a couple inches off the top because it wasn't looking anything like what I expected. When she got done with the second round, nearly all my hair was gone- again with scissors. I've had to have some family try and fix it up because it looked worst than something you'd see from a great clips. I even paid her because it's covid and times I'm sure are tough. All this to say, I know hair grows back and I'm fine rocking a unique haircut for a little until that happens but I'd be cautious going here. It's like a box of chocolates. read more

If your looking to get a haircut as fast as possible this is the place for you! You pay close to $30 for a haircut and they dont take their time whatsoever. They try to finish as quickly as possible to get to the next customer and make their money. I showed James a picture of what I wanted for my haircut, he quickly glanced at it and didn't even attempt to imitate what I asked for. He simply cut my hair the way he was used to doing, finished in about 15 minutes, and sent me on my way. If your okay with mediocre haircuts for premium prices, dine within 15-20 minutes, this is the spot for you. read more

My first time at this barber. I saw that it had pretty good ratings so I wanted to check it out. As soon as I got there an Asian lady asks me to sit down and that's where everything went wrong. I asked her for a 1 fade on the side and a slight trim on the top. Just in case she didn't hear, I let her know again that I only want my top barely trimmed. The whole time I didn't know what was going on because the chair is facing the TV. Not one time did she show me what was going on with my hair and whether or not I liked it. When she was done, she faced the chair to the mirror and I was in shock. I was so mad and asked her why she cut it so short, but she answered with a broken sentence that didn't even make sense. I understand that she can't speak English that well but if you're cutting someone's hair and providing a service to someone, you need to understand what the customer is saying. This is absolutely the worst haircut I ever received. If you're going to allow people to cut hair in your barbershop, you need to train them to provide a good service. I don't recommend this place to anyone if they are just letting random barbers cut a customer's hair. read more

The barbers here take time and care with everyone and their skills are better than you will find in a typical barbershop. Found this little gem in Bellevue for my elderly father a few months ago. They are always kind and patient. Many of their barbers have 10+ years of experience so if our regular barber is busy, we have no problem with going to other barbers. They are very reasonably priced for the area and for the barbers' years of experience. read more

This is a joke! Its definitely not cheap - 25$ for a simple haircut and 27$ for fade. I understand COVID and everything but how dare you charge so much money (60$/hour) and do such a bad job!? You should be embarrassed and can't call your shop a "Barbershop". Had a bad experience - no razor edge finish, no fade at all (asked for straight high fade to skin). Pros: Convinient location and a tad cheaper than other options in the area Cons: Place looks shabby. Equipment seems old. My barber (name starts with B) must be a smoking gun - he smelt like a cigar from a distance. He was also extremely rough with his handling. I was just hoping that he'd not cut me open. I've been going here for years. James is my go-to Barber and I can't say enough about him. Always does a fantastic job and he's just an overall great person. My kids and I have seen some of the other barbers over the years and they have each given us great haircuts as well. That being said, James is still the best in my book! read more

Love this place. Felt totally comfortable with all the precautions for the prevention of COVID 19. I've been for 3 haircuts since they were able to open. Place is cleaned constantly. Everyone wears masks. Panels separate each station. Door is open. But most important of all - A GREAT HAIRCUT EVERY TIME. I had to write a review because it was the worst haircut that i had ever got. I was a bit late 15 min before closing time and James(that was the name of the coat he was wearing) said "ya I can give you a haircut, though its late". I expected even though I was late(15 min before closing time) either I would be denied entry or he would cut professionally. Well during the cut it seemed that he was cutting my hair randomly but didnt think of it much as expected him to know more than me. When I reached home and saw my hair they were cut unequally almost everywhere and he had effectively ruined my hair and look. Be careful who you get to cut your hair. I just had the worst haircut of my life and all I asked for was a simple line-up. Apparently a licensed barber in this place thinks a line-up is the same thing as grabbing a razor and shaving off one's entire hairline. Now I have to wear hats for at least two months because my hair grows slowly. This is not the first time I've had a subpar haircut here - lopsided edges, uneven lengths, overextended fades... all with different barbers. I guess I never learnt my lesson until now. If you don't have a recommended person in mind, don't get railroaded by taking the next available barber - it's a gamble. I've been going here since 1998 to get my hair cut. My kids grew up getting their hair cut here. This is an old-school local barber shop with great prices and walk-in service. Nothing fancy. If you want you hair colored, go someplace else. If you want a regular barber cut, this is a good choice. read more

Excellent Hair Cut - I have twice visited Bel-Red Barbers and today was my 2nd time. For nearly 20 years I cut my own hair, but cutting the back was always a problem. Now that I live alone, I decided it was time to have my hair cut by someone else instead of doing this myself. Before leaving for the barber shop I printed a picture of how I wanted my hair cut. Since returning home and after taking a shower and washing my hair (until you wash your hair you never know how your hair cut turned out) I am very pleased with the cut; no complaints. When Jay was done, and when comparing the picture to the hair on my head, the hair cut matched the picture exactly meeting all my expectations. The hair-cutting woman I had here (I won't call her a stylist, since there wasn't any style involved) wore plastic gloves while she cut my hair, and didn't say anything to me other than grunting. Most barbers will stand close enough to you to work effectively, but this woman stood as far away from me as she could. I felt like I was getting my hair cut at a grade-school cafeteria. If you want a decent, inexpensive men's haircut and you don't like the corporate-trained drones at the likes of SuperCuts and Great Clips, this is the place for you. It's fairly inexpensive (around $15 for your average dude) and the staff is friendly and professional. The place is busy but I've never had to wait for a haircut. My favorite part of the haircut is the high-powered vacuum they run over my head to suck up all the loose little hairs. Don't you hate getting a haircut and shedding for the rest of the day?
