So visiting Wellsboro for the week , a town that reminds me of Bedford Falls. Had one night to myself and after much research decided to grab dinner at the Roost . My server was Antoinette who was both informative and friendly . Went for the French onion soup and a Chefs Smash Burger. The food came out rapid fire . Just about all at the same time . A pause would have been nice . The onion soup was different . They use pumpernickel bread . The soup was heavy on that bread to the point where I thought it dominated the soup . I don't know if I'd order it a second time . The burger was perfectly cooked made smash burger style .They get the bun from a local bakery and it was very good . Maybe brioche but I could be wrong . It was a good touch . The meat maybe could have used more seasoning but a solid choice and the tots were good as well. I also opted to try the onion rings and they were really great . After dinner I tried one of their ciders and struck up a great conversation with Sean the bartender who is a true mixologist with a passion for cooking . What I truly loved about the place , besides the staff was the ambience . The lighting and decorations and just the dam vibe of the joint was really inviting . I'd come back , but I think next time I'll also try some of the other offerings on the menu . I'd give the food a 3 Everything else a 5 Hence the 4 rating

We got in late and were hungry from a few hours of driving, arriving 10 mins to 9pm, which is when they close down the kitchen. They were very accommodating though and didn't seem irritated or anything with a last minute order, which is a pleasant surprise. The food was absolutely fabulous, from presentation to taste. Cocktails were strong and service was quick. We really liked the decor inside, very well done and unique! Wether a local or in town visiting for the trails or festival, this should be an absolute must stop.

Enjoyed lunch outside, since we had our canine friend with us. Our server was very attentive, continuously filling up our water glasses on this unseasonably hot day! Food was excellent- mac and cheese with wings, pork southern quinoa bowl, and pork tacos...and rosemary aoli fries. Wow..kind of sorry we didn't eat inside, as the steam punk lighting and *gasp* bathrooms were insanely cool. Love the decor! Would be a regular if I lived closer!

6 ox sirloin and fries. 20 bucks With 3 bucks up charge for onions.

Entered restaurant on a Sunday evening with my wife and two daughters. We. Were seated timely and drinks were brought out to us. We ordered a pork belly Brie bites. Leading with the word "Pork Belly"" is being generous. It pretty much was bread chips with a very small piece of pork belly and a lot of fig jam and a blob of brie cheese. If you like Pork Belly this dish is not for you. Sadly the portioning was very very skimpy. The 6OZ sirloin steak i ordered with steak fries was average at best. Steak slightly over cooked. A side of onions went for 3.49 in addition to the 20 dollar price tag of the steak. One daughter got the chicken masala needed additional sauce as the flavor was very thin. A flatbread was ordered which again lacked real good flavor. Short on the topping which would have solved the flavor problem were missing. Interior was nice. Service was fine. This place needs to put more money into the food servings and less into the decoration. Would go back in a pinch, but don't expect a great food experience.

    BINGO!!!

We went on a Sunday when everything in town was closed- but thankfully they were open and had fun going on! There was free bingo! I got a peanut butter cup martini and it was AMAZING. The wings were great and so were the fried cauliflower and sweet potato puffs! Def would go again

Our group of 6 adults, young and old, stopped in for a late lunch after hiking at the Grand Canyon of PA. This is a really cool, vintage vibe bar. On a Thursday afternoon, the place was not busy. The service was excellent. Salads were big and fresh and well prepared. The vegan boneless wings and flatbreads were good. Sandwiches were big and full of flavor. Espresso martini was amazing! Craft beers were also really good.

What a great experience! We're here working from out of town and the staff accommodated our group of surly construction workers with ease and class. I love the steampunk theme and our server Antoinette was spectacular! Anytime I'm ever in Wellsboro this will be my first stop

Adorable quaint and comfortable atmosphere. Brought my mom to her old stomping grounds Wellsboro and she remembered this from the 50's when it was Bro

The Roost is the best place to eat in Wellsboro! The food is outstanding, their whiskey selection is impressive, and their ambiance is clever and fun. My wife and I ended up eating here twice in two days! I ate the Vegabond vegan burger and fries and my wife had the gluten-free chicken wings on the first night. I also tried a couple of their bourbons (Blue Note and Nulu) and my wife got a smoothie. The staff were friendly and attentive. At night they had live music and even the restrooms were decked out with a keg for a sink! If you find yourself in or near Wellsboro, stop in. You won't be sorry.

Does the Roost permit dogs? Sadie is a very friendly Bernese who loves to join us when allowed. Is there outside seating? Rob and Sue

There is a couple tables outside that I've seen people with their pets.

The visit before last was bad, and this last time was just so dreadful. I had to update my review. Ownership has changed a couple times over the years, and now the restaurant is as bad as you can get. Other than the french fries, my meal was downright awful. The quality of my chicken fried steak about as good as an old TV dinner Salisbury steak. Very low quality pre-frozen portion. The salad bar was OK, but very skimpy compared to past visits., and the bread was stale. The service was terrible too, as we had to hunt down our middle-aged waitress for everything, and I mean everything. She never checked on us until she brought the check, and there were plenty of things that we needed. She never bothered clearing dirty plates or glasses off our table, and was just generally miserable as well. I really hate leaving one star, because I I know how hard it is to run a restaurant, and I really did like this place for so long.

A kind of expensive stop for meh food and beer. Staff were amazing, so I feel slightly bad for a critical review. ---------------------------- Parking/ This started off the experience rocky for our vehicle. There seemed to be no specific parking dedicated to the brewery. There seemed to be a lot next door for the bank, but there was tons of signage saying it was for the bank, and others would be towed. There seemed to be street parking, but tons of signs saying no parking, loading zones, etc. After three trips around the block settled on the bank since it was Sunday. Had this been any other day, I could have seen us giving up and going elsewhere. Ambiance/ Very brewery-esque with tanks, natural vibes, etc. There was a live jazz trio playing who sounded lovely, but I just wasn't in the mood to try to talk over music, and asked to be moved further away. It seemed like the general feel, many were sat in main bar area, and asked to move back. Staff/ Every single staff member was super friendly, helpful, prompt, and trying to make your experience go well, so super shout out to the staff. Food/ We were stopping through the area around lunch time, so we didn't need anything crazy, but if you weren't getting breakfast or a burger, there wasn't much else. We both ordered a burger (All American and the breakfast/fried egg one). The All-American was good and I upgraded to fries. Breakfast burger was "good enough" I'm told. The chips that come with the burgers are just bagged kettles chips and not homemade. Beers/ We actually came in thinking we weren't going to drink, but were suckers for trying new things. Husband had an IPA and I had a fruited sour. Neither of us liked our beers, and I purposely made sure to drink mine before finishing my food so I didn't have to end with it. Price/ I don't know the area well but beers were $7-$8 for 10 oz pours. For two burgers, one with bagged chips and one with upgraded fries, and 2 not good beers, our bill was $50+. Which isn't terrible, but I could find better places to eat for that price point.

The Good: *Great location right across from the theater (we were there to see a graduation) *Friendly service *Small dog-friendly front patio *Live music *Sunday Brunch *Fried Pierogis were delicious and served up hot and fresh. I wish they were a little more seasoned, as the mashed potato filling needed more salt. But ain't that the way taters always is? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *Carissa loved her Korean BBQ Salmon Salad, as the fish was cooked perfectly and the house KBBQ sauce was delicious. *Huge draft list of housemade beers, ciders, and even sodas. *My Pittsburger was epic!
