Wonderful sandwich. Ordered the beef on weck with both types of potato salad. The sandwich was pulled high full of super flavorful beef on an amazing kummel weck bun. Delicious! The two types of potato salad were interesting. The German style was good but a little to vinegary for me. And the regular potato salad was good but nothing to get excited about. Now the French Onion soup was amazing. The waiters are very nice and knowledgeable about the food. The restaurant is very classy for a place known for sandwiches. We loved our visit and will definitely stop in again if we are passing through.

Decided while taking a ride south of Olean to view the changing fall colors. We chose to pick up beef on weck sandwiches at the iconic Beef and Barrel. Pros-our sandwiches were generous Con-The roll doesn't stand up to the moist beef. Our medium rare was medium well and honestly, the meat was on the tough side. As these were packaged to go, we were disappointed that a few napkins and plastic utensils were not included. For clarity, it wasn't my first time and Beef and Barrel. Previously never experienced the above issues.

Would I say this is the absolute best roast beef we have ever eaten; no. That belongs to a small roast beef place in New Hampshire of all places. But this is a close second! The beef on a weck is very good! We got it medium rare and it was a good medium, but still absolutely delicious. You didn't need au jus or horseradish with it because it was simply delicious. I was a big fan of the American potato salad as the german had bacon and it through the taste off for me. The sandwich plus 2 sides and a soup was plenty for my husband and I to share. If you were starving, it may not be, but I don't eat a lot so it worked well for us. The French onion soup was however some of the best my husband had had. I wasn't feeling soup, but the cheese was delicious. This was well worth stopping for because it's far closer than New Hampshire. But that said, if you are ever driving by and need a good roast beef sandwich, this really is the place.

I have been going to the Beef'n Barrel for as long as I can remember. The food is always great and the service is even better. Real classy place. I usually get 10 wings, roast beef au jus & a salad. Love their homemade italian dressing and the fresh rolls that come with the salad. The wings are breaded so I tend to get the sauce on the side so they don't get too soggy. Perfect place to take family when in town

I ordered a to-go meal from Beef'n Barrel and tried one of their dinner specials. I ordered the seafood macaroni and cheese that had shrimp, scallops and lobster. My mom had the liver and onions, and she really enjoyed it. We both were impressed with what we ordered and the portions were generous.

I've been going to the Beef'n Barrel longer than I want to admit. I am guilty of getting the roast beef every time! Either the roast beef sandwich smothered in beef gravy with a side of German potato salad or the beef on weck. Why mess with success? read more

As a regular diner I thoroughly enjoy BnB's food entrees. The daily Five Specials give one a wide variety of chicken and fish choices separate from the gamut of beef entrees. Recently I enjoyed Saturday's 16" rack of dry rubbed ribs with sauce. Took home plenty for wife and me. Standard Potato plus the Cole slaw is crunchy with a mild mayo sauce. Plus, Tom served up an 8" chef salad to whet my appetite. Always nice to chat with two bartenders, men and women. I am amazed they can concoct, serve drinks, and take orders while kibitzing with folks on the other side of the bar. Like us, they have tough days occasionally, but they swallow it at the door. read more

Upon entering we were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress suggested the house speciality which is beef on wick. This place is authentic. We started with a cup of their chili. The chili is pretty standard, not too spicy yet tasty. The beef on wick is cut and cooked to order. It is very good and came as requested. The German potato salad is authentic and served warm. Their burgers are tasty and hand pressed. This restaurant is clean and well run. read more

We had 5 of us for dinner and we all loved our food! The roast beef sandwich with mushrooms and cheese was great! The servings are huge and come with sides too! My mother grew up near here, and so introduced me to Beef 'n' Barrell about 20 years ago. I had a tiny filet de mignon, but what became my converted follower to B'n'B was their Raspberry Pie. It was soooo good. I've tried to land in WNY ever since I'm in San Francisco), but no luck. This is my favorite restaurant in WNY. I'll always go back. And always hope for Raspberry Pie. I've traveled this entire world eight times! Never have I been served such a horrible steak! I asked for a medium Rare 8oz. sirloin and I got a totally raw piece of the toughest steak I've ever had! Took it home and my dog wouldn't even eat it! No ratings period! Negative 1 read more

The food is great. Rolls are made from scratch. Homemade salad dressing. Homemade soup. Absolutely the best drinks in the area. Excellent beef " no matter what you get". A hometown treasure. My entire family loved it here. We ALWAYS request our most favorite server Isy. She gives us the best service!!! All the servers are great but Isy is just our most FAVORITE. She always goes above and beyond for our family. The food is always hot and fresh. Every day there are delicious specials. Great place I found on Yelp in Olean NY. The place is spotless and you can tell it's a long time staple in town. Michelle at the bar was so nice and everything came out quickly and hot!! Was looking forward to eating here from a friends suggestion. The steaks were very tender and had a good flavor but I ordered a medium and it came out medium-well, my son ordered a medium-rare and it came out medium. Our potatoes were old and tasted and looked like they had been baked early in the day or possibly the day before. The Baked French onion soup was mediocre and a bit salty. The rolls were just plain ol' dinner rolls. The atmosphere was good and inviting with lots of tables and booths. There was no wait and we sat down immediately on a Monday evening. Overall, the steak was probably the selling point to this restaurant. read more

A great surprise and delicious lunch were had here, en route to Ohio. The roast beef was excellent! I had it on a Kimmel wick role, which added a nice touch. The horseradish is top notch! All I can say is ,I don't care where you are coming from, the roast beef you will have at Beef and Barrel is definitely worth the drive! Not to mention the service is as good as it gets also! I usually get the Beef on Kimmelwick, with an order of their crinkle cut fries, and a side of their delicious beef gravy, made from the juices of the beef( no can gravy here). I highly recommend , if you haven't already experienced their menu, to give it a try the next time you are itching for a great beef on weck sandwich. The ride down to Olean itself is worth the trip! read more

An Olean classic. You can't go wrong here. My favorite thing to do is get appetizers and desserts but their beef bar is delicious. It's nice that when you ask for rare, you get rare, if you want medium well, you get medium well. Definitely a hometown staple. read more

A lovely little place with a small town rustic feel.... The beef bar? Perfecto!! I was leaning towards the chicken but decided on a freshly sliced beef French dip! Excellent choice! I absolutely love their beef and cheddar melt, but I prefer on their weck roll versus their sub roll!!! I've had it both ways, the salty weck is the best way to have it, in my opinion. It's so big, I can get four meals out of it. read more

You walk into this place and you just feel like there's so much class. In addition the waitresses are quick and absolutely professional. They know what's on the menu they don't have to look at the menu with you. They get you your drinks quickly and efficiently. Every time I travel the Southern Tier I make sure to stop at the Beef'n Barrel for their Beef on Weck, ordered rare and double dipped of course, along with a side of German Potato Salad. The great thing about Beef'n Barrel is that it is large along with a large following, so their is more than one Big Beef located at the carving station. Hence you can usually get it rare, medium or well done, unlike other Beef and Weck specialty restaurants where you have to take what they have. It also has just about the most polite service you can find. Every time I go there for lunch, usually by myself, they hand me the day's Buffalo News to read and always make me feel appreciated as well as right at home. Their Beef on Weck is just about as good as it gets and certainly compares well with anything in the Beef and Weck city of origin, Buffalo. Indeed, their are only four places in the entire Olean to Buffalo area that AI know of that have really great Beef and Weck, freshly carved, an honest Kimmelweck roll and fresh, clean, bright pearl colored horseradish, and Beef and Barrel is one of them. read more

This place is a must if you visit Olean! They have a fresh "beef bar" with phenomenal roast beef and prime rib going. I've been here a few times and truly LOVE the Beefeater's Julienne Salad. I've had it both rare and medium...I recommend medium for the salad. Rare is pretty awesome for a sandwich with their au jus. The raspberry vinaigrette is a great dressing to get on the side with the salad too. The bartenders here are awesome! I typically have dinner at the bar because of how good they are. All in all, great spot! read more

Way back in the 80's I first started going there; when my brother attended St.Bonaventure. Then when I attended I went but not as often when I attended Bonas. And I have been back a few times when I visit a college buddy from X-C. The staff is always nice and polite. Food and beer is great, especially the steak. Out of towner's will always give bad reviews. This place has been a part of Olean for as long as I can remember; I am 41. I pray this business keeps going for many more decades. I have never had a bad experience here. read more

This place is awesome! First impression was I stepped into a 1940's steakhouse.The restaurant has beautiful wood molding,doors,booths from long ago. I had the prime rib which was cooked perfectly to medium.Then I saw it! The most mouthwatering beef on weck I have ever seen.The beef is hand cut right off the roast This place is a must for any well respected beef lover.The prices were very reasonable.BTW , if you go you must get the fried cheese curds for an app. read more

Lunch at Beef 'N' Barrel was very good. We walked in at noon and they seated us right away. Asking us if we wanted a booth or table. The restaurant and bathroom was very clean. The specialty is Beef on Weck . It was delicious. Done just like my husband likes it. It came with warm german potato salad . Homemade and very good. The Beef was tender and tasty. Our server's name was Tina she was friendly and professional a very good server. I intend to return soon with friends and family. It's a 2 hour drive from Rochester. Which is a nice summer drive. The restaurant was recommended to us after shopping at the Cutco store. The locals always know the best places to go to. read more

Hot, cheesy, classic--and for the price? Can't beat it. But that "chef salad"? Oh. My. God. What I received looked like something you'd win as a consolation prize at a school raffle. I paid $8 for a plastic container of lettuce, one slice of tomato, a green pepper ring, and like... three croutons trying to hold it all together. No meat. No cheese. No egg. Not even a shred of effort. I've seen more toppings on a flight snack. This wasn't a salad made by a chef--it was a salad that called in sick. It looked like it was assembled by someone who whispered, "Good enough," and walked away. AJ's--your food is good. Your pizza? A hit. Your prices? More than fair. But that salad? That salad needs to be exorcised from the menu. For $8, I expected at least a garnish of dignity. That container of sadness was delivered to my hotel and somehow still found a way to disrespect me. Had 10 of the Buffalo style wings (5 mild and 5 sweet chili) which were fried with a slight crisp, both good. Had a couple of side salads which were very nice, not to much and not to little. Recommend this restaurant!

She was aware that I have a three-month-old child and require childcare arrangements. However, she expected me to leave my child unattended to report to work, despite the absence of a fixed schedule. I declined, leading her to ask me to leave. She later visited my residence, requesting that I return to work. Furthermore, she contacted my babysitter to request Robert's phone number. I reported the incident to law enforcement, and she has since refused to compensate me for my services. Apparently, Rafi's Food Hub expects employees to be available at short notice without compensation. I am sharing this experience to warn others about this business. Called the restaurant at 5:40 PM yesterday 11/29/2013. Requested to speak with the manager. Was told that the manager was seating customers. Was told that if I left a message, the manager would call me right back. The manager never called back. In my opinion, this is a HORRIBLE customer service and a TERRIBLE way to treat a customer. Shame on you Beef'n Barrel. Your customers deserve more! PS: My call was not even to file a complaint, but rather to leave a suggestion. However, since you IGNORED me, I will NEVER be back!
