Pittsburgh salad - subbed chicken
Bryan M.

Went there on a busy Friday night. I had not been to this restaurant in almost 30 years. Unfortunately there was a long wait for a table so we decided to stay in the bar and grab a drink. As Luck would have it that we ended up sitting at the bar and meeting great folks on either side of us. I had the Pittsburgh salad pictured and my wife had a simple house salad with chicken. Both were huge. The food was great. The camaraderie was great and the music, alive singer was, great as well not too loud, but definitely able to hear the music. The next time we're here we will definitely sit in the bar again and look forward to great conversations with locals on either side of us. Pete, the bartender, was very attendive to us and, our food arrived extremely fast. Definitely recommend this place as a more upscale restaurant in the Cuba/Olean/Houghton area

The Scarlet Vetter says......we came here for dinner on a busy Friday night. The restaurant is under new management, and unfortunately, they are temporarily without a liquor license. That did not deter us. The staff were friendly and attentive. The menu looked similar to the prior menu, but it had been some time since I had been here. The facility is quite nice and well appointed. We noticed quite a few tables with no food yet, so I was a bit worried that they were in over their heads, as a large party was seated in one room. However, our order was quickly taken, and we were given our beverages. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi, my husband ordered the New York Strip, and our friend ordered his usual Friday restaurant meal, Fish Fry. My and my husband's meals were great. Our friend reported that he thought the fish was rubbery and dry and he was disappointed. A bright note is that they permitted a switch of the coleslaw with broccoli, which he loved. My scampi shrimp were perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. It had just the right amount of sauce on the pasta. My husband ordered his steak medium, and it arrived as ordered and was very flavorful. Broccoli and a nice baked potato rounded out his meal. He reported that he felt his meal overall was quite good. Our salads, which came with the meal, were cool and crisp, and the house dressing was lovely! We ordered a Creme Brulee and a lemon cake for dessert. They were both delightful....I am dreaming about that cake still...it was very richly lemon flavored and scented and the cake was light and airy. We will be coming back when the restaurant has its liquor license to try it out again!

Prime rib Mothers Day banquet

Moonwinks is presently going through an ownership change so it would not be fair to post a review but the Mothers Day banquet was really good and the service was excellent. My husband enjoyed prime rib and we had a wonderful time

Snow, crab clusters, zucchini, and baked potato

I have been going to Moonwinks for the most part of my life, but recently visited for the 1st time since new ownership took over. Had a lovely time with my bestie. Wendy and Pete were attentive, friendly, and accommodating as bartenders. The menu is well rounded and there is something for everyone as far as appetizers and entrées. We shared 3 decent clusters of snow crab legs which were served with zucchini and a hefty baked potato. Cooked to perfection and plated nicely when served. There is a substantial selection of cocktails and quite a collection of fine bourbon and wine display that only connoisseurs can appreciate. The Owners were kind enough to introduce themselves and we easily chatted & made friends around the bar as we dined. As we discussed mutual acquaintances, I actually met someone who was my sister's former paramour from 30 years ago. That's the type of atmosphere you will find. We had a great time! Good food, excellent service and stellar atmosphere!

Hanging bacon that was incredible! Charcuterie board was also fabulous!

This restaurant is probably the worse one in the area. The food is horrible. The service was great!!

The Kopper Keg

The Kopper Keg

A mid-week lunch, and we beat the crowd. A single waitress…read morecapably handled all tables, and cashed out departing customers. The menu says breakfast is served all day, except Fridays, when breakfast stops at 11:30.

We made a special trip to Cuba and choose the Kopper Keg as our place to eat after reviewing all…read morethe options listed on Yelp/Google. I was hoping for a family owned dinner experience. The overall experience was underwhelming for the price (but that's understandable for the issues in the country atm). Because it was a special occasion and it happened to be friday, I treated myself to the fish fry (I usually avoid it since my husband hates the smell of seafood). It was an impressively sized piece of fish with a teensy cup of tartar sauce. It was then that I realized I hadn't asked if they used sweet or dill pickles in their sauce. I tasted it, it was sweet (ugh!), so I asked for some malt vinegar to try and substitute flavor. I really tried to eat and enjoy my meal, I used the vinegar, as much as I could squeeze out of the lemon and eventually a sprinkle of salt to give it some vibrancy. The problem was, without a good sauce, I couldn't get over how unpleasant the batter was and how flavorless the fish was (plus the inner layer of the batter was also unpleasant mushy). Eventually (about four bites in, the piece of fish is still larger than my plate), my husband remarks that there is no reason for me to force myself to choke down what I found truly disgusting. I relent and give the waitress my plate, explaining I just can't eat it and I don't have an appetite now for any replacement so I'll just wait for everyone else to finish. All of that wasn't even the main issue. After we get our check, I see a $11.Something charge I didnt understand. I ask for clarification by the older lady running checkout. It turns out it wasn't "$11" but a poorly written "4" that was the addon for my daughter's fries. (Wasn't aware that a $12 sandwich didn't come with fries for less than almost $5 but, I guess that's our bad for not checking the menu when the waitress asked if she wanted fries with it...fries that were just previously frozen blah things with no seasoning that my daughter didn't even eat, but again, that's a cost of going out I guess?) Finally, I gently bring up asking about some sort of discount off my $15+ meal as I could not eat the entree. I never asked for it to be comped, I opened with a suggestion of a discount because I had eaten the side of fruit and mashed potatoes. The lady acted as if I was insulting her and/or trying to score a free meal. She explained how it wasn't their fault if I didn't like the taste of their tartar sauce. I was confused and flabbergasted for a moment. Admittedly, I didn't point out how I had struggled to attempt to eat the fish despite the tartar sauce issue and still couldn't stomach it. I doubt it would have mattered, she likely would have said it was my fault because it wouldn't be the resturant's problem I physically couldn't choke down their nasty breading. I was so upset that my rare treat had turned out this way and put a rain cloud over the rest of my day in Cuba. Because I have neurological problems and issues with confrontation, I couldn't think clearly or argue after essentially being told it wasn't the resturant's responsibility that I was "too picky". So I just asked my husband to pay quickly and hurried out before I started to cry in the resturant. I suppose this could be my fault for not fully explaining how disgusting I found their food, but I thought that would be impolite feedback surrounded by customers. The tartar sauce (which the 1/3 of a shotglass size of dip wouldn't have even been appropriate for the size of fish even if it hadn't been sweet pickles) seemed a more polite excuse than saying their breading and fish was physically inedible. I didn't try to have it replaced or cause a scene, yet I still feel like I was being treated like I was trying to "get one over" on them. The salted caramel milkshake was very tasty tho?
