They made a bid based not only on that specification, but also photos I sent showing both the shed and the platform. When the crew arrived, they said (a) they did not know the platform was part of the project and (b) it would cost more to do the job. Since I was stuck, needing to have the old shed gone so the new shed could go in its place, I had no options but to pay more than the bid. The shed and platform were removed, no complaints about the actual work. But had the office manager, Philip, done his job properly, I could have saved a couple of hundred bucks by keeping the platform and staging the new shed atop it. I worry. In the moving business, some local/regional movers play a game where they bid low, then on moving day demand more money saying the job was bigger than expected. This is a well known scam since the person moving cannot stay in their old rental. I hope this is not what Junk Recyclers is doing. So, if you have a small junk hauling gig, they are probably fine. Anything bigger, you might insist on a site visit and firm quote.

They did pack 6 boxes of trash and one box of laundry I had sitting by the washing machine. I asked them to load the boxes in one area last, so they would come off first and be in the back of my storage unit, things I wouldn't immediately need. So, they loaded them first. All those boxes are at the front of my unit. They left things at my house and had to go back and pack and load some more. I asked them to place my file cabinet a certain way in my storage unit and explained why I wanted it that way. They sat it 90 degrees different from my request and told me it would work better for me. (Suppose they think I'm stupid or an idiot) I gave them things out of my house, i.e. laptop computers, books, food hoping to prevent theft. No such luck. They didn't even pack my television, threw a blanket over it and put it on the truck. It's sitting on boxes in my unit, looking like you could turn it on if you had the remote. They told me they wouldn't take any containers with liquids in them, then they stole 2 five gallon gas cans and two smaller ones. They threw a lot of my things into cardboard boxes as big as bathtubs, so they didn't have to actually pack, two of these bathtub boxes. But, they don't have lids for them, just set them open into the unit preventing me from using the vertical space on top of them. Some of my clothing were wadded up so tightly into boxes with the hangers attached, that the sides ripped and the lids couldn't close. They don't understand that tape is supposed to adhere to the cardboard instead of forming a tape handle, despite my multiple suggestions that they adhere the tape on the actual box. I spent four days with these people and tipped each member of the entire team $50.00 each day. I could continue, but it makes me sad that people don't have self gumption or self respect to do a good job anymore, just haphazardly do their job and expect you to reward them.

I called and spoke to Bruce on Sunday. I shared I need to unload the table Monday the next day. Bruce advided he was already booked, but he shared tha he could unload it early the next day before his schedule appointment. I said heck yeah. So I met Bruce and his team 8:00am the next day. They were right on time and unloaded this heavy Ass marble table like they done it a 100 times before. 10min done. Great team to work with and on a almost a impossible last minute request. On top of everything else, I am a painter who owes 62 painted canvases that would have to be moved. Many of which were 4' by 6' in size and like most artist, my work is precious to me. Fortunately my wife and I knew Felicia. We knew she had many years of moving experience and we knew that she prides herself on helping people make a smooth and easy transition from one living situation to another. Additionally, Felicia has much experience setting up homes and a wonderful eye for color and laying out interior spaces. As we hoped, Felicia did a lovely job staging our Asheville home. On her recommendation, we painted the interior, bought new lampshades and some inexpensive accessories. We were thrilled with how the house looked and quite sad that we were going to have to move. Felicia boxed all our belongings and was very attentive to packing the truck to best facilitate an organized and quick unpacking in Miami. I could not have found anyone else who would have so lovingly packed my artwork. All 62 pieces were wrapped in thick moving paper and placed in a hand cut box precisely fitting the canvas. In addition to all of this, Felicia worked diligently at our Miami apartment to make sure that my disabled wife had all her needs addressed from day 1. I have no question that we could not have found anyone who would put so much effort and care in helping us to successfully make what was a very difficult transition. I can recommend Felicia without reservation. I believe her to be a genuinely caring person that will do everything possible to make your move simple and carefree. We're living in a new world where it's wonderful to see women starting and running their own businesses and we feel it is important to support these businesses. Felicia is a strong and determined woman, exactly the type of woman who can create and succeed in building a business in this totally male dominated moving industry.
