My partner and I our attending a wedding July 3rd. We have been looking for a good barber shop to go to. We had such a hard time because it's wedding season. Everything was booked! Until we found this place that took walk ins and had good reviews. We are a biracial couple, unfortunately now a days that matters, because people treat you differently. We called prior to going. We walk in and there were two barbers cutting hair and 3 adult males and a little boy waiting. As we entered and said hello we received a cold silence and a eye roll. My partner then tried to speak to them. I was frustrated with the blatant disrespect so I simply walked out. I told my partner he could handle it from here. My husband asked for number 0 cut. Simple right? Prices went from $25 to $42 since October for whatever reason. The barber complained he couldn't see anything because the shop had no lighting. A 40% increase in price could surely buy some light bulbs. This is the haircut he got, it's a joke. Few and far between do I visit an establishment and can't wait to rush home to tell everyone else about it. I will say Bellevue Barber Shop is one of these establishments. Kurt is the man! I was in need of a covid cut as things were getting a little ugly up top and my barber i've been going to for 15 years is just too far away from my new work place. I began searching on google for close by shops for men's haircuts, many was appointment only and booked out or they charged $65+ for a men's cut. Desperate and nearly willing to for over the dough - I made one more call to BBS and Kurt told me to come on over! no appointment needed. Easy free parking in the garage and the elevator goes straight up to BBS. Smaller shop that has an old barber feel with nice modern amenities and shields in place for this new norm of social distancing and whatnot. I was warmly greeted by Kurt and his dog Samantha. Sat down, Kurt asked how I like my hair, I told him in detail the best I could and he did exactly that - second to the best part... he even finished with a straight edge! I mean - really - who does that anymore? The BEST part - $30!!!! Given there was no shampoo treatment like at my barbershop but for downtown Bellevue - easy parking - and a high quality cut and great conversation with Kurt, he's been cutting hair for 37+ years and his pops owned the shop before he did and they've been around since the 40s. So thanks Kurt! You've got a new client for as long as you will have me! Simple quick and easy! Went in for a quick cut, only waited for 10mins before getting a cut and beard trim. There is also a nice bakery next door to grab a drink or bite to eat. I've never done a Yelp review before but I needed to sign up solely to give a transparent review on the guy with glasses who cuts hair in the middle chair...HE IS TERRIBLE! Not only did he do an awful job and not listen to what I wanted, the entire process took less than 10 minutes! No exaggeration...10 minutes. The last time I lost money ($30) that fast was sitting down at a blackjack table at the casino. He cut my hair so fast that the two adjacent chairs that had customers were still getting their hair cut by the time my guy was finished (I started well AFTER the other two customers sat down). I've never gone back to get a haircut fixed but I was so dissatisfied that the very next day I went to a different barber shop to get my haircut corrected. My wife and the new barber also agreed it was terrible/laughable. This place has a cool history and vibe but I will never be coming back. The bald guy (Tim?) used to cut my hair and is friendly/good but he was with another customer and I figured I'd give clowney a shot. What a mistake. Drove up from Renton due to the high reviews of this place and they are all true. Recently retired Navy Veteran who was preparing for a job interview the following day and wanted to look my best. Needed a place that wouldn't break my wallet but would also do a beard trim. Walked in and waited about 5 min. Didn't catch his name but all three seemed like pretty cool dudes.
