My wife and I were bummed when the Woolrich Outlet in North Conway NH closed. THEN we found out that the long-time manager of the store opened his own shop in the village to keep the product line in town! He has a super location in the village, which makes it fun to get out on the town. The product line is also much more than just Woolrich. Names like Acorn, Royal Robbin and ArborWear completely compliment the Woolrich line of what we call "comfort clothes". In fact, the owner, Matt introduced me to Arborwear's heavy over-shirts, which are now my favorites. I also noticed that they keep their prices as low as anywhere else including the catalog. Highly recommend a visit to The Rugged Mill on Main St. in North Conway NH!

I stopped in, December 2023, with a project in mind. You see, I have a great belt. Leather with a sturdy brass buckle and brass grommets all around; instead of a few holes. Unfortunately, it was starting to tear and wearing it became difficult and less frequent. I decided that Limmer may be able to help. The small staff gathered around, looked at it. Felt the material, quality. And threw out some ideas. At the time, I was hesitant and told them I'd think about it. Fast forward to June 2026. I went back to Limmer, and spoke with a guy named James. Laid back, positive and very into his craft. I remarked to him that if I worked at this cave of creativity, I'd be a very happy person. He took the belt, came up with some ideas and said he'd try his best. James called me about a month later reassuring me that he didn't forget about me, or my belt. I got a follow up call Mid-August with the sad news that the belt was too far gone to bring it back 100% He put a couple of stitches in the leather, that would hold for a while. James actually sounded disappointed, that he couldn't do more to fix my belt. He mailed it back to me, free of charge and didn't charge me for the work, and more importantly, his time. In today's world, you really don't find that kind of genuine care, compassion, and all around good karma. Next time I'm in NH, I'll have to stop by and say hello. Maybe even buy some boots. They brainstormed together on how they could fix it and we ended up deciding against it because it would be a lot of man-hours put into hand making a new one. Whew! This is a family business that started in 1919 in Bavaria and has been open in NH since 1950. They specialize in hiking boots and they're known to have a 2-3 year waitlist for custom boots! They also have boots in stock you can purchase, if I were a local I'd definitely get a pair. Since we're up here twice a year we may just decide to!
