Because of our home's location, field mice are expected, but they began entering our home in significant numbers. We used traps and disposed of them ourselves but wanted a professional solution. Before signing a one-year contract with Brody, I explicitly asked whether I could cancel within the first year if the issue continued. Their answer was "yes". After signing, the representative told me that "mice communicate with each other," implying they learn trap locations and warn others. My husband, who grew up in the country, immediately dismissed this as nonsense. I told her I did not sign a one-year contract to be told the only solution was moving traps around. Their first service confirmed my concern: they simply took my traps, moved them around, and placed a few of their own--sometimes directly next to mine. They did not treat the issue, did not seal entry points, and did not provide any professional intervention beyond what we were already doing ourselves. Meanwhile, mice continued entering under the garage door, which Brody claimed they would a replace a liner that should resolve it. Later, they said the part was on backorder. It never arrived. They should have disclosed upfront that: * They planned to rely on trap moving rather than actual treatment. * The garage door guard was unavailable. * They could not realistically prevent mice from entering given our location. * A one-year contract would not add value. Instead, I was misled into a contract that provided no meaningful service. I canceled because they were dishonest, ineffective, and did nothing beyond what we were already doing. Canceling was not an attempt to cause trouble, it was a response to poor service and there was no intent of a bad review as I believe businesses make errors however... Fast forward to today: we have an annual ant issue and wanted a one-time treatment. This is a bit different than a mouse concern and more likely to have an effective solution. I called Brody for a quote (along with a few other pest control businesses), explained that the mouse service had not worked out, and after being placed on hold was told I am banned from receiving Brody services because I canceled a contract early--despite being told I could. I never spoke badly about Brody and even sent them a customer who I will now be sharing this experience with. This is unprofessional, retaliatory, and a clear warning to others to not sign a contract with Brody unless you receive a written guarantee that their services will fully resolve your issue and that you will not be banned if you have sufficient reason to cancel. I was kind, understanding and I also failed to mention, they had a billing concern too, so they had to apply the overcharge to a future visit, but what if I had not caught that overcharge? I was not going to give this review until the representative on the phone told me good luck in the future in a condescending tone when all I asked was for her to pass along my feedback. So this should better get their attention. They were dishonest, ineffective, and punitive when held accountable. I'm no longer able to support this business.

He called us again Sunday morning with an approximate time of arrival. His kept us updated by text narrowing down the exact time. He arrived "dressed for battle" in protective gear. He treated the nest several times, then waited for the hornets to expire. He was at our home for about 45 minutes. He removed the huge nest, bagged it, and took it away with him. After being pretty much held captive and not able to be in our front yard for days, this was a huge relief. I cannot say enough good things about Abdul and the service he provided. He was so knowledgeable and very friendly and personable. He explained that his practices are based on his background in biology and are environmentally friendly. We are considering signing up for a yearly contract with All Star. We have been plagued with ants entering our home over the years, as well as mice. I was the project manager supervising the renovation of a townhouse in the Columbia, Maryland area that has a pest infestation the likes that God himself rarely sees...and believe me, that's saying something. Every square inch (or centimeter for the metrically inclined among us) of the house had some kind of 6-legged, non-rent paying squatter, crawling around, playing cards, checking on their eggs or complaining about a bad call made by the referee against the Ravens in their most recent game against the Steelers. Needless to say when you walked into the home, two things crawled - your skin and the walls. I went through over 32 Raid insect foggers...no, ladies and gentlemen. That's not a typo. I did indeed say 32, in addition to 7 cans of Raid bug spray and I was only able to kill a tenth of what was in there. I felt like Sigourney Weaver marooned on a planet 75 light-years from Earth, positioned near the queen alien's nest with only a slingshot, 7 rocks, a mosquito net and two granola bars. I called a few pest control companies in the area, some of whom were booked solid and one who absolutely would not take the job based on the description alone (gee...whaddaya know - a pest control company that doesn't want to do pest control.) When I got to Phenom, Laurie (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) answered in a voice so polite and possessed a demeanor so jovial, she'd make a Chick-Fil-A employee seem like Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. She patiently listened as I gave her the synopsis of my problem. She then connected me with the supervisor who didn't just send employees out. He came out to the site PERSONALLY, gave an in-depth onsite assessment, and promptly with his associate began the first treatment. He informed me that there would be multiple treatments and that it would take some time, but the schedule was adhered to and the price was quite fair. Long story short, the home looks as though it NEVER had a pest infestation of any kind. And talk about professionalism - they were willing to spray each adjacent unit to ensure the problem did not migrate to the next homeowners over. Now THAT is the definition of good service! I'm not just making this review to make it seem as if they are a great company.
