Last Friday night, I was waiting for an order from Descendant and decided to check out some of the…read morebusinesses while I was waiting. I took a left from the pizza place and found Cookery. I looked at the sign placed on the sidewalk and it offers cooking classes. Cool! What drew me in was a pasta dryer. It was red and translucent. It looked cool. I walked in. There is a little ramp for those who may need a wheelchair to enter and exit the store. Perhaps I had luck on my side. I didn't have anyone asking whether I needed assistance. I like self-discovery when I have nothing in mind to shop for. A female staffer was assisting two other female customers. Judging from their conversation, they would be going at it for a while. One of them was awfully specific about the types of mini bowls that she had in mind. I was correct. They were still talking by the time I had completed by browsing excursion in this store. This store is more on the higher end of kitchen appliances and accessories. If you're looking for higher quality items, you want to shop here. I have a few examples. I found a stainless steel poacher for eggs. I frankly don't think that you need to get one for $15, but you can if you're dying to own one. I found a rather fancy-looking carbonation machine. It made my SodaStream machine that I love look like a toy. I love Le Creuset. It is truly an investment when you are buying pieces, so I don't own a lot of items. I normally hit an outlet or wait for a sale. This place had a silicone brush for basting turkeys or applying egg wash to your pastries before shoving them into the oven. It felt good in my hand until I saw that it was $25. Really? The cooking classes seem to happen at the back. There is a kitchen, but it had so many products around the cooking area that was obviously dormant. It was odd to me. You'd have to take all your products off before you have your cooking class. It seemed like a lot of work. Perhaps there's another kitchen area in the back that I wasn't aware of. Who knows? It was nice browsing around this store. I liked looking at the covered shopping carts. I grew up with a foldable metal one with two wheels. It was bigger that the ones offered here, but I like how your items are protected from the elements. The designed looked nice compared to my boxy ones that I've owned over the years when I didn't have a car and needed to walk to the supermarket down the street. I look forward to returning to this store and checking out their items some more. (31)

Benix - It's now a 'Bowring' store. Same company but just a little more 'high end'.

Sales persons here are nice and friendly, updated me about specials right when I walked in the store and even helping customers to carry bigger boxes. One thing that stood out is there are no tacky yellow signs in "Honest Ed's" type fonts yelling to me specials and how much am I saving if I buy it today! PS. To my fave cooking yelper Tong, you for sure NOT getting a gift certificate from Benix!

Their prices haven't changed in 4 years, the same old pots and pan sets, with their warranty which isn't worth the paper it's written on. They continually change their discounts from 20 to 25 percent but their signs say they are discounting by 60% when a month ago there was 70% off. They have the same crap they've had for over 4 years. So many hurricane lamps it's a joke. Now they've got "AS SEEN ON TV" garbage and their staff continually harasses you! I've never seen anything like these sales people constantly polishing and cleaning and ignoring customers, or hassling them until I just had to walk out, after 4 people approaching me I had finally had it when some girl from behind the corner came up to me to tell me the same thing that the rest of the staff had already been through. Obviously no one has a clue whats going on......if there was a manager I couldn't tell, I couldn't help running out of the store as they were trying to sell damaged, scratched and outdated furniture, and to top it off the staff tell you they are getting new stuff, but I've been in and out of the store to see the same ole boring white wear and old patterns on over priced dishes. I just decided that at least Zeller's had a selection of actual kitchen products unlike Benix which just carries pet beds, hurricane lamps and has the stupidest staff ever!

There's an abundance of kitchen supplies from fancy gadgets, baking wares, kitchen storage, tools, and many more of things you didn't know you need. If there's a specific kitchen ware you need, you'll likely find it here. The owners are also very friendly. They know their stuff and are always happy to help. I always enjoy having a look through and seeing what I can find. Depending what you're looking for, the value is really quite a huge range. Compared to William Sonoma for example, you'll find fancy items here for a little bit cheaper. But there are also things you can get from Amazon or in local stores much cheaper. I.e. they priced a potatoes ricer at $43 sale price, but you can get it for $35 online. If you find something you really want here, just take a second to check the prices if you don't already know it. Make sure you're getting a good price. Sometimes it's a good deal, other times it's not actually. Either way, I love stopping by here
