This one of my favorite places to go in Abilene. Oh where to start... The long island is AMAZING but the alcohol can sneak up on you. The bread is a sourdough that is crunchy and chewy, the butter is in the design of a rose and is heavenly. I usually go on prime rib night, it is juicy and very flavorful. I have also gone for lunch, the blackened chicken was so juicy with a balance on spice. The waitstaff is attentive without being intrusive. Great night and wonderful experience. read more

Had never been to Abilene before but saw good reviews on this restaurant so we decided to try it out. It was pretty packed but the staff was friendly and we had a large party so that was understandable. Took about 20mins to seat a party of 10 which wasn't bad. Our waitress was so friendly and very attentive. She recommended the fried green beans and they were amazing. I had the small filet mignon with asparagus which was also very good. A friend ordered the rack of lamb, high recommend. Everything was delicious and well priced for a steakhouse! read more

We went to dinner there tonight for my birthday, first of all this is not a place for a 6 and 2 yr old. The service was okay, this is the second time we had to ask for bread. Everyone around us was getting bread, but our server said it would be out soon, the were warming more, they ran out. Our meal took forever to come, I ordered the special and I was not impressed, last time the special was great! My wife had chicken fried steak, and our boys split a chopped steak. Our server told us there was a $4.00 charge to split the plate, but we didn't get the charge. At first, other servers were taking care of us, but our server came out to check on us. This is really a solid 4 star, even borderline 5 from my experience. I was there on a Friday night. I had the filet and passed on their included potato so I had to pay extra for my veggie of choice (sautéed mushrooms and grilled zucchini). The service was ok. Fairly quick response for a Friday, forgot our appetizer but didn't charge so I wasn't overly concerned. The thing that really got the stars was the filet. Fantastic! Really solid place inside the city to eat. This was the first "real" restaurant we ate at when moving to Abilene. It is a bit pricey but worth it for the quality of food they serve. it comes in second only to Perini Ranch. If you're looking for an upscale classy place to take a date, this one is sure to impress as long as they aren't picky eaters. Enjoy their delicious cheesecake. read more

We went to The Beehive after the CALF festival . I ordered the prime rib and asked for it medium. It was so blue that it was difficult to eat, lots of gristle and fat, it was a terrible cut of meat. I've eaten prime rib in NY, Vegas, NC and GA, and always loved it. Plus I'm a trained chef and know what I was brought was not true prime rib. I sent it back 3x and it was not edible. The popover that came with the prime rib was hard as a rock, obviously made on Friday or even Thursday. The people next to us, said the f word every other word. I'm not exactly faint of heart. I'm a chef but control my language around my 4 yr old daughter. I really wanted to get up and leave. I ordered chicken tenders for my daughter, they were so brown, and not very appetizing as I know the extremely dark color shows their oil in their fryer was old and should have been changed. Our server, was not very pleasant, kind of rude with scary looking spiders on her eyes for eyelashes. I kept expecting one of them to fall in our food. Overall a terrible dining experience that I will not repeat. Next time, we will eat elsewhere. read more

Food has been great each time I've been. I recommend the smoked salmon appetizer and the Denigan burger (jalapeños and grilled onions). I do wish they had a higher end selection of scotches to choose from, maybe a Balviene or Glen Rothes. read more

Great restaurant, price is reasonable for a quite getaway for special occasions. Service was great and the salad was great as well as the Ribeye. So much better than the chain steakhouses. In looking at the reviews of local restaurants we decided on the Beehive Restaurant for a steak. Based on our server describing the prime rib the hubby and I both ordered the prime rib. I am not a fan of prime rib as a rule and boy am I glad I ordered it. The prime rib was absolutely mouth-watering, tender and very flavourful. The creamy horseradish with au jus made it exceptional. The Beehive dinner salad with a side of the vegetable medley made the meal memorable. The hubby had the beef and green chile soup with his meal which was very yummy. We finished off our meal with cheesecake and raspberry sauce. Overall a great place to dine, with wonderful cheerful staff and nice ambience. My family went to the Beehive last night for dinner. I got the salmon, a sweet potato and ceaser salad. My mom got the prime rib, and my dad/sister got the sea bass. Theirs were absolutely amazing! So full of flavor. While mine was good, it wasn't as good as theirs. I liked the crisp on the outside, but it wasn't juicy like I like my salmon. (If that makes any sense). The sweet potato was to die for though! It was sweet, and prepared perfectly. Aside from the salmon being what seemed to be a little over cooked, there was a chunk of charred wood in my food. When I asked for the best steakhouse in Abilene, everybody pointed at this place. It's in an older part of town in an old building. I liked the layout. The waitress was very pleasant and was able to rattle off the specials without missing a beat (way to go, Ashley!) The complimentary bread was a nice way to start. I had a 12 oz New York strip that was seasoned in Rosemary. It included twice baked potatoes and asparagus. It was a pleasant meal with good service.--The Montana boy in me was really missing my favorite steakhouse (Sir Scott's in Manhattan, MT) and their huge portions, but the Beehive was all right. I found myself asking about dessert, but it didn't sound good enough to entice me. Overall: tasted good, but if I walk out hungry, your portion size should have been bigger. read more

This is my husband and I's go-to date night/special occasion/splurge place! We love it! My husband brought me here the first time I visited him in Abilene while we were dating and I was hooked once I tried their Long Islands! The BEST I've ever had - and I like my Long Islands. They do limit how many each individual you can order, but no worries, the mason jar that they come in is 32 oz! Their fried shrimp and steaks are wonderful, but I'm a personal fan of their Beehive Salad (love that they include bits of egg and blue cheese, and that dressing - yum!). Sometimes there can be a wait, but it's worth. And if I remember correctly, I don't believe they take reservations. It's worth it though. Try it. Promise you'll like it. read more

Awesome! Best bang for the buck is the chicken fried steak at $8.99 enough for two and tastes like mamma's. Love, love, love the smoked salmon appetizer. Owners stop by to say hello and are incredibly gracious and nice and fun! ( mr Perini take notes). Rib eyes are incredible and not fatty. Love the basic salad with ranch dressing and they serve REAL butter with bread and baked potatoes. Service great and timely. I only wish I would make it for lamb night or they would add lamb to regular menu. read more
