So I am not new to Georgian cuisine, we have a great place back home in Mt. Kisco, but my mother…read morehad never had Georgian before so we gave it a go. Restaurant itself is in a bit off the beaten track in a strip mall with mostly non-food businesses. We were there on a Thursday evening which was not busy time. Clearly a family run business with one person cooking (the husband?) and one person serving (the wife?). When we arrived around 730 there was only one other table occupied and no one minding the front of the house so we seated ourselves. It was over 5 minutes before the server appeared from the kitchen but once we got her attention we were given menus. Had to remind her to bring us water. The restaurant itself was very homey and pleasant. On the food side of things we were very satisfied, absolutely delicious . We had the Eggplant Rolls and a Khachapuri Adjaruli (the one that looks like a boat with the egg yolk on top), both were very tasty. I had the Lula Kebab (land and beef kinda like a Kofta Kabab) and my mom had the Chicken Kebab. Both were delicious. I give the waitress credit because when I was ordering I almost ordered the fried potatoes as a side, but she made a face which I correctly intercepted to mean it was gonna be too much food for the 2 of us, which would have been true. Def too one leftovers. Would def recommend checking out this place, food is really good.

My husband and I are making it a mission to try new cultural cuisines/restaurants and I have always…read morewanted to try Georgian food - however the only thing I really only knew about it was that they had big dumplings. Seeing those was enough for me to want to try! We went with two of our friends who have also never tried before. We went on a Sunday afternoon and arrived to a fairly empty plaza. There was one other table full besides ours and they seemed to be of Georgian background so that was already an indication that this restaurant was going to be authentic. We told our waiter that we have never had any kind of Georgian food before and to please give us recommendations. He was very kind and gave us great recommendations for newbies. We ordered: * eggplant rolls (fried eggplant with walnut-garlic paste) * khachapuri adjaruli (boat-shaped bread filled with cheese, butter, and an egg yolk) * veal khinkali (Georgian soup dumplings) * pork kebab * chkmeruli (chicken in creamy garlic sauce) We enjoyed - every - single dish. Oftentimes, eggplant can be a bit slimy, but however they prepared this eggplant, it was perfect. This is a cold dish. The khachapuri adjaruli was very rich. It was a bit messy to eat as there's no way to cut into this without the mixture oozing out. We saw the table next to us had ordered a different version of this (just with cheese alone) and they had no issue with a mess so I think it's because we had the one with the addition of butter and an egg yolk. Even though it was messy to eat, it was DELICIOUS. Honestly, this could've just been a full meal itself as it's incredibly filling. Just a suggestion to the restaurant to perhaps use a serving dish with edges for this particular khachapuri though to prevent spilling! The khinkali was our favorite of everything ordered. It was 5 very large dumplings in one order. Being of East/Southeast Asian and used to smaller sized dumplings, seeing how big these were was a treat! The waiter kindly taught us how to properly eat these (hold the stem, flip it upside down, take a nibble of the skin, sip out the soup, then fully eat these whole thing). Next we had the pork kebab. We originally wanted lamb, but they had run out so we opted for pork instead. Usually a lot of places tend to overcook pork so it is dry, but these were cooked so well! It was served with some kind of tomato sauce that paired great with it. The chkmeruli was ordered by our friend who absolutely loved and obliterated the dish. I don't think I need to say more. Overall, we had such a wonderful meal and experience and definitely recommend this place!

Others, like "Moscow on the Sea" are less explored, even by locals. The shady world of grey money emphasizing itself through extravagant condos that never have a resident, persistently present black G Wagons and a sense of stepping into a different world. Ararat, is exactly that. While the restaurant is Armenian, it appeals heavily to all Eastern Europeans in the area, more heavily Russians and Ukrainians. It's a place that shows that despite everything going on in the world, here, all are friends sharing a wonderfully cheesy khachapuri from the table. The live music is something else, with talented Armenian singers and melodies that are as soulful as life itself. Aside from the khachapuri cheese pies, the kharcho soup is phenomenal. There are Armenian and Georgian wines on the menu, which really cannot be missed. The vibe is truly transformative into a land far away from Miami and perhaps, even a different time. This is a place to enjoy life and think of little else.

Just to give you a rundown, start with Khachapuri for the whole table to share. This is just a boat-shaped bread filled with melted cheese, butter, and make sure you get it with the egg options. Tear the crust, mix the center together, and use the rest of the bread to dip inside the mix For main plate, you should try Khinkali, which is a dumpling stuffed with meat and broth. I also recommend Ozhakhuri if you want so thing simpler, which is a mix of pork, potatoes, and other vegetables and seasoning So Askaneli is a large restaurant, and at the time I went had a nice and private ambiance. The server was good and let us sample Georgian wines. And the food was obviously great. So if you are looking to try something different, I'd say go to Askaneli and try good Georgian cuisine for yourself

When we arrived and walked through the front door, the restaurant was completely empty... No host, no staff, no one in sight. We waited around for about 15 minutes before deciding to walk around the property, where we eventually found a side entrance near the bar with two employees. When we told them we were there to dine, they seemed genuinely shocked by the size of our group, despite the fact that we reminded them we had a reservation. We were then asked to wait another 15 minutes while they prepared a table. During this time, the air conditioning inside was not on, which is unacceptable given this is South Florida and the heat can be relentless. We ended up asking to sit outside, which was surprisingly cooler. Once seated, we immediately noticed bird droppings on the floor and on a wall/pillar just inches away from our table. It was very off-putting and confusing why this wasn't cleaned, especially since the outdoor area is clearly meant for guests. Service continued to be disorganized. After sitting for several minutes, we were finally asked if we wanted anything to drink, and we requested water. Immediately after that, we were asked what we wanted to order for dinner -- before we even had time to look at the menu. It felt rushed and poorly timed. When the food began coming out, it arrived in random spurts rather than together. Half of our group received their meals and started eating, while the other half waited over 20 minutes. At one point, more of our food was brought out -- but instead of being served to us, it was left sitting on the bar nearby for about 15 minutes. We had to ask three separate times if that food was ours, get ignored, then FINALLY be told, "Oh yeah, sorry, we'll serve you now." By that point, the food had been sitting out, exposed, and had gone cold. Not to mention we were already outside so I'm sure some flies were on and around the food. The server attempted to give us the food and we told him it was cold. He then said he would "warm it up". We had to explicitly ask for fresh plates, which should never have been necessary. By the time the replacements arrived, the rest of the party had already been waiting 30+ minutes after others had finished eating. The entire experience just felt chaotic. There was obviously a noticeable inconsistency in service. A table next to us appeared to be receiving extremely attentive service, while our table struggled to get even basic needs met. I think they may have been Georgian so they got special treatment. One of the particularly frustrating issues was water -- all of us were drinking water, and not once were our glasses refilled until the very end, when they were completely empty and we were visibly thirsty. Even then, we had to ask for more water!! Because this was a birthday celebration, we had originally planned on getting dessert, but given everything that had happened, we decided to just ask for the check. Getting our check took an additional 20+ minutes to arrive. To add to the confusion, another staff member repeatedly brought food to our table that none of us had ordered, forcing our server to redirect him to the correct tables. It seemed like nobody was trained?? With all that said, the food and drinks themselves were very good overall and tasted unique compared to standard offerings in the area. Our waitress was also very kind, and it was clear she was overwhelmed and likely did not have enough support to properly manage everything. The location is beautiful and has a great atmosphere, with fantastic views of the surrounding buildings and nearby water in Fort Lauderdale. Unfortunately, the lack of organization, cleanliness, and basic service overshadowed what could have been a great experience. I really am rooting for them and hoping they can get it together because it has potential.

We came with the family during the first half of the day and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant specializes in Uzbek and Russian cuisine and is located in a beautiful spot by the lake. There is plenty of parking, and one of the highlights is the outdoor terrace overlooking the water. The view is peaceful and makes for a very relaxing meal. I also loved the entrance design. There's a large decorative mirror surrounded by flowers, and the restaurant's logo is reflected in it. It's a thoughtful detail that immediately creates a welcoming atmosphere and makes a great photo spot. The restaurant was clean, the staff was polite, and service was fast. Our food arrived surprisingly quickly. I ordered a cappuccino, two khachapuri, and accidentally ordered Kharcho soup when I actually meant to order Solyanka. Thankfully, the Kharcho turned out to be delicious, so no regrets! My husband ordered a steak, while the kids were happy with chicken nuggets and fries from the kids' menu. For dessert, I finally got to try the Pavlova that I had seen on their Instagram page, and it did not disappoint. I've also heard that they host live entertainment and performances on weekends, which makes me want to come back and experience the restaurant in the evening. Overall, we left very satisfied and had a lovely family lunch. Thank you, Aida, for welcoming us so warmly. This review is a little overdue, but the visit was memorable and definitely worth sharing.

I did get the shrimp kabob & hubby got lamb kabob. Both very good. Obviously, too full for dessert.
