Others, like "Moscow on the Sea" are less explored, even by locals. The shady world of grey money emphasizing itself through extravagant condos that never have a resident, persistently present black G Wagons and a sense of stepping into a different world. Ararat, is exactly that. While the restaurant is Armenian, it appeals heavily to all Eastern Europeans in the area, more heavily Russians and Ukrainians. It's a place that shows that despite everything going on in the world, here, all are friends sharing a wonderfully cheesy khachapuri from the table. The live music is something else, with talented Armenian singers and melodies that are as soulful as life itself. Aside from the khachapuri cheese pies, the kharcho soup is phenomenal. There are Armenian and Georgian wines on the menu, which really cannot be missed. The vibe is truly transformative into a land far away from Miami and perhaps, even a different time. This is a place to enjoy life and think of little else.

When we arrived and walked through the front door, the restaurant was completely empty... No host, no staff, no one in sight. We waited around for about 15 minutes before deciding to walk around the property, where we eventually found a side entrance near the bar with two employees. When we told them we were there to dine, they seemed genuinely shocked by the size of our group, despite the fact that we reminded them we had a reservation. We were then asked to wait another 15 minutes while they prepared a table. During this time, the air conditioning inside was not on, which is unacceptable given this is South Florida and the heat can be relentless. We ended up asking to sit outside, which was surprisingly cooler. Once seated, we immediately noticed bird droppings on the floor and on a wall/pillar just inches away from our table. It was very off-putting and confusing why this wasn't cleaned, especially since the outdoor area is clearly meant for guests. Service continued to be disorganized. After sitting for several minutes, we were finally asked if we wanted anything to drink, and we requested water. Immediately after that, we were asked what we wanted to order for dinner -- before we even had time to look at the menu. It felt rushed and poorly timed. When the food began coming out, it arrived in random spurts rather than together. Half of our group received their meals and started eating, while the other half waited over 20 minutes. At one point, more of our food was brought out -- but instead of being served to us, it was left sitting on the bar nearby for about 15 minutes. We had to ask three separate times if that food was ours, get ignored, then FINALLY be told, "Oh yeah, sorry, we'll serve you now." By that point, the food had been sitting out, exposed, and had gone cold. Not to mention we were already outside so I'm sure some flies were on and around the food. The server attempted to give us the food and we told him it was cold. He then said he would "warm it up". We had to explicitly ask for fresh plates, which should never have been necessary. By the time the replacements arrived, the rest of the party had already been waiting 30+ minutes after others had finished eating. The entire experience just felt chaotic. There was obviously a noticeable inconsistency in service. A table next to us appeared to be receiving extremely attentive service, while our table struggled to get even basic needs met. I think they may have been Georgian so they got special treatment. One of the particularly frustrating issues was water -- all of us were drinking water, and not once were our glasses refilled until the very end, when they were completely empty and we were visibly thirsty. Even then, we had to ask for more water!! Because this was a birthday celebration, we had originally planned on getting dessert, but given everything that had happened, we decided to just ask for the check. Getting our check took an additional 20+ minutes to arrive. To add to the confusion, another staff member repeatedly brought food to our table that none of us had ordered, forcing our server to redirect him to the correct tables. It seemed like nobody was trained?? With all that said, the food and drinks themselves were very good overall and tasted unique compared to standard offerings in the area. Our waitress was also very kind, and it was clear she was overwhelmed and likely did not have enough support to properly manage everything. The location is beautiful and has a great atmosphere, with fantastic views of the surrounding buildings and nearby water in Fort Lauderdale. Unfortunately, the lack of organization, cleanliness, and basic service overshadowed what could have been a great experience. I really am rooting for them and hoping they can get it together because it has potential.

Seeing those was enough for me to want to try! We went with two of our friends who have also never tried before. We went on a Sunday afternoon and arrived to a fairly empty plaza. There was one other table full besides ours and they seemed to be of Georgian background so that was already an indication that this restaurant was going to be authentic. We told our waiter that we have never had any kind of Georgian food before and to please give us recommendations. He was very kind and gave us great recommendations for newbies. We ordered: * eggplant rolls (fried eggplant with walnut-garlic paste) * khachapuri adjaruli (boat-shaped bread filled with cheese, butter, and an egg yolk) * veal khinkali (Georgian soup dumplings) * pork kebab * chkmeruli (chicken in creamy garlic sauce) We enjoyed - every - single dish. Oftentimes, eggplant can be a bit slimy, but however they prepared this eggplant, it was perfect. This is a cold dish. The khachapuri adjaruli was very rich. It was a bit messy to eat as there's no way to cut into this without the mixture oozing out. We saw the table next to us had ordered a different version of this (just with cheese alone) and they had no issue with a mess so I think it's because we had the one with the addition of butter and an egg yolk. Even though it was messy to eat, it was DELICIOUS. Honestly, this could've just been a full meal itself as it's incredibly filling. Just a suggestion to the restaurant to perhaps use a serving dish with edges for this particular khachapuri though to prevent spilling! The khinkali was our favorite of everything ordered. It was 5 very large dumplings in one order. Being of East/Southeast Asian and used to smaller sized dumplings, seeing how big these were was a treat! The waiter kindly taught us how to properly eat these (hold the stem, flip it upside down, take a nibble of the skin, sip out the soup, then fully eat these whole thing). Next we had the pork kebab. We originally wanted lamb, but they had run out so we opted for pork instead. Usually a lot of places tend to overcook pork so it is dry, but these were cooked so well! It was served with some kind of tomato sauce that paired great with it. The chkmeruli was ordered by our friend who absolutely loved and obliterated the dish. I don't think I need to say more. Overall, we had such a wonderful meal and experience and definitely recommend this place!

Tblisi is the main city of the country of Georgia. We knew it was located not far from Turkey in the Caucasus mountain area, but not much else about the region or its food. The Cafe is located in a strip of stores, but it wasn't easy to find as the outside top marquee did not have a sign on it. I had to call and ask what they were near. The day was cool and rainy and we were in the mood for soup. We found a couple choices in their menu. The menu had items that reminded us of Turkish/Greek food and some Russian dishes. We were the only diners when we stopped by for lunch. Inside the room is darkened. Lots of interesting paintings and objects line the walls. We started with a rolled eggplant appetizer. I thought it would be served hot, but it was cold. The thin slices of eggplant were wrapped around a filling with walnut paste. I'm not sure what else was in it, but we both liked it. My husband had their meaty borscht soup. It had beets, cabbage, and potatoes, too. It came with a side of sour cream. He said it was quite good. I had their spicy veal soup. It was only slightly peppery and filled with lots of shredded meat. If you want to experience a cuisine you don't find a lot in south Florida , then venture here for a cultural exploration.

Their lamb kebob with fries looked really good too. I'll be trying that next time.

Just park back and walk through the outside pathway to get to the front. That being said, we were lucky for the rain cause last time we tried going to this place even the back was packed. This time we had a spot and got in. I want to start the actual review with the service and odd vibes that happened. The service was very slow and we found ourselves either waiting a long time or doing something ourselves to not have to wait. It started from the moment we were seated. We were left alone not given water or anything for a super long time. When we finally had our waitress arrive we were just ready to order everything at once. The odd vibe thing that happened was that at some point (I think it was before we got our food) someone who worked there with a professional camera asked for a photo. We declined and noticed after the person didnt ask anyone else. We made a joke about how it was probably so we can be a token lgbtq customers, but im thinking maybe its because we were in our running clothes so stood out compared to others (most folks there were either dressed less casual or at least were wearing jeans or something). Either way it was weird mainly because we didnt see her ask anyone else. The food arrived a bit out of order (we got our entrees first) but im assuming its cause they probably have two different kitchens (they have a huge array of food types). We ordered sushi and this is where I became my own server and got up to get the chopsticks near one of the kitchens. We also asked a server for water since through the time of the food arriving (we basically were done with our entrees by the time the sushi and specialty roll showed up) our waitress disappeared. She reappeared with the water after the server told her (though it did take long from the time we asked the server). Once we were done fully, our waitress disappeared again. Most of the time she was at a table with other waitresses talking. I want to note there was another couple seated near us who were seated after us (we had ordered by the time they sat) and they had the same waitress but got food way quicker and I feel the only reason the waitress checked up on us is cause when she checked on them, we flagged her down to ask for boxes to go and the check. My partner ended up having to go to the sushi area to ask for a bigger box since the waitress gave us two small ones and the other half of my baguette caprese didnt fit in it. The guys at the sushi area gave her a odd stare when she asked. The only saving grace to this place is that the food is good. I really liked my sandwich and the rice with avocado. Didn't like the salmon roll cause it was too fishy but thats a personal taste thing as my partner liked it. I would say if you come here order take out and ignore anyone staring at you like you dont belong. But I would definitely not eat in again.
