We had the opportunity to visit Becky's Aquarium Works when we were in Joplin visiting a friend. I recently got into keeping saltwater fish and thought we would stop by since we were in the area. It's a small shop, but it has so much! Becky answered all my questions and taught me about many different facets of saltwater aquariums, based off my own experience and knowledge, and helped me identify what my next steps are based on where my aquarium is currently. I took home a beautiful Royal Gramma, some filter media, and some frozen brine shrimp. I rearranged my rocks while I acclimated the new fish and now all the fish are loving the new setup and food. The prices there are competitive, but you can't beat the personalized help and knowledge! I will definitely be back!

Their 'excuse' started with: "We don't have a public bathroom" I pressed that I was about to have an accident and needed a restroom, and that I was a paying customer, not 'the public'. Their response? "Our bathrooms are not ADA compliant". As IF I needed ADA compliance, I certainly was not in a wheelchair or other needs for access. In fact, I was looking right at their bathroom as this conversation transpired. If you aren't going to allow bathroom use to your customer, I won't spend my money there. It's just this thing called customer service Went thru this in Tucson, with all the drug addicts and homeless. Tucson started securing bathrooms. Kind of ridiculous here if you ask me. You can do a payment plan, but you are definitely spending too much. They do however take care of a lot of the medical needs of the puppies so that is a plus. Recently we have been going to Petsmart because my dog passed a few months ago and we got a puppy…read morelast month. The staff have all been very friendly every time we go. I have also noticed that the store is much cleaner than what I have seen in the past. I'm taking into consideration that this is a pet store. The store seems much less cluttered than it was before. Being well organized helps any business and they are much better now than they were a year ago. The dog food is very inexpensive compared to other places in the area that I have price matched. The dog toys are considerably higher in cost than other local stores. I felt the need to up Petsmart from a two star to a four star because I feel they have improved greatly with both their customer service and organization. I plan on taking my puppy to their dog training classes as well as the pet care clinic that is associated with the store. After both the dog training classes and vet visits I will once again update my review and post my experience. We continue to use Petsmart even though we got the puppy at a competing store here in the Joplin area. I keep a close eye on several pet stores here and at this time choose Petsmart because of their friendly and helpful staff coupled with the lowest prices on food (not toys). I will update my reviews to the best of my ability as needed so my fellow Yelpers will know my experiences with Petsmart. As of now, they seem to be doing a lot of things right.

The woman that "groomed" our dogs absolutely butchered them. She made us wait 6 hours and when my…read morewife showed up to pick them up one of our dogs had all of her beautiful fur shaved completely off except for her tail and her head making her look even more ridiculous than if that had just shaved her completely. Our other dog that didn't get shaved looked like someone closed their eyes and took some shears to her fur at random. One last point, our dog that had a nice thick coat of fur to keep her warm as of this morning is now bald and it's December 18th and she is in for a very cold bald winter. Spare yourself and your dog and go anywhere else. My 5 year old son could have done a better job.

He was in a dangerous area where he could be hit at any moment. thats why this was so serious! it blows my mind how you can be the owner of a pet store and have absolutely zero compassion for animals.
