Food - so fresh, so flavorful, so delicious. Everything we ordered was amazing, simple ingredients and delicious Service - one person, the owner, on top of the tables Ambiance- small intimate seating - call for reservations, they only have seating for 14 people at a time

I was craving the real Italian food. If you like the small and cozy restaurant environment, this is the place. Everything is made when you order by the chef and it's so simple and yum. Enjoy!

Aside from an ergonomically challenged dinner plate, which resulted in my silverware taking a quick swim in the delicious chicken piccata lemon sauce, I throughly enjoyed my experience here. My fork went flying across the room (slight exaggeration) at one point after becoming quite slippery from the lemon sauce. The waiter kindly brought me a new fork, which I almost lost again soon after. There was something odd about the shape of my plate and I could not keep my silverware in control. Otherwise, four shiny stars for last night's visit. I feel very lucky to live within walking distance of this rather new, hidden gem. Due to rain, I drove the two minutes down the hill last night, but walking here is certainly a goal I've set for the near future. Yes, that's right, I absolutely plan to dine here again. I say 'hidden' because it is located on the outskirts of Arlington Heights, close to the Lexington line, in a small building on a corner lot. The owner chooses not to advertise in an attempt at crowd control due to the restaurant's small size. However, the word is out and this restaurant appears very busy most nights as I drive by on my way home. The dining area is small with about 4 tables that are comfortably spaced between neighbors, yet close enough to eavesdrop on conversations, whether you want to or not. There is a table for two tucked in a corner that seems a bit uncomfortable. Be sure to make a reservation, especially on weekends, as tables fill fast. As a last resort, there are a couple place settings at the small counter area. It's a family venture and the owner wears many hats as chef, manager, waiter, etc. I believe his son(s) help as well. He is friendly and takes the time to chat/get to know his customers. There were many specials available last night, which all sounded amazing, but we went for the standard chicken piccata and lobster ravioli. My friend gave two thumbs up on the ravioli and I enjoyed my dinner as well. The chicken was well-cooked and tender, covered in that delicious lemon sauce. I thought my portion of penne pasta was a little small, but I was a bit ravenous last night, so maybe I was just being ridiculous. The menu has a decent amount of classic Italian entrees, sides, appetizers, and salads. Prices are competitive with other similar restaurants in the area. I also like the selection of wines. Welcome to the neighborhood Trattoria Nina!

Great dinner by Angelo tonight. To simplify I ordered in advance--caprese salad, Caesar salad, lobster ravioli, veal piccata. All delicious! Angelo- keep cooking. We are coming back soon. We miss seeing you but love your delicious creations.

Yelp gives this place four stars…read more I give this place four stars. I give Northender's category five stars. Northender is just like 380 places all over the Boston Area. And I love them all. * * * Northender is an East Coast Sub Shop. Sub shops have pizza too. Pizza is good all over the country. Subs are NOT good all over the country. They are usually only good only in the Northeast. Sub shops in Texas are godawful. Sub shops in Michigan and Wisconsin are no great shakes. So when I go to Boston or Connecticut or Rhode Island or -Hallelujah - Philadelphia ... I go out of my way to get at least one real deal sub. One real deal sub and I am happy. If on two days, I can get two real deal subs, I am twice as happy. * * * Most East Coast sub shops are fine. There may be some place that has legendary three standard deviations above the mean subs. I have yet to find one. There is probably a tail end of terrible East Coast sub shops at the bottom end of the distribution. If I have eaten at one, I have repressed the memory. * * * The Northender is controversial. Some Yelpers hate it. Others love it. My local hosts love it. What I had is outstanding. So I am proudly in the pro-Northender camp. Because sub shops also do pizzas and Italian main dish entrees - there may or may not be issues with the other two thirds of the menu. But on subs - these folks are just fine and dandy. I had a meatball parmigiana sub. Those are always good. Even mediocre places in Texas with their cold cuts coming straight from Sysco can sometimes manage a decent meatball sub. * * * Northender lets you get hot grilled green peppers on your meatball sub. Texas has never heard of such a thing. Hot grilled green peppers on any kind of a parmigiana sub? Take plug. Insert into electric socket. All the lights come on. I was bright and shiny for the rest of the day. (And that rest of the day involved a long and miserable trip through Logan airport. I needed that sub as a bright spot on a day that was going to be dreariness up the snoot.) * * * Are the subs in Arlington better or worse than the subs in Lexington, or in Dedham, or in Marblehead or in Southie? I really couldn't tell you. But certain pleasures are like chocolate. They are good unless they are proven otherwise. * * * How are Northenders salads, or the lasagnas of the day or their house special pizza? I have no idea. But just keep those sub sandwiches coming. I am with ya, Northender.

I called to tell them about it, but the person who answered the phone did not understand what I was saying. My wife and I made a reservation for a Saturday night and upon arrival were seated immediately. To…read morestart, we ordered a perfectly cooked octopus antipasti, followed by tortellini alla norcina, and for a secondi the vitello alla petroniana (we were debating between this pasta/secondi combination and the pasta bolognese/swordfish special - will have to come back to get these next time!). I don't typically eat veal, and this cutlet was perfectly balanced - rich, savory, crispy, with a pleasant (but not overwhelming) salty kick from the prosciutto and parmigiano reggiano. We also ordered the spicy broccolini, which I highly recommend for the garlic lovers out there. For dessert we had the dark cherry (amarena?) gelato, which was delicious and creamy, with the perfect amount of sweetness. We shared each dish, and it was certainly plenty of food for the two of us. Prices felt reasonable for the amount and quality of what we ordered (all of the above + 2 drinks from the bar totaled approx. $160 pre-tip). The restaurant space itself is relatively small but has enough space to move around comfortably, which made it cozy without ever getting too loud (it was a pretty full house when we went), with a balanced dim lighting. Additionally, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the server patiently walked us through the menu and shared suggestions at our request. On a personal note I am especially appreciative of the staff, as I accidentally left without my hat, and the restaurant responded almost immediately to the message I sent through the restaurant website that same evening. Tl;dr - great menu, rich & hearty but balanced ingredients/recipes, and comfortable vibe. One really gets the impression that the husband/wife owners had a specific vision that they successfully brought into reality.

The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, so it's a great place for date night. The Fantastic: 1. Service -- our waiter was amazing, he took great care of us. We wanted for nothing! 2. Tortellini Alla Norcina -- this was delish. It was creamy, a little funky, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. 3. Cacio e Pepe -- also delish. 4. Mussels -- perfectly cooked, big and plump, and the bread to sop up the broth was also yummy. The plates are beautiful, but I think that plating and presentation takes priority over the food sometimes: 1. Bruschetta -- this was supposed to come with a balsamic drizzle, but it was served on a wooden plate and the drizzle was tiny and thin, so there wasn't really any balsamic. The dish could have used it to help cut through the cheese. 2. Bombolone -- dry, there was not a lot of custard in the pastry, and the surrounding sauces were more decorative than helpful. We did not enjoy the mixed drinks, they were all on the sour side and watery. So I would stick with wine or beer, the wine we had was excellent. Overall, we had a really nice time and would return.

As soon as I walked in the front door and that deliciously wonderful scent of Italian cooking hit my nose, I knew I'd picked the right place! It's great little place with a very nice menu selection (they have lunch and dinner menus). Check out their daily specials, too. My friend had one, which believe was oysters. She loved it!They have wonderful staff all around, chef, cooks and wait staff. The food was just outstanding as was the service. I had the meat sauce lasagna which I rate 8/10. For appetizers, we got the garlic bread and mozzarella sticks, which both very tasty and cooked perfectly. The prices were very reasonable as well. The wait for our food was quite reasonable. There is relatively ample on-street parking, and lots of parking lot spaces behind the building that services all the stores along Massachusetts Avenue. I definitely have to come back soon. Very soon!

The Burrata is a very good dish with cherry tomatoes, basil, garlic oil, aged balsamic, and grilled ciabatta. Even knowing burrata is an expensive ingredient, the price feels high for what you get. One of my go‑to entrées is the Rigatoni alla Bolognese, which is consistently satisfying whether ordered traditional or oven baked with fresh ricotta. One thing regulars will notice is that Sogno tends to rotate many fan favorites off the menu. Servers openly acknowledge that guests ask for certain dishes to return, but they also explain that the chef and owner decide what stays and what goes. It can be frustrating when a great dish disappears without warning. Another thing worth mentioning: Sogno often features live music. If that is not your thing, make sure to request a table as far away from the performance area as possible because the sound carries and can make conversation difficult. Lastly, although the owner also owns the building, he has a habit of parking his four‑door Mercedes wherever he wants rather than in an actual parking spot. It comes across as pretentious and unnecessary. If I were to park where he does, I am sure I would be towed. Sogno has a lot going for it: strong food, a fun atmosphere, and a polished dining room, however; a few quirks are worth knowing before you go.
