Potts N Paints offers 2 locations - VB and Chesapeake. This location is convenienty located in a strip shopping center near Lynnhaven Mall with ample parking. The space is huge with lots of private tables. They have a huge selection of pottery with prices ranging based on size and a ton of tools to use - not just the standard brushes. On this visit though, my daughter wanted to splatter paint. There is a separate room for getting - literally - as messy as you want. A blank canvas welcomes creativity! Once suited up with a poncho, goggles and shoe covers, it's a free for all. You can even slingshot paint-soaked sponges! The even have a bicycle-powered splatter table to make cool centrifuge designs. It's a great spot to let the imagination run wild. It's a little pricey at $50/canvas but it made for great memories for my little girl. And she has a long-lasting memento to hang on her wall. Staff was so kind and helpful during our visit, offering instruction and guidance when needed. It's also a great place to consider hosting a birthday party, girls outing, team building event, etc. This is a fun place to spend an hour or two!

This is on North Mall Drive next to Lynnhaven Mall. Quickly becoming my favorite place to come…read more #1 Service is super helpful and friendly. Marissa is so wonderful about explaining everything. There are endless options of projects to make. You do not need to be creative or an artist or have any kinds of skill. You just need to be willing to make something. OUR group was all skill levels from no skill to totally skilled. We all had a blast. This is not your typical ceramic pots and paint anymore. It is AWESOME!!! Things they offer. *Pottery-- they offer a huge wall of various bisque and everything that you can think of including glazes, open paint bar, stamps, stencils and paint pens. They also fire the pieces after you glaze them. So you paint them and leave them to get fired and then you pick them up after the items are ready. *Canvas--You can pick any size and pick whatever design you want to paint. They have predrawn canvases available, Or you can schedule a class. They have an open paint bar. *Clay--They have all kinds of tools to work with clay for hand-building. They also offer Pottery Wheel sessions. *Glass fusing art--They have a wonderful assortment of colors and types of glass to make a completed glass fused project. *Mosaics--they have a pretty good selection of tile and colors and wood shapes to complete a project. The best part about POTTS N PAINTS is that you have endless options of things to choose from. One person can choose glass fusing art and another person can choose to paint a ceramic plate . You are not stuck making all the same thing. Like I said you have endless options. This is my new favorite place to hang out. Don't worry about getting messy. They have a wall of aprons to cover up your clothes. You can bring any drinks that you want even alcoholic drinks. For my husband I took him a beer because it was his birthday. And everyone needs a birthday beer(LOL) We opted to just walk in and make different projects but you can book parties and join classes. If you have questions like I did you can call or just walk in and find out how it all works. I'm totally in love with this place not only for all the super cool projects but because of the amazingly friendly and helpful staff. And they were playing really good music too.

Something unique to do at the beach…read more Just as any other place like this you pay for time, the piece and here extra paints (.50, which is to discourage paint waste) the fees are standard and help cover the staff helping with keeping studio clean and the kiln. Free Wi Fi for dads while kids design masterpieces. Anyway besides the prices the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The smells from next door are a nice bonus too!

When I got in, a young girl explained prices and procedures, $8 dollars for "studio time" for painting, and then the additional cost of the ceramic pottery. When I got my pieces and sat down, I was told I could only pick 5 colors from their selection for my decorative plate and 5 for my nephew for his piece, each additional color was another charge. I think it was .50-.75 per extra paint. Bogus. Whatever, my nephew and I painted. It ended up being about a $70 activity which was surprising because at Plaster Fun Time with $70 I could probably paint a quarter of the store. Just over priced. Especially asking people to pay for "studio time". This studio time should be included in the price of the pieces. You have to pay for the time, the pieces, the paint, I'm surprised they don't charge you for the brushes or water. I won't be coming here again :)

As soon as you walk in, you will see several shelving units of many ceramic projects of all different themes and sizes on the left, with tables in the middle and right side and cash out desk in the back corner. If you walk down the passage a little bit, it'll lead you to the paint area. I didn't walk all the way back, but I am assuming that leads to the party rooms as several people were led back there during our visit. The kids picked their projects and then one of their staff members, led them to the paint bar and explained the different kinds of paints and gave them some tips on how to use the paint and tools. Things to note: - You pay a studio fee plus the cost of the item (most things have price tags on the bottom of the item) - they claim to be the only open paint bar in the area. They let you use as much paint as you want, so be mindful and don't be wasteful - they have some options for drinks and snacks, although very limited, but I guess this can come in handy if you end up being there for awhile and get carried away with painting (drinks and snacks were very inexpensive) - you must go back at a later date to pick up the projects, so they can fire them up and glaze them. - they also have non-ceramic items for you to paint like canvas and wood The turnaround was very quick! Not sure if it was a slower time or if it's because we didn't have that many people in our party, but the items were ready in just a few days! I was so surprised when they called. Underpromise and overdeliver is always a smart business practice. Great place to pass the time and "make" something of your own. Stay safe, Friends!

One of our favorite little shops in Elizabeth City to enjoy as a family…read more I love that they allow food and drinks inside because we tend to sit there for at least 2-3 hours while painting. Best thing they do is allow you to come back and finish a piece so there is never a rush. They have a puppy (I say puppy but she's an older dog) that frequents the shop, I do believe the owners husband owns the leather shop next door and they have the door open to it sometimes. I'd pop in there from time to time to see the beautiful work he does. Back to Lily Pad, their prices go from $-$$$ so expect a range and if you're on a budget make sure to establish yours before entering because you'll end up like me and spend $$$ each time on just yourself. They offer homeschool classes, spring and summer break camps, and other events as well. We've attended a few and they're always fun. There has only been one time where I had a bit of a negative experience and it was because my item that I spent a few hours on had exploded in their kiln. They did offer for me to come in and paint a new one but due to time constraints by the time I was able to come in the item I originally painted which was a Halloween decor item no longer fit my decor and since it was spring I asked if I could change it. I was not allowed to change for an equal or lesser priced item sadly. We moved on, painted the original piece. No issue just wish I could have switched it. Still cute though. Overall, the young ladies she has working there are sweet and helpful and it's a nice spot to relax with family for some fun. They also offer military discounts.

We were killing time in the mall before the haunted place downstairs opened. My curiosity grew strong, as I was mesmerized by the colors and weirdness of it. I had to know what this was. It probed me to ask more questions with the urgency to seek answers. The gentleman informed me that it is an immersive art experience. I am a sucker for some immersive art. The seller for me was him being so straight faced and his dedicated commitment to convincing me that he was possibly a resident or may have had a friend that was from Garbage Town. It was either going to be $10 of très cool or a $10 regret. You will be advised to read the signs, which we did and you should too if you choose this mission to visit Garbage Town. Trust me, it will enhance the experience and make everything more clear. It is a macabre satire of the world's wasteful attitude. The world's inadequate collection of trash and improper disposal is portrayed in the installations. It forces one to open their eyes because the sizable amount of trash you're meandering through is right in front of you, not hidden out of sight. Garbage Town is where the rejected and excluded reside, a place where the "no longer wanted " inhabit. It brings to light the social injustices and issues that arise from this "throw away" mentality. There were installations that were quite humorous, but sad at the same time because there is truth to it. Garbage Town is a thought provoking experience that is impactful, if even for a moment for some. At the conclusion, you're left to decide whether you will choose to side with the sheep or the goat. The sheep and the goat are purposefully and respectively placed with the sheep on the right and the goat on the left. The sheep brightly lit, the goat placed in the dark among a red stained wall. It is a parable biblical reference to separate the sheep from the goats. In a sarcastic and facetious undertone, there is a small sign stating "it's not that serious -it's only your future". The sheep and goat are symbolic. Choose the sheep, you choose compassion and eternal life, hence the sheep is white and a light is illuminating it. Choose the goat, and you choose eternal judgment because of your choice to be stubborn, evil, & destructive. It's a powerful statement. This experience is deeper than it looks! Perhaps the gentleman, who happens to be the lead of this project wasn't acting after all? Maybe we are all part of the Garbage Town community, but we have not realized it? You might want to pause for some self reflection. Final take, it's a $10 experience that is in actuality, invaluable.
