Twelve Wings
Paige K.

Wow we were pleasantly impressed with this place. It's just off the corner near the movie theater and we had some time to kill so we stopped in for a snack/drink. I had Prosecco, pretty standard but good price. My husband had a couple beers. We ordered a dozen wings, half jerk and half honey sriracha. The honey sriracha were the Star. Nicely sauced, crispy and delicious. Honestly some of our favorite wings we've had in the city! And we've had a lot... the jerk was alright so would prob try another flavor next time but would def come back.

Cool Irish pub with a good vibe. Perfect spot to go to after eating pizza next door. The bartenders were phenomenal. Drinks were perfectly made. I highly recommend "Becks Old Fashioned" and "Blackberry Smoke"

Stopped in here while waiting for our reservation at Pequod's. They have lots of different beer options and a decent assortment of liquors. They also have a Chicago handshake on the menu if you want to make your Chicago trip complete. I would categorize it as a drive bar. The friendly staff and strong drinks that come with your usual dive bar are on point at Beck's too.

Buffalo wings

I ordered some wings and cheese curds to go from Becks. The guy that took my phone order took my order and made sure my food was ready for pick up when promised. The two guys that were working the bar when I picked up my food were great. They were very friendly and greeted me with smiles. The wings are priced fairly as well. I ordered 20 wings for $28. I was able to get half Buffalo and half Honey Sriracha. The Buffalo wings were great. And tasted even better with bleu cheese but, wasn't a big fan of their honey sriracha. I don't know what it is, but this is the second time that I've ordered something with sriracha, and being let down. I was expecting a nice Asian sweet and spicy bite but sriracha sauce was completely missing. It wasn't a complete let down, as the honey sauce did taste good, I was just hoping for something spicier. The curds were also pretty good. You don't get that many for $9 but they were pretty big bites. Overall I was left satisfied. I've read so many reviews about people coming here while they wait for a table next door. I'm pretty sure they don't mind that extra business they're getting from waiters from next door, Becks should warrant its own visit for food as well. It's definitely worth it.

Crispy Buffalo Chicken Wrap

Have come a few times and have always had a great experience from friendly staff to the food! Whole It's a sports bar we've sat in the middle and have never felt it's been too kid. They also have a nice patio I can't wait to go to this summer! I always get the Buffalo chicken wrap and we get cheese curds.

Twenty Wings (Buffalo Garlic + Parmesan Garlic), Becks Burger + Fries

It's a bar, but the food is above average bar food! We've now come only two times, but both experiences were great. The bartender is friendly and very attentive, especially since he's also the server to the tables. I only eat chicken wings if the skin is crispy. The chicken wings at Beck's are not only crispy but flavorful! We like the Buffalo garlic and Parmesan garlic. Brussels and cauliflower was sweet, and cheese curds were nicely done. I didn't try the Beck's burger, but my bf seemed to enjoy it. FYI- We've ordered the wings for delivery once (we're only 6 mins drive away), and it doesn't arrive as crispy, so we'll be sticking with dine in!

Fried Chicken Sandwich Sweet Potato Waffle Fries

The waffle fries were incredible, the serving size was a little underwhelming tho for the extra $3 you pay to get them. Solid chicken sandwich too!

Hot cider bourbon

Great service, delicious beverages and wings! We are waiting for our pizza next-door..but we would have been fine just staying here. We got a little too comfortable with the delicious drinks and service. We definitely purchased a hat as a souvenir. It's great to support a local business that way and have something to remember from our trip. Definitely try the wings. I think its a must.

The bartenders are awesome! Amazing cheese curds too, plenty of seating even on a Friday night for a large group.

I scanned the QR code and went to the bathroom. As I walked back there, I noticed there were 4 open spots at the bar and there were 6 2-top tables set up, which was confusing because there was a 45 minutes wait. Walking back from the bathroom I thought I would ask the bartender if the seating at the bar was also reserved by through the waitlist. I walked up ( did not attempt to sit down as that part of the bar was not clean) and the bartender started rudely saying "have you spoken to the host " I said yes but I had a question, and she continuously said " you have to speak to the host." I told her that I just had a question for her then she rudely said again "sometimes we use this as seating so-rry." My partner and I decided to leave after that. I had never been treated that way in my life. I open my mouth to say something and I couldn't because I was rudely interrupted. I felt like I was hurried out of the area. After being here countless times before and exploring the menu with friends and family, I don't think I will ever come back as this left a bad taste in my mouth. It's hard to go back when you feel you were discriminated against. My partner and I felt like we were that night as the attitudes and behaviors from the bartender and hostess were rude.

After leaving the symphony, we wanted somewhere nearby to grab a meal and have a good conversation, so we ended up at Miller's Pub at 134 S. Wabash. My colleague had made a reservation, but honestly, it didn't seem necessary, you can easily walk in. Miller's Pub is a longtime Chicago staple, and we were seated quickly. The space is much larger than it appears, with a classic Irish pub feel and an antique charm that gives it a lot of character. Our server was enthusiastic, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the night, which we appreciated. Food-wise, we ordered a variety of dishes. I kept it simple with a salad topped with carrots and chicken, it was just okay, nothing particularly memorable. One of my colleagues ordered a chicken sandwich, and another got what might have been the most massive fish tender I've ever seen. If I ate fish, I definitely would've tried it, and she said it was really good. Unfortunately, what really impacted our experience was the atmosphere. There was a choir conference happening nearby, and a large group of attendees came into the pub and started singing, loudly and continuously, throughout the evening. While it was entertaining for the first couple of songs, it quickly became overwhelming and disruptive. It didn't seem like other patrons were enjoying it either, there was little to no engagement or applause, and I found myself wishing the staff had stepped in to tone things down a bit. I understand that a bar environment can bring in all kinds of energy, but this went on far too long and really took away from the experience we were hoping to have. Based on the food alone, I'd give Miller's Pub 3 out of 5 stars. But factoring in the overall experience, it's closer to a 2.5 out of 5 for me.

I had been wanting to try Industry Ales when it opened and was glad to have had the opportunity to finally check it out! I was slightly thrown off, as the dining tables are at the front of this space, and the bar is all the way at the back. In fact, my friend at first glance thought it was a sit-down dining establishment sans bar seating. We found our way to the bar and posted up at two seats. We were offered menus right away and found the bartender extremely knowledgeable. This was super helpful when facing down an encyclopedia of ales. He offered samples when we explained what we were looking for. That is service above and beyond, especially on a bustling Friday early evening. The brews were tasty, but I couldn't really discern what I was drinking apart to say it was a lighter Belgian Ale. Wine is more in my wheelhouse, but always good to change things up, especially when a person has the opportunity to be guided by an expert. The people seated nearby had ordered the tuna tartare which looked delicious. In fact, all of the menu is globally influenced (think: pizza samosas, pierogis, Korean BBQ) in addition to the classic brewpub favorites. In addition to the Brewpub, this location features the Millroom, a speakeasy-style lounge. I did not have a chance to check that out on this visit. Definitely a cut above the usual sports bar and a place to expand one's knowledge of brews.

Whiskey fans, you'll love the huge selection along with the impressive beer selection. Yelp should really hype this as a whiskey bar, too. It more than qualifies. The cuisine is phenomenal. Definitely a place to bring a large party on your first visit, so you can sample a multitude of wonderful creations. Pro Tip: if you can tolerate a large quantity of fish, visit on a Wednesday for their AYCE Fish & Chips. I've had many hum drum AYCE dinners that are drab and only fill you up. Not this one. It's a great meal and a great deal. The Shepherd's Pie was fabulous, as was the Bangers and Mash. They've created a Haggis Burger that has to appease Americans, yet, still be haggis.
