Zero return options for online purchases. I live in Ottawa, bought several items online. However, I was sent a mug in a different colour than I had indicated in my order. The only solution? Return in person. WHAT? I live more than 4 hours away from the nearest store. I am a fan of this chain of housewares so will compare it to the other store of this chain. The layout is odd as the entrance is on the main street (one way and exit is on the side) Variety is pretty much at par at the other stores and location is easily accessible (one of the subway terminal is right opposite the side entrance) Staff was there when needed though a few times I have walked in I knew exactly what I needed so I required minimal assistance. Plenty of gadgets for the cook at home and they are priced well usually when on sale. I would say 3.5 star (4 stars for other location as I find the layout a bit better at other stores) read more

A sneeze broke the sugar jar! It all happened in slow motion. I had just finished using the sugar and was putting it back in its place. Then I sneezed...and somehow my hands lost their grip on the jar and it fell. I really thought it would just fall and be fine. But no. The jar and lid smash into several pieces, spewing sugar everywhere. As I looked down, I had 2 thoughts: - dang, that's a lot of sugar wasted! - dang, I'll have to go to K-Stuff Plus! I have a love-hate relationship with K-Stuff. I love the items I can get in there for a decent price. I hate that because things are affordable, I end up walking out of there with more than I needed, and don't end up saving one frigging penny. So on my lunch, I headed up to Bloor and ventured in. It probably doesn't take that long to choose a new sugar jar. However, the different options had me standing there for about 20 min. Finally a salesperson came over and helped me choose the right one. It was $4 so I was really excited about not having to spend too much. Then I started to think: shouldn't I buy 3 more to complete the set? I only broke one but I couldn't have the other remaining jars not matching! It would be very awkward at night when they come alive and the old jars pick on the remaning sugar jar for being different (If it can happen in a Disney movie, then I KNOW it's real). I was next in line at the cash and a line began to form behind me. The one cashier noticed and immediately called for back-up. In seconds, two cashiers showed up and I was out in a jiffy. I can't wait to get home and fill my jar with sugar! I apologize in advance to the remaining jars that were subsequently replaced due to this store. read more

I decided to update my review for this place. For just one reason, really. I'm not usually a vindictive person, but the latest customer service I received put me off this place forever, I feel. I bought two small scales for home use, but one of them was a really bad quality and would automatically turn off after ~10 secs. Granted, the scales were cheap at $20 each. But that's beside the point. These guys were happy enough to receive my money, but once I wanted it back ( I brought the scale back after less than a day, all of the packaging provided, no fuss, no drama) they decide that they want to play games with me and start arguing that I actually DO want this scale and shouldn't return it. In the end, I had to argue for my money back, and will never return here again. read more

The pluses are the product selection and the location -- it's nice to have a store with a wide colour selection of turkey basters that's so central. The store has a staffer stationed every 20 feet or so; you can get help easily. For $55, I purchased a sturdy indoor/outdoor rug that off-gassed so badly it made me nauseous even after three days of open windows and air filter. Its three reeking days on my kitchen floor probably knocked a year off my cat's life. Kitchen Stuff Plus refused to take Stinky McRug back because it has spent three days on an actual kitchen floor -- even for a partial store credit. Their manager says their policy is to "only accept returns of items that can be resold at full cost." The product I purchased was so stinky I walked away and left it at Kitchen Stuff Minus for them to dispose of (hopefully as hazardous waste) rather than dragging it home. So look (and sniff) carefully, because their return policy stinks, too. read more

I purchased a mandoline set from this store. I used it once and realized how poorly it was made. Food could easily get stuck in a gap behind the blade and it was really difficult to clean. I took it back for a refund so I could purchase one that didn't have that design flaw. The store manager refused to give me a full refund claiming that ALL of them have the same problem. Not knowing any better, I believed him and accepted store credits. The same week, I purchased an Oxo mandoline for about the same amount. It was so well made that I could clean it just by rinsing it under the tap. The arrogant manager obviously didn't know how ignorant he was. read more

Had to buy myself a jar-opener-helper, as mine broke and I can't open a jar of pickles without it to save my life. They did have what I was looking for, and it was within the price I was willing to pay. The negatives: you get trapped. Why can't we exit and enter via Yonge Street? What's the big deal? Who is hiding cutting boards in their jackets that this is necessary - PLUS you have at least 5 staff members trolling the floor. Totally weird. I had an empty Starbucks cup with me and I didn't want to carry it anymore, so I asked at the cash if they had a garbage I could throw it out in -- "Is it empty?" the cashier said with major 'tude. Yeah, dude, it's empty. Just take it from me so I can have my hands free to spend more money. Fine, but customer service/trust in customers could be improved. read more

While not as large as it's brothers and sisters in the suburbs, this location has the core items that you'll need. I rearely find myself stumpped thinking where to try next not being able to find what I came in for. The staff on the floor are always extremely helpful. They'll not only show you where the item is that you're looking for, but spend a minute talking you through the features of it or talking about the different products in the assortment. My only hangup on this store is the process of getting through the check-out. I understand that certain things like dishes take longer because they have to be wrapped and handled carefully. However it just seems like they take a little took long with the average customer. Sometimes you just need to get in and out, but you can't do that here. read more

So they have two entrances to this store but only one exit, and the one exit is the one on the side street, not on Yonge (or Hwy 11 as Google maps likes to call it). That annoys me. That is the reason for the -1 star. Seriously. They hide the cash at the back of the store, and because they are so paranoid people will steal, you have to go that way to exit. Which is fine if you are purchasing, but I go in here a lot and don't find what I need and then I have to walk around and about just to get out of the store. It irks. Otherwise this place is great. Workers in this store help you look for things! It's fantastic! The selection and prices are also good. I just wish they would let me exit onto Yonge Street. Sigh. read more

Dangerous! There are so much kitchen and house stuff here that you didn't even know you needed until you get drawn in by the pretty colours and shiny metal hardware. One of the fantastic features about this place is that many of their products are a blend of both function and design - aprons that look like dresses, ladles and things with fruity tooty colours, etc. As this is a smaller downtown location, I find that it doesn't necessarily have the breadth of merchandise that other larger locations have. read more

When coming here, it really pays to do your research ahead of time, some things are cheaper elsewhere and sometimes the build quality isn't so great especially for plastic kitchen gadgets. What really stands out here is the excellent service, helpful staff and endless selections for almost anything that I could want. Between Tap Phong Trading and this KSP, I pretty much have most of my kitchen needs taken care of especially when it comes to small appliances, knives, cutlery, scales, pans and storage. This place can be a bit overwhelming with inventory stocked well up to 10 feet on the walls and 5 feet on the floor aisles. Sometimes you'll be asked if you need help by 3 different people, but that's okay, they're attentive and most are actually knowledgeable especially as it relates to sales not normally advertised. Very satisfied with my ongoing experiences here, but don't bother giving your phone number at the cash that's just bogus, keep your receipts for expensive items like a normal person. read more

On average, I have had terrible customer service here. The eager staff are very pleasant but the management and store return/price matching policies drove me away. I have had two incidents with unused products that I tried to return. In both cases, although I received a full return, I was given quite the tirade that I didn't know how to use the item or that I should have considered if I really needed an item. How bizarre to be chastised for changing my mind! On my most recent occasion, I showed the managed a competitor's web page to get a price match. The items I wanted were the exact same items with a 20% discount. The manager told me that he would have to: 1) contact the store to find the skew no. to check if the products are the same and 2) had to make sure that the prices on sale were in-store only. The items were clearly marked "in-store" only on the web site AND were the exact same products. Shame that in this day and age of big box stores that this little chain of stores is so uninspiring and rigid. I will never go back here even though I live a block away. read more

wah! this store is such a trap, just like shoppers. i promised myself I wouldn't buy anything, and guess what happened?!! There's way too much useful gadgets type things in here, and good sales. Everything I see, I'm like, "I can use that" and have to think twice, or three times whether I would actually use it, or have an alternative already at home. And standing in line is the worst, because I was so distracted with all the little things around me that I didn't know what the cashier was telling me. Lots of kitchen and bathroom accessories. I find most this stuff better than Ikea but far from quality. Good place for branded items, they had Sodastream machines on 25% off. That has to be the best price I've ever seen. Look carefully, a lot of the stuff you buy here will end up on next years yard sale table. read more

Similar to Bed, Bath and Beyond, Kitchen Stuff Plus stores are a smaller, Canadian-owned chain that sells kitchen and home living wares and great prices. I love coming to this store to take a look at their photo albums and other photo organizers as I am taking time to redo my extensive photo collections. The store is odd in its layout as you must exit through their Hayden Street exit since their Yonge Street entrance does not allow customers to exit. Carrying many name brands when it comes to appliances, I shop here often to buy items I can't find elsewhere and ship them as gifts to friends in the States and Australia. Great place to shop for X-mas gifts. Make sure to subscribe to their weekly e-mails for notices on upcoming sales and valuable coupons off your next purchase. Hello, I was in-store at the Yonge and Bloor location today. I purchased an item and at checkout the sales clerk asked me if I wanted to donate a dollar for breast cancer research. Two things: 1. I'm giving my business to your store. I don't like being asked , in front of everyone in the line (nice pressure tactic by the way) if I want to donate money. In case you don't realize it most people are embarrassed to say no. 2. I responded 'no, thanks' to the sales clerk, and she responded that I could win a mixer if I donate. I told her I already had a mixer and she responded- "Oh, you can still donate a dollar you know". Perhaps you should tell your staff that when a customer says no, that's precisely what they mean. Attempting to humiliate and pressure your customers, who are in line because they've chosen to give you their business, is NOT appreciated. The customer service there sucks. Will never go there again. And I called into their customer service at two different numbers and no one answers the phone - it's like: haven't you heard of an answering machine? I called 5 times between 10am-12 noon and no answer. And you can buy their "stuff" that they sell anywhere. Same old. Same old. Go to Canadian Tire or the Bay instead if you are in this area.
