It is located in the downtown Carthage, MO area along Route 66. It is a small specialty dog shop. I have a big dog and so I was hoping as the name implied, it had items for big dogs. However, that was not true sadly. They do have many toys and treats for dogs of all sizes. The owner is super nice and was very welcoming to my dog and I. I bought a few items for my dog, including dog beer! It was nice that there was a pet friendly dog shop in downtown where I could take my dog and treat him a bit. Recently we have been going to Petsmart because my dog passed a few months ago and we got a puppy…read morelast month. The staff have all been very friendly every time we go. I have also noticed that the store is much cleaner than what I have seen in the past. I'm taking into consideration that this is a pet store. The store seems much less cluttered than it was before. Being well organized helps any business and they are much better now than they were a year ago. The dog food is very inexpensive compared to other places in the area that I have price matched. The dog toys are considerably higher in cost than other local stores. I felt the need to up Petsmart from a two star to a four star because I feel they have improved greatly with both their customer service and organization. I plan on taking my puppy to their dog training classes as well as the pet care clinic that is associated with the store. After both the dog training classes and vet visits I will once again update my review and post my experience. We continue to use Petsmart even though we got the puppy at a competing store here in the Joplin area. I keep a close eye on several pet stores here and at this time choose Petsmart because of their friendly and helpful staff coupled with the lowest prices on food (not toys). I will update my reviews to the best of my ability as needed so my fellow Yelpers will know my experiences with Petsmart. As of now, they seem to be doing a lot of things right.
