The restaurant was warm and inviting with comfortable booth seating options as well as tables to seat large groups. The staff was very friendly and gave us speedy service, which was great because we had to leave for our show. Between the two of us, we split a plate of Lo Mein, General Gao's chicken and Crab rangoons. They gave us large servings of each dish, we ended up with leftovers to go (which is always exciting). I have been to thousands of restaurants during my time. Beijing Chinese in Lexington, MA is one of the worst when it comes to customer service. Today Christmas Day my family wanted to do something different for dinner we decided to go to the restaurant mentioned above. Upon arrival no smiling, rudeness, I said Merry Christmas cold response back. I went to pay because it was a pickup with Apple Pay the reader did not work I used my American Express not work the response I got was I don't know some cards work and some don't. I had to pull out my hard card to use and it went through. I don't like to throw racism in my experience however this is not the first time having this experience with this particular restaurant. If there were half stars, I'd probably give a 3.5, but I'm rounding up to 4 because I would go back for sure. I started with a mai tai which was just ok. They don't have a lot of tiki cocktails on the menu but maybe they can make the basics. I'll try something else next time. For an appetizer we got crab Rangoon. It was minimally stuffed and not very good. It should be avoided. Dinner was much better. The half peking duck was good. The meat was excellent and the veggies were fresh, though the pancakes were more like a tortilla than a traditional peking pancake. The spicy sautéed cabbage was amazing. I highly recommend the cabbage, particularly with the duck. The service was efficient even though the dining room was pretty crowded. The atmosphere is nice, above average for a traditional Chinese restaurant. Bottom line: I'm looking for a Chinese restaurant near by to be my go to. One of the most impressive and delicious Chinese restaurants I encountered (in the US) was not in any metropolitan city Chinatown but here where the birthplace of our country all began: between the towns of Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts! Stopped by here coming back from a lovely excursion to Walden Pond on a misty October afternoon. We were a tad peckish having spent hours walking around the pond, exploring the autumn-colored woods, and viewing the exhibits at the Thoreau visitor center. As such, we found parking close by to this restaurant near Lexington and decided to see how the cuisine compared to our own Chinatown. We were amazed. Scottish novelist Mary Stewart once quipped: "Hunger is the best sauce"... she was right. At least it was hard to tell if being wet, cold, but reinvigorated by the unsurpassed beauty of Walden played a role in our assessment but we certainly ordered more than we could handle at one sitting! The food was amazing! The eggplant and wood ear fungus was superb. The spicy chicken shezchuan was hot both ways! (The way we like it but rarely encountered) The shrimp stuffed eggplant was innovative and scrumptious. Would definitely return to sample more of their menu on our next trip to Walden. This is a long overdue review for my favorite Chinese restaurant in greater Boston. Food 5/5 We have been here eight times and tried over 20 dishes. The food quality is always good. Our favorites include the Hong Kong style ginger scallion twin lobsters, sauteed conch with vegetables, ginger calamari, sliced beef and tendon with chili sauce, beef with bitter melon, chicken with snow peas and mushrooms, vegetarian delight, family style tofu, Ma Po tofu, dry fried beef chow fun, Singapore rice noodles, teapot stand with garlic sauce, and the morning glory with fermented bean curd. We lived in LA's San Gabriel Valley and frequently visit Hong Kong, and I would say that this Lexington restaurant will do very well in those competitive areas. It is certainly better than the competition in Boston and Quincy. Ambient and location 4/5 Nice, well appointed, clean place with outdoor and indoor dining options. It's also located in a nice little area work lots of small businesses, and nice to see people walking around. Parking is super easy on streets and parking lots. We ordered the Salt and Pepper Small Smelt which are deep-fried fish that are thin. You can still eat the bone by the way because it is quite thin. If you love Scallion Pancakes or anything savory, fried, and flavorful, then please order yourself these at this place! These are extra special here because they are made from scratch instead of most restaurants where they heat up store-bought frozen sheets of scallion... If you're lucky, you may be treated with an off the menu delicious dessert: a fried sticky rice, sweet sesame, and peanut pancake. I can't forget about the bar! You can basically get anything you like here. The fish bowls are very fun too. There is big parking lot in the back with meters that aren't too expensive. In front there is street parking all over the center. The restaurant maybe a bit harder to find so remember it is on the second floor and there is a sign in the front. Beijing House seems to be one of those restaurants with a very high Asian following and for good reason the food is well prepared and quite good. The Hot and Sour Soup is one of the better ones I've had with a nice balance of sour, hot spice and requisite Chinese vegetables. The Spring Rolls were well above average, not greasy, just a very nice crunchy exterior and the filling was perfect, delicious over all. The Mapo Tofu didn't quite have the bold Mala flavor I was hoping for but the Silky tofu and flavor from the ground pork, spices and sauce were enough to carry the dish over the finish line. This is located in an area where when you walk in you think oh we're at a decent sit down Chinese restaurant in a nice town, not a random take out place. However, about the same effort is put it there is just more seating. The dishes are chipped etc. See pics. How do you mess up Hot and Sour soup? The dumplings were so bland. Dinner Review: My friends and I came to Beijing Chinese Dining around 6:45pm on a weekday and were seated promptly. The dishes we ordered were quite good. we had Beijing Dumplings, Beijing Beef, Eggplant, Veggie Delight, Water cooked Fish and scallion pancakes. The dishes weren't too heavy and the food was cooked well and arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Service was a bit slow and the wait staff had to be reminded a couple times to have utensils and tea. Overall, the food was good, the service was questionable and the prices were reasonable. I would probably give this place 3.5 stars if I can. The food tastes good, but not impressive. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean, which is a plus. It is on the pricier side of Chinese restaurants too. Some dishes we tried were too salty or too sticky, but still tasted slightly better than some of the other nearby Chinese restaurants. The service was kind of slow. It took quite some time to get our food. Our server was very nice and helpful though. As much as I love authentic ethnic dining, my experience at Beijing Chinese Dining was a huge disappointment. The optics of the restaurant are very appealing - clean, plenty of seating, outdoor patio, indoor space warm and inviting. Even the menu is impressive with lots of options in every food category. And, that's were it ends. I'm a firm believer in getting value for the price; however, in the case of each dish we ordered that consideration did not hold. Even with a heavy dose of soy sauce, the eight (8) steamed shrimp filled dumplings were bland and tasteless. The dough was starchy and chewy. The stuffing was bland. The two entrees, chicken and walnuts and seafood egg foo young, were equally disappointing. The chicken and walnuts was overcooked and dry to the touch and taste. The seafood egg foo young was nothing more than an omelette prepared in oil [so much oil that it dominated the flavor]. I get no pleasure from these comments. I could wax on about the attitude of the servers, etc. Unfortunately, I don't think that would even matter.
