Beer Lab HI recently moved to their new location where Applebee's use to be at Pearlridge Center. The concept is interesting. You check in with the bartender, order your drink with the bartender, then you sit down and scan the QR quote for their menu. You pay for your food from the app. A separate food company provides the food and cooks in their kitchen. The Sistah Food Truck provides the food on our visit. We ordered the Bibimbap and Korean Pork Sliders with French Fries. Food was tasty and the serving size was generous. We paid $11.99 for pork sliders and $12.99 for the bibimbap and the total cost around $30 including the tip. My husband picked the Makapu'u beer and he enjoyed it. It cost around $9. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. It initially would frustrate you when it comes to ordering but this is most likely our new norm so we'll all have to get use to it. read more

First time to this location. Enjoyed being able to purchase food, sit and drink. Lots of space, not too noisy. Most tables were eating. Sistah's menu is limited but delicious. A tough decision of what to order for dinner. Companion and I got the wagyu burgers. Nice surprise to find it on a soft tarp bun rather than a brioche (which is too hard and thick for me.) Meat patty could have been thicker. Lots of melty cheese and mushrooms and onions. Fries were crisp and not overdone. Would definitely recommend. read more

Hands down, my new favorite hang out! I'd give them 10 stars if I could... just sayin... :) Confession, I have never been to BeerLab prior to our pandemic situation, so I'm not sure what it was like before. But regardless, I absolutely love this place, right now. Another confession, I've been here now 3 times in the last two weeks! Yikes! No, I don't have an alcohol problem. LOL. When you first enter, either from the parking lot entrance or mall entrance, you're directed to check in at the bar. Everyone has to fill out a little paper with our names and contact information, for safety, and just in case. You can then seat yourself at any of the open tables or bar stools, they are all socially distanced. The drink menus are at each table, you can go to the bar to order your beverage, but then you can order your food from the kitchen using a QR code at your table, and take care of everything completely contactless. Of course, you must wear a mask when moving about to and from the bar, picking up your food, and going to the restroom. I love the fact that the beer menu and food offerings are constantly changing, so don't expect to go there and order the exact same thing everyday. You won't get to go in and order "The Usual". But, you can't write a review about the Beer Lab, and not talk about the beer! I have never disliked any beer that I have tried! To be honest, I'm more of a whiskey person, but I am always down to try craft beers, especially local one. Gotta support the local small businesses. I've tried the Mililani Mauka Red Ale, the Nila in Manila Porter, the Ice Shave, the Tako, and the From Powder Space. All so very different types of beers, but all so very awesome too! Keep up the amazing work everyone, from brewers to bartenders, and everyone in between. Wow! I loved Beer Lab HI! My husband and I were originally going to go mini golfing, but there was a huge storm so we ended up heading to Pearlridge Mall to escape the weather. So glad we stumbled upon this little hidden gem. They were closing earlier than usual, but they were still super nice and friendly and made sure that we got our beers quickly and even reminded us about last call. The employees here were so nice and sweet. Loved it! Whenever we are visiting family in Hawaii, we like to sample everything Hawaiian, especially the beers. Beer Lab carries all types of yummy Hawaiian beers. We are hooked! My husband loves IPAs and I like lighter beers like hefes or pilsners. They have a beer for everyone here! We started off with a sampler set that you get to choose, which is fairly cheap. Then we got our favorite beer of the bunch. You can even order some to go too! Definitely coming back here ASAP! Beerlab is located in the Uptown Center Court of Pearlridge Mall right next to the Starbucks (under the escalator). Whoever thought of putting a brewery in the mall is genius. It is not the full Beerlab Brewery but it is in the mall and has all the great selections on tap you would want. Service here is outstanding and all the employees are amazing in customer service, helpful and knowledgeable in everything beer. They don't have food but they do have snacks. They have no issues with you bringing your own food in and lots of food options in the surrounding area. The atmosphere is very chill and laid back. They have a few seats at the bar and a number of tables and chairs, it is open seating so find a seat and enjoy. They also show different sporting events on the TV's. They usually have 4-6 craft beers on tap, I have never tried a bad one or one I did not like. The IPAs are usually pretty good. They are always rotating the beers so makes it really interesting. If you don't like beer, they have a few white and red wine selections. Some of the beers, the profits go to a good cause like supporting the fight against cancer and cleaning up the oceans. Nice interior and vibes were good to catch up with people for Pau Hana.. Food was above and beyond for pub fare and I like the concept of experimenting with odd beer flavors. I might have been away from Hawai for a long time, so Im not sure what is normal here, but I appreciated the food on the menu like spam fried rice and the Filipino pork. Hubby and I stopped in for a beer and snack while shopping. It was pretty empty, so service was prompt and friendly. We had the Ikura Omakase, it was delicious! (We had this preciously at Foodland Farms, which brought us to the establishment). Food wise, we ordered loaded tots & spring rolls. I believe it's fulfilled from Sistah Food Truck. Had dinner with a good friend of mine lastnight. We thought we'd go to chili's but their phone communication is trash. Anyways, Beer Lab was open until 10p so we walked in around 8:20-ish. Entrance from the back door rather than from the inside of mall (since the mall closes at 7p). Definitely better than Applebees in the mall lol. So they got a great location!!! Last call was around 8:50-9p. Very convenient parking obviously and a good place to try some flights. Like myself, i usually don't order the beer in particular... i usually leave that up to the bartender but have them note that i would prefer "2 lights and 2 darks" & "just surprise me." So I'm at it again! Starting from #1 (on the menu) and left to right (in my photo) STARTS with "hakea": which happens to be one of my favorites this evening. It's light and bubbly yet still a very good buzz; almost reminds me of sparkling pineapples and lemons. #3: white flag: i liked this one too. It was a little more deeper in taste than #1, almost similar yet different. #4: mililani red: happens to be my friends' favorite of the night. It was dark, almost tasted like a hint of coffee with a bitter aftertaste. #5: guava lava: I'd say this one was cute, bubbly, very feminine and light. Definitely could taste the guava and strawberry cider. It was good but I'd rather drink something that could "hit" a lot harder haha (like #3 or #4). The next flight starting from #2 (on the menu) & left to right (in my other flight photo) STARTS with tarantallegra: it was a good IPA, i liked this one too! I think it was a little more lighter than #1, almost IPA-tasteless and bubbly. #6 Lei'd back lilikoi: my most least favorite drink to be honest. Not sure why my friend liked it but rather in my perspective, the first sip reminded me of a beer cleanse of like... apple cider vinegar you might want to try it but hey, it was an acquired taste. #8: papa'i loa: a bit more darker but i enjoy this drink. You got the beer taste in there but not as a bitter aftertaste like #4. And finally, #10 merci, au revoir: oui oui. I like this Belgian strong ale taste. It's definitely there and one of my favorites with a good balance between light and dark but it just meets in the middle. Just gotta try it for yourself. Their menu doesn't have much in selection of food but it's very diverse. For drinks, you have to physically order at the bar. For food, using their scan code, You have to order online and pay online and they will make your food, put it in a to-go box and pick it up at the counter near the bathroom when it's done (in which you'll receive either a text message or an email saying that your food is ready at the counter top). My spicy pork plate tasted great! Although i wish they added more spicy into their "mild" category. I'm a spicy girl haha. I like spicy but i couldn't get much of it. So for future reference when ordering this plate, I'd definitely recommend "spicy" level. My friend got a hamburger steak. It was beautifully presented and once he opened his box plate, he definitely got a huge whiff of that beautiful aroma of meat. Their sides were good; the corn and salad; a nice and light palette cleanser to go with our meat. The spicy pork was good but i wish it was coated more with sauce. Taste overall was great! Great selection of beers! Stuck to a lot of the IPAs and none disappointed. I'm not a big fan of the Kombucha but my wife enjoyed it. Too tart for me. Also, the Kalbi Fries were great! I've seen some other pictures that were much fuller portioned than ours were. This was the only reason I'm rating 4-stars instead of 5. Went here on a Friday night around 7 and was able to get a table right away which is always a plus. They offer flights of beers so you can try different ones or you can buy bigger sizes if you know exactly what you like. You can order food on your phone and there's a lot of different choices. They text you when it's ready and you pick it up at a window. For the beer you can start a tab at the register, order and they will bring it to your table. They open till midnight so it's a nice place to hang with friends or family that's not too hectic. Overall the food and beer was really good with decent prices. Would definitely go again. read more

Social distancing completely enforced with sanitizers on every table and QR code to scan to access menu AND place your order. But the real winna was the food and the staff. We happened to sit right next to the kitchen so we sort of had some help from what felt like our own personal chef, who guided us as we shared what dishes we were considering ordering. So glad we got his input cause we would've ordered too much food. Their portions are big. I ordered the fish tacos and my friend ordered the grilled ahi with misoyaki sauce. Both dishes come with fries but we upgraded to Kalbi fries. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. My friend doesn't even like fries but chomped all of hers up. Beer lab has opened a storefront in Pearlridge, Macy's side... sorry, I can never remember if that's uptown or downtown! Haha. But they took the Applebee's spot. I'm not a beer drinker but I saw they were serving the Sistah Truck food! It's been a while since I've had their plate lunch but I do remember the food was good!! And when I saw what people were posting, I was drooling with envy! I was so happy when my friend requested having lunch at pearlridge earlier this week. So I immediately suggested going here for lunch. There's a sign at the entrance that says to checkin at the bar. There, they make you fill out a simple form for contact tracing needs if needed. He then informed us how the ordering works. All beverages are through the bar but food is separate. You scan the QR code at a table and order through your mobile device and pay online as well. Completely separate entities. Simple though. Just FYI, there are no straws there and no ice. But the bartender was nice enough to give us cups for our canned sodas we purchased. We sat down at a table and scanned the QR code there and looked at our options. We both decided to get the wagyu burger with fries. I love a good burger so I was looking forward to this. All condiments need to be purchased and i need ketchup for my fries!!! So we got a couple of spicy ketchup also. The wait was pretty quick, maybe about 15mins? We both received texts saying our order is ready. The food pickup window is not the bar, it's along the wall near their menu. We were given a napkin roll which contained a fork inside. Perfect, now all I need is a knife! But no luck, no knives here... so I asked for a chopstick. Hehe. I can't eat with my hands unless I can wash them. This is just a habit I've always had and now with this pandemic.... yeah... haha. Hence why my photo of my burger looks horrific. I had to cut it with a chopstick! The bun was really good!! So soft and nicely buttered and grilled. I love it when there's a little crunch, like a grilled cheese sammy. It was a nice sized burger perfectly cooked to a medium. I know you can't see because of my chopstick cutting skills. Haha. The sistah sauce (similar to a Russian sauce) was the perfect amount. And of course the burger was smothered with carmelized onions and mushroom and a slice of cheese. Wow, this was a good burger!!!! The French fries were good. I'm not a huge fan of "potatoey" fried, I like the thin, crispy kind. But these were cooked well. Lightly salted and went well with the spicy ketchup. All in all the burger is winners! Definitely want to try some of their plates as well. Only reason for the one less star is due to no knives hahah and wish they had more dipping sauces, like aioli's for our fries! read more

Overall great experience. Good beer, good eats and good company. They were thorough and pretty good w the covid policy and social distancing which made us feel reassured; most of the service was contactless which was appreciated. We got 6 beer tasters with a bunch of different stuff, including the Jo Koi collab, the featured on tap and even their non-alcoholic kombucha; really great range of beer and flavors from east coast IPA to flavorful sours. If you're a people watcher and enjoy the refreshing taste of a cold, craft beer from a local brewery, I would definitely recommend trying out Beer Lab in the Aeia mall. It's located conveniently in the middle of the hall, in an open area next to the elevator and across from the Starbucks. I've walked by it many times and have continually seen the place fully occupied. It's small, but it's worth trying out for a few of their beers. You can get the complete flight of their 7 beers on tap which consist of saisons, lagers, porters, IPAs and a regular pale ale. The list changes and so do the names of the beers. They have growlers to go and offer some snacks. They allow you to bring outside food, which is awesome. You could walk to the food court, get some hot ramen and sample the beers. Although bars are supposed to open 6/19, they are a "brew pub" and exempt even though they don't serve food. Less seating than normal and each table had hand sanitizer from Ko Hana Distillery. Once you are seated you can remove your mask. There were just a handful of beers but we were stoked. It felt weird to be at a bar after several months of lockdown. But a good weird. So the last time that I reviewed this establishment it was in a smaller location and since then has seriously upgraded. They have their own place in the Mall now and I must say that I'm pretty impressed. I ordered the "Don't Make Waves" and the "Gindara". Both were pretty refreshing and awesomely balanced. This new place is very chill and the music selection was pretty good as well. My friend ordered the Killah Dragon which is a pretty great tasting Cider. I'm excited about this location and still plan on being a returning customer. The bartender that served us was Kai and I thank him very much for his known and ability to steer me in the right direction as far as beer selection. He was very nice and easy to speak to. Went here today around 3pm to check this beer place out. It's been years since the last time we went to this side of pearl ridge and I gotta tell you, a lot has changed. A lot of new places and they did a nice renovation of the mall. I had to try this restaurant out because I don't know when I'll be back there again (busy life). I went there at 3pm and at that time there was maybe one couple and my family at the time. When 4pm came, the place got packed. Once you get there, you have to check in at the bar and you can order beer to go or ask for a table and open a tab. There's a QR code to scan if you want to eat and it's all online. There's pretty much no contact between you and the cashier or server. I ordered my food on the site the QR took me to and drank some beers. I was notified when my food was ready and I picked it up at the designated food pick out place. Forks and napkins were on the counter. Like I said, no contact with any cashier or cook. It was fast but kinda weird. Make sure you pick up the right food because they don't tell you. Each table had a hand sanitizer, a menu for the beer selection, and the QR code for the food. I may be a little biased here (as I know a couple of the owners), but I would say this is one of Hawaii's premier spots to fill your belly with some great brews. They always have a great selection, and they have a constantly evolving set list. They for sure have something for for every palette. My more recent favorites are the PAPAILOA, the KALAELOA, and the WILD WILD WEST. They have excellent branding as well, so don't forget to grab a mug, some shirts, or even a growler to take some of that beer home with you. The staff is always great. They are not snoody or snobbish in any way, so don't be afraid to ask questions. I didn't know very much about craft beer until I came here for the first time. The bar backs were great at suggesting new flavors to try. Beer Lab does not have a "traditional" kitches, per se, but something interesting they have been doing is featuring local food trucks to come in and work their magic in their own kitchen space. When Im hungry here (on friday afternoons usually) I always order the tater tot nachos, and the wagyu burger. SO DELICIOUS. It can get a bit busy around the 5 or 6pm hour, so get here earlier rather than later as there is still limited seating due to COVID restrictions. read more

The beer is always great! Except it seems whenever I find one I really like, it turns out to be a limited edition soon gone, never to return :-(. My favorite this time was the Thai one with a hint of chilis. Sadly... gone already. Moral of the story. Don't get too attached! The Pearl City Beer Lab has a large space, and good social distancing (Yay), but their system for ordering food really needs some work. You have to go on-line (not an app, but a web page). The web site is NOT well optimized for mobile devices. It's hard to find what you want, difficult to order, and challenging to pay. Seriously. I think even Millennials would find this system challenging, which means there's almost no hope for us Boomers. They tell you they are going to text you when the food is ready, but then they don't ask for your phone number. Result... no text. You just have to go and hang out by the food dispensing counter at the suggested time. Then when you get the food, it's all in take out containers... even though you're dining in. We received identical orders of Okinawan Soba with two totally different sized containers. ST's would only hold half of the soup at a time. Styrofoam fail! read more

Came here for a drink last night after having dinner. I remember when it was just a small corner bar within Pearlridge Mall, now they got their own place with better seating and they also serve food. Their beer menu is pretty unique, I tried the Hakea and Nene. The Hakea was a nice light beer, goes down easy as well as the Nene. I didn't get to try all the beer as I was full from dinner however, they have a small variety of beer selection. They also sell some shirts, totes, and other items available in the front of the bar. OKAAYYYY I didn't know what to expect here, but boy was I impressed! First off, the workers (for Beer Lab AND Sistah Truck) are so darn friendly and welcoming I am always grateful for that. They set a great vibe to this place. Speaking of the place, I'd say it's really spacious. They definitely keep you apart from others, so it feels quite safe. I'm sure they could have squeezed in more tables, but they didn't and that's awesome. I like that it's very casual in that you order your food or drinks and they bring it to you, and if you need anything else you just go up and ask. I don't need any tableside service so that's nice. Their selection is also very interesting and fun. So I'm sure there's something for everyone! I did try the kombucha and I just.. Couldn't finish. I forgot how strong it was! I honestly love this place! The mood, the vibes, the atmosphere! The workers are great. It's such a great place to just kick back and chill. Aside from getting super drunk, my friend said they switch up their beers often!! I drank the hakea which wasn't really that bad but I'm not a beer person. Therefore, I kept the red wine coming. Just like a regular bar you can keep you tab open. For the food orders, you place it on your phone then they'll text you when ready for pick up. It's located at another window, so don't get drunk yet! I just love the way this place is set up! It's like you're outside but you're actually sitting inside, because they have park benches set up too!! My group of friends sat there from around 11:30-4:30 pm and y'all... when I cannot express how sore my culo was the next few days from sitting on that hard metal chair. I didn't even realize how long I was there for. As for parking, I'd say it's a little confusing cause I parked upstairs so it took me a journey and a half to get there. You should park near the CPK area. But not the structures, the lot right in front where they also have the entrances to Chili's. This place is much busier than a few months ago! Safety measures being followed. We got the last open table when we checked in. Food was ready in 15 minutes. (It's usually ready in 10 when it's not busy, but this was a Friday evening.) Ordered the Teriyaki BBQ Pork plate with white rice. It was very good! Teri pork may be an ordinary dish but it was very tasty, tender, and didn't taste too fatty. Was supposed to come with Mac salad but came with tossed. But since I had wanted tossed but didn't know how to order a substitute, it was a nice bonus! Also came with some kind of corn with onion (?) side. Not a fan of the corn. Hubby ordered the Korean Spicy Pork Sliders. It was a bit salty but nice and spicy and very good. Plenty of meat. Appeared to be the Teri BBQ Pork with spicy chili oil added. The fast crinkle cut fries were awesome! Super crispy! A tad too much salt when combined with the very tasty slider, but extremely yummy on their own. I think I ate more of them than hubby, and ended up taking home half of my plate! Had the white rabbit kombucha. Didn't taste like white rabbit candy at all. (I usually enjoy their kombucha when they are fruit flavor based.) Hubby had a pint of ? beer. (Sorry for not remembering.). He enjoyed it. read more

My first time going to the Pearlridge location located at the old Applebee's. When we arrived, it was pretty busy. We put our names on the list for a table and I think we waited for maybe about 5 minutes. We got seated and one of the workers explained to us how to order food and beer. Beer Lab has a pretty cool collaboration with several food trucks. Sistah Truck, La Birria, and Flyin Ahi. On the day we went, Flyin Ahi was cooking up some yummy food. To order food, scanned the QR code and ordered and paid on phone. We ordered a whole bunch of food like Kalbi fries, fish tacos, blackened ahi salad, Korean chicken and poke. Enough about the food, we came here to have some beer. Our first drink, we all tried Honi Honi. It was guest tap from Paradise Cider. It was a Dragonfruit and Strawberry Cider. Very easy to drink and was one of my favorites. I also enjoyed Chirashi which is an omakase series NE IPA brewed with galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, Mandarina Bavaria, Hallertau Blanc, and mosaic hops. My least favorite was Mililani Red which is a Red Ale w/ Cascade hops. I would definitely go back again. read more

Went here with a few buddies, the beer list is small. They have a separate system to order food, food was Mexican mostly Birria tacos and birria fries. The food came out, didn't get a call text and no one brought it to our table so it just stayed on some platform close to the kitchen. My buddy went to check on our food and saw it just sitting there. They need a better system for that. Birria fries were pretty good. The beer was good. We left after that. read more

At the mall and wanna grab a beer here is the place you need to go. grab a few awesome crafts and leave the mall feeling happy as a clam. I don't even know what that means. There's always two or three new brews on tap so there is never a chance of you being bored of the same old thing happening at most other places. Grab your lunch and bring it there for a beer with your lunch or purchase one of their beef jerky chip bags since they're so awesome for your face. Just don't be that guy that orders the highest percentage beer and walks around stumbling in the mall like somethings wrong with you. Then we will all lose the fun places that we like to go and grab a few. They even have your favorite sports playing on the TVs most of the time so don't delay and go check them out. As you can see I really like this place so don't ruin it by being "that guy". read more

I love this place. This place was our backup in case the restaurant we were trying to go to was full. Turned out the restaurant was in the other half of the mall so we came here (we've been here before). I forgot how good the food was. We had a burger with a with great fries and added a side of spicy poke and short ribs. I'll be honest I was suspicious of getting poke here but it was great. Honestly, everything about this place is great except the beer is a bit expensive. read more
