The store isn't overwhelming to navigate through considering how much stuff is there. I believe the items are all reasonably priced, but regardless it does feel goof to support a local business and local creators. I don't think I ever left empty handed, there's such a variety of items to choose from. If you're in the Ghent area I highly recommend stopping by, especially if you're shopping for the holidays!

You arrive five minutes before class start time which is when they unlock the doors. You then spend about 5 to 10 minutes getting your wheel and work station set up. Cleanup usually take 20-30 minutes if it was a day you were throwing. My instructor was Avery and she was very beginner friendly and attentive. If you happen to miss a class it's very easy to reschedule with your instructor and attend either an open studio session or another instructors class on a different day. The 6 week class also includes 2 open studio sessions which I used as the final step to glaze my pieces before firing. They have membership options for those who are experienced and sessions everyday of the week. Overall had so much fun and it was interesting seeing the entire process and was rewarding to finally have the finished pieces after 6 weeks. I will definetly encourage my friends to try it out and might try another session in the future. Shoutout to Lydia who runs the open studio Saturdays. She is very knowledgeable and kind and even helped me pick out colors for glazing.

She explains it easy for us beginners to understand. Then she helps each of us to somehow achieve what we imagine. She appreciates all efforts and makes us believe in our art work. She is non judgmental so we want to make our own idea into a product. We even get to clean our own wheel and area like a "real potter". Went in for something specific that was in stock and went to pay and the self-check machine would…read morenot take my credit card. It's not a prepay card, it's a regular card through my bank. Tried again and nothing. It wasn't declined, just said not accepted. So I asked an associate and they said, "yes, we take credit cards." So I tried again and nothing. So I got back in line, but this time with an associate. She rang it up, asked for credit card and then asked for my pin. I told her this credit card doesn't have a pin because I don't use it as debit, I use it as a credit card. She said, " well, it will only work with a pin." I asked why she told me they accepted credit cards when they don't and she replied that they do accept credit cards. Very frustrating since I use this same card every where else and it's fine. When I came back a few minutes later with cash, the associate was talking negatively about me and making fun. It seems some employees just come to work for a paycheck nowadays and have no idea about the ins and outs of their job. Not only that, but the associate and representative of Michael's had zero tact and a lot to learn about growing up. DO BETTER MICHAEL'S... with signage (if something is or isn't accepted)... and with the hiring process (be weary of the rude and childish employees-they make you look bad). I love the owner, Barbara. She's like Ms. Olde Towne--in the know about anything and everything going on there and kind of a cheerleader for the revitalization there.
