On August 31 my wife and I went here for dinner. There were about 4 people in the restaurant. We each ordered a garlic cheesy beef. It took about 20 minutes to get the food. Not a show stopper but really slow. We picked up the bag at the counter and went back to the table. When I unpacked my sandwich I found a glove wrapped around the sandwich. I looked and said to my wife "well at least they use gloves". Brushed it off, just like the wait. Next we took a bite of the sandwich and where is the beef? Both sandwiches had so little beef on them it was like a quarter of a sandwich. I will admit when we finally got to the beef it was good but for the price there should be at least beef throughout the sandwich. I posted a review on Facebook and a short time later was asked to send them a message with contact information. I sent therequested information. I was messaged back asking me when a good time would be for the manager to contact me. They said they wanted "to make things right". I have them some times to contact me and also said of I did not answer please leave a message and I would call back. So my review was posted on August 31. I receive the above response. I wanted to give them a chance to make things right so I respond to the request for a pm. They respond asking for my phone number and when is a good time to call. I responded with my number and when to call. Today is September 15 and I have received no call. Too late now, I will make sure I let anyone who asks what I think about this business. There are plenty of places right in this area for a quality beef sandwich, where they really put beef on it. We will never be back but it appears they don't care. read more

Excellent french fries homemade. Nice staff. They make A wonderful hot dog with all kinds of extras on it. All The meat was good the chicken was good the beef was good there bacon was also good. Other than a few flies which annoyed me I don't think anybody would be disappointed with this food. read more

Needed to kill sometime (drove wife to a wedding shower) and like any good Chicago boy I searched for pizza of beef. Should have chosen Pizza. I ordered beef sweet peppers fries and a coke. There were only 4 other people in side and they had food, so was surprised it took 15 min to get mine. My first issue was the amount of beef on the sandwich, was an inch of bread on either side and was not what you usually would expect. After I got my food I could not find a clean table. I understand it's not a full service restaurant but send someone out with a dish towel every now and then. I did like the fries, they are fresh cut and pretty good. read more

I have always ordered cheese on my beef sandwiches and it NEVER looked like this, but Beef Shack had to ruin that streak. I liked how it was fresh and HOT but thats the thing though, I had to peel off the cheese from the wrapper while it was still HOT! Way over priced! Good beefs can be had at many other local restaurants. However, I love the drive thru option and the fries are second to none. The problem is that there is no kids menu, a plains hot dog costs $4, not discount even without the Chicago style toppings, and everything costs more. The salad is good, get it, but be sure you get the right, house dressing, otherwise it's an utter disappointment. This happened to me once, and I was so sad. Order fries no matter what, and be brave, stray from the beefs and try a burger. The burger is very good, and I'm a quasi vegetarian. read more

I went there at about 12 o'clock and ordered my food and as I was eating I saw the cashier eat some fries out of a drive-through order. I thought that was absolutely disgusting. The two star rating was for a combination of visits. I have been three times since the opening. Positives: Good location and nice build out of store itself. Drive thru has improved greatly since opening Fries always good Negative: Beef sandwich (its in the name!!) is hit or miss. I have had one really good sandwich there but the consistency is an issue. The last time I went the sweet peppers were darn near raw....had to toss them... Tonight, it seems someone used way too much salt. It tasted like someone salted the bun or dropped a bunch of salt accidentally into the gravy. Tossed more than half the sandwich just too salty. Im a three strikes and your out kinda guy. The food is great, but time after time the person taking payments at the window has their mask beneath their mouth. As somebody who is high risk for Covid, this greatly concerns me. Do the cooks "wear" a mask like this as well? And he shoved his face out the window to tell me to pull I to the parking lot while I wait, a foot away from me. I'd like to think restaurants would do a better job of enforcing masks, as health and safety should have been a priority even before a global pandemic. I've been to 2 other Beef Shack locations and wanted to try out this new one. As always, the cheezy beef on garlic w/ hot peppers was juicy, garlicky, cheesy, and delicious! I will never get a dried out flavorless beef from portillos or buona ever again. The french fries were on point as well! My wife and I eat keto so we go for low-carb options. She got the combo with no bun. Italian sausage was great! Soft crumbly texture (not falling apart). Great tasting beef (important when there is no bread). Salad had lots of chicken and it didn't taste fake like some places that use the pre grilled chicken "strips". I must say beef shack may be one of the most delicious and good places to get some quick food. There beef is very good and I would definitely recommend trying it. There are many things you can do with the beef such as add the beef shack giardiniera and cheese which makes it quite delicious. There fries are also some of the best I've had. They are hand cut and seasoned good. Beef shack is not only limited to that though because there burger may be one of the best fast food burgers I have had. I was recently visiting the Chicagoland area for work and found myself lost and starving in Elgin. I've never heard of the Beef Shack, however, it must have been meant to be because my lunch was absolutely delicious. Grilled cheese with tomato brought me back to my childhood and the house cut fries were that perfect balance of crispy outside and soft fluffy center. Everything was so good I actually decided to go back for a chocolate milkshake which was again perfection. This is the newest Beef Shack location, so I think they are still working out a few of the challenges. This location has a drive-through, but I found the time it took me to go through it was quite slow compared to other restaurants- I am hoping this is because it is new. The food is still very tasty- we like their cheesy beef on garlic the best. I also ordered the cheesy garlic bread for the first time and it was incredibly tasty. Last visit was months ago when they had reopened. Ordered 2 burgers. 2 fries. Simple. They forgot/lost our order. Come to the car 20 min later to get it again. Another 20 min bring us 1 burger 1 fry. Oops. Another 20 min to get the rest. An hour of BS. they give us 10 $3 each coupon cards for the mess up. Fast forward to today. Go In today. Order 1 burger 1 fri. Pay with the coupon cards. Oh sorry you can only use 1 per visit. I said I earned them I. One visit why can't I use them in 1 visit. So if anyone wants $3 off the rest of the coupon cards are in their parking g lot right now. My coworkers and I were hungry for cheeseburgers today so we decided to order from Beef Shack. We were happy to see that we could place the order online and have it delivered to our office. We could even leave the tip on the credit card before the order was made or delivered! Fast forward an hour and 20 minutes, after we called to see where our order was, the delivery person arrived. We were starving so we rushed to the kitchen to get our food. The disappointment continued. The orders were wrong, the fries were cold and soggy, the $1 shack sauce container was about enough sauce for one fry and one of the four burgers was completely missing. We called again. fast forward another 25 minutes and the final burger was delivered. Wrong, but at least it made it. No discounts were given, the food was sup-par and waiting an hour and 50 minutes for a fast food quality burger is ridiculous. read more

Th customer service was really good. When we first came in the lemonade tasted just like water and u asked if it could be refilled and they changed it right away so that was a plus. It still wasn't as strong either way but better. All the workers were very friendly. The food was fresh but the beefs were very bland didn't have any taste I got gravy on the side which was tasteless as well. The fries were too salty for my taste so I couldn't tell u if they were good or not. My kids got burgers which the gym was really good but the actual patty was very bland as well. This place probably has one of my favorite burgers. I love the chipotle mayo on it. Their beefs are consistently yummy too and they don't skimp on the meat portion. I also enjoy the fresh cut fries. You can't be fresh to order French fries. Definitely will visit again. read more

Went to the Beef Shack the other day and ordered two beef sandwiches with fries. Way too many fries for one order. The beef, I have to say tasted good, but the bun was where the problem came in. It was not sliced all the way through and as a result there was no beef on a lot of the bun. Bun should have been sliced all the way to bottom of the bun and filled with beef.
