Wellsville has a few gems for southern tier food and this place is often hyped for being a must try in this area. I would agree- it definitely lived up to its name. This is a roast beef place. Flip to the back page and you want to try their roast beef entrees. The meat melts in your mouth. I recommend pairing this with their red skinned mash potatoes. I recommend a medium or medium rare to really appreciate the quality of this roast. We also ordered their fish tacos to change variety. get the Haddock for better moisture- mahi was the other option but I find mahi to be sometimes too fishy and dry unless paired with a more "Caribbean" vibe. Haddock holds a fish fry better in the taco. Unfortunately their slaw was not my fav. too sweet. It was like someone added an extra scoop of honey/sugar. I am definitely trying a roast beef sandwich or their ribs next time. Atmosphere was also great. Had that old school old pub feel but the exterior looked modern. Staff were friendly enough- our waitress was on their brisker end but nothing to where it affected our experience. They hands down have the absolute best sliced roast beef, beef on wick, and rack of ribs within a 2 hour radius of them. I'll take that one step further and let you know that I lived in Houston TX for 5 years and my friend lived in SC for 7 years, Beef Haus has the best ribs we've ever had in OUR LIVES! Such a cute place! So clean! So welcoming! Amazing Friendly owner, bartenders, and waitresses every single time. Outdoor seating in the summer. Beautiful private room to reserve. Great menu, meats, beer selection, wine selection, cocktails, and desserts. I found them a year ago and I've been back 5 times (I live 92 minutes away and drive there just for them). This place is 100 times better than the shell of what beef and barrel is currently and 20 times better than beef eaters. Cute place in Wellsville. Parking on street. Food was great. I had beef on weck with home made German potato salad and my husband had a Ruben with fries. Took a while for a waitress out of three waitresses on the floor and it took a while to give us the check. After she mentioned she was short handed in the kitchen. Bartender was also at carving station. The only con I saw a sandwich plated from the carving station without gloves. read more

Thanks so much to the awesome staff at Beef Haus for making my group event work out perfectly. Our group of 17 used a room toward the back where it was set up nicely in a "U" shape. Our server was awesome and checked in frequently with everyone for both satisfaction with orders and refills on drinks. The food was delicious - the group ordered a wide variety of items from sandwiches to prime rib and everyone was raving how great everything was. Price-wise, I feel our bill total was very fair for the size of the group - ending up somewhere around $50 pp including several who ordered alcohol. read more

The entrance is very nice and welcoming. The restrooms are also very nice and clean. The waitress was kinda rude and short with us. She commented that she was about to get to go but we showed up. This is why the lower marks. My wife didn't order anything. My daughter wasn't impressed with the menu and only got mozzarella sticks. They were fried well. The marinara tasted very good I got a delmonico with mashed potatoes and a salad. The steak was cooked well but was cut thinner than I usually like. I know different places have different cuts. It just seemed thin, I am used to a Delmonico steak being a thick steak. It was seasoned well. So well in fact there was a small pile in the center of it. Almost had a Montreal type seasoning taste. The mashed potatoes were red potatoes with skins but didn't have any flavor. Some places over season or over salt and this place doesn't. I order food to go from there often.. after having the same problem a couple of weeks in a row I called and explained what happened, after a discussion with a manager and with the cooks there was a slip set aside for me for a free app... I called an order in last night and asked for my free app as well, noone knew anything about it.. after 15 minutes on the phone and talking to 3 people they had found it and all was good.. I pop in, grab my food and make sure it's all there.. come home and 1/3 of the way thru my burger I find a bread tie tucked between my burger and bottom bun.. this was absolutely done Intentionally as I had just been told the cooks had been asked about my free app.. this was vile, filthy, and disgusting.. The beef on wreck sandwiches are not as good as they once were. The rolls are smaller and the beef is not as thinly sliced which makes it very tender. If you order your beef " medium Or medium-well" they slice the rare meat and put it in the heated Au jus until it is brought up to temperature and fineness. read more

Avoid this place! We had a horrible experience Friday night. The greeter seated the three of us at a table for two (?). We sat for over 20 minutes before a waitress ever came to us. It wasn't until after we ordered that they brought a third table setting to us. Waitress brought us our appetizer with no appetizer plates. We had to use our napkins. She brought our food and said 'careful, the plates are hot' as she handed them to us (?). We laughed because our food (2 beef dinners and a cheeseburger) were COLD! The beef was cold, dry, no au jus. My drink (lemonade) was empty at this time and I had put it on the edge of the table for a refill, and the waitress never came back until we were done eating and rudely asked 'was something wrong with your cheeseburger!?' No drink refill. The greeter walked by dozens of times without ever stopping to ask how things were. We could hear the waitresses in thf back room bad mouthing customers. In addition to the service and the food being bad, if you want to use the restroom, you have to stand in the coats on the coat rack to wait your turn (a 1 person bathroom that was filthy and smelled). Beef Haus is the best place I have ever been in my life. I want to make it very clear that the moment I stepped into the restaurant my life changed forever. The smell of hot beef and the warm family atmosphere were immediately enticing. When my friends and I sat down I ordered a beer which came in a glass so beautifully chilled and frosty I shed a single tear of joy. I ordered the roasbeef plate, which included a salad I can only describe as transcendent. I ate the perfectly chilled lettuce and perfect baby croutons as I watched a man who I think I can safely call a beef artist carve a roast with love and attention. When the beef arrived, I was overwhelmed with emotion. Every slice perfectly seasoned, perfectly juicy. My friend drank the beef juice off of every one of our plates and received absolutely no judgement, just pure beef juice nirvana. The weck rolls were as pillowy as the walls of heaven. The horseradish practically whinnied. The warm apple cider would, frankly, put the ambrosia of the gods to shame. Finally, when I washed my hands after dinner, I was absolutely delighted to see a bowl of what I hoped was more beef juice by the sink-- it turned out to be something even better, a locally made moisturising sugar scrub. My hands no longer smelled like beef, they smelled like lavender and the memory of long-past romps in the park with gentle dogs and good friends. I cannot recommend Beef Haus highly enough. I salute the men and women- nay, beef *auteurs* who work there. My only wish is that they sold merchandise so I could carry the memory of the Beef Haus experience with me always. On the advice of the front desk of my hotel, I walked down Main Street to Wellsville's Beef Haus. I expected it to either be a steakhouse or German restaurant, but both guesses were wrong -- Beef Haus is a bar and grill that specializes in roast beef sandwiches among other food items, including pub-style appetizers, desserts, and entrees that run the gamut from fajitas to pasta. Food I had during my two visits to Beef Haus included: Beef on Weck ($7.25) - sliced roast beef on a kummelweck roll. What IS a kummelweck roll? An odd sandwich bun popular in western New York that is actually a kaiser roll topped with caraway seeds and pretzel salt, and then split, with the bottom of the top half brushed with au jus. Though I live in San Diego now, I went to RIT for college, so I've experienced Beef on Weck before -- it didn't do much for me 20 years ago, and it does less for me now. The pretzel salt results in an unevenly salty sandwich. Despite my aversion to the overall concept, Beef Haus's roast beef itself is excellent. I had mine cooked at medium rare. Good bold flavor, lightly seasoned, and plenty tender. Two Sides ($2.25 together, when ordered with sandwich) - I had the Potato Wedges which were old-school "rustic" potato wedges that are not horrible once they're salted. Cole Slaw is average and perhaps a tad too sweet for me. Mudd Pie ($4.50) - coffee ice cream sitting on an oreo-cookie crumble-crust with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. First, the bad: the ice cream came out of the kitchen hard and not creamy. The good: everything else -- especially the hot fudge sauce, which was dense, rich, and warm. This is a significantly sized dessert that you should plan to share unless you desire a gall bladder attack. Cocktails ($4-$7) - Beef Haus has a full bar with a limited selection. Don't expect to find single-malt whiskies here, for instance, though most low-end to mid-range call liquors can be had. I stuck with the classics (e.g. Manhattan, Martini, etc.) and enjoyed strong, generous pours on my cocktails. Beef Haus is a nice small-town restaurant/bar where everyone knows everyone. Food and booze is cheap, people are friendly, and restaurant is clean. After eating nearly everywhere in Wellsville, I wouldn't recommend any other bar/restaurant in Wellsville Village to a business traveler passing through town. My girlfriend and I had a date night here, and you know it's a "fancy" date when you go and order steaks. They were delicious and made to order (aka when you order medium or medium rare it actually is). The steak fries were good and the tall beers were $4.50 each. (Coming from NYC I really appreciate the value of a dollar up here). Service was really good; everyone was really friendly and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Five of my family went there for my brother's birthday. The waitress brought our drinks quickly, but then took quite some time to take our orders. Three times she said she'd be back for our orders. She brings the food out, serves three of our group, then the tray with two of our meals crashed to the floor. Broken plates, food everywhere, including on the two of our group sitting on the outside of our booth. I know things can happen, so we didn't make a big deal of it. She brought the two remaining meals pretty quickly. After a bit, a man came over (possibly the manager) and made kind of a snarky comment, but no apologies. The waitress said she'd comp some dessert, but that didn't happen. Everytime I'm in Wellsville I have to stop off at Beef Haus....They are the BEST!!!... They are very very professional and the staff is superb. I have my favorite waitress which is the the small blond with the beautiful short haircut (she's so so sweet and might I add sexy and adorable too) but yet so professional always. You will never ever ever find a Full Rack of Ribs that taste as excellent and YUMMYLICIOUS with the best price ever (so so tender falling off the bone tasty) at Beef Haus. They give you so so much for the price and Tony Romas in NYC and all these other so called rib places can never ever ever compare to their ribs. Its a totally totally different taste than any of these NYC restaurants and I must state that Tony Roma's is the WORST IN NYC. I took part of my ribs home back to NYC and didn't eat them until (3) three days later and they still were off the bone soft with that delicious sauce they use and the taste have me craving for more. The Beef Haus used to be, literally, the only game in town. A bit more competition has definitely given them a bit of a kick toward doing better than they did a while back, but there's a ways to go. Really, the food here is nothing special. The most recent thing I ate here, Pasta Alfredo, had virtually no flavor and the sauce was so thin it was practically water. Isn't the whole point of Alfredo for it to be thick and creamy? I actually ordered it again, hoping that it was a one-time fluke. It wasn't. The one thing that I have to say warrants three stars is the Mud Pie. I dream about that pie. The Beef Haus is OK for when you're in Wellsville and don't want to travel too far for a meal. But if you want good steak, hit up the Country Club on a Friday night. The food's better and the drinks are cheaper. We had our first dinner at the Beef Haus and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our dinner. I had a full rack of ribs, my wife had the Bleu Burger. The ribs were tender and delicious but what really impressed me was the salad that came with it was huge and delicious! My wife commented that it looked like one that we made at home. Full of fresh vegetables and the Italian dressing with crumbly blue was excellent! My wife's burger was cooked the way she wanted it and our Margaritas were perfect on a gorgeous night. The one clink in the night was the dessert. We got the Berry cake to go and I was disappointed at the small size of it and it just tasted and looked old. This is a great restaurant located in the heart of downtown Wellsville, NY. It is a really nice bar/grill, with some upscale menu items. They have everything from burgers to seafood. We went in and were seated immediately. Drinks were promptly brought out and our order was taken. For the appetizer, we had the spinach artichoke dip which was very good. Came out piping hot, and with plenty of chips which were a mix of home made and commercial. For the dinner, I had the Cajun seafood pasta, on penne. It was shrimp, scallops with sauce that had a kick. Very delicious. My son has the bacon cheese burger, which he described as "kick ass", and better than another restaurant in town that he loves. My wife had the beef on weck. She said that the roll was entirely too hard and crunchy, but the beef was really good. She has been here before and said that the roll is usually not like that, so maybe it was just one of those fluke things. Totally bill came out to $63 which isn't bad for 3 people, considering my wife and I also had two beers each. Would definitely recommend, but can you please change the god awful cover pic you are using on Yelp?
