The only downside is her limited availability but she's definitely worth the wait. Today's visit went smooth!! I completed the standard paperwork, and once called back I was given the option of having my eyes dilated or doing a photo scan instead. The assistant was friendly and knowledgeable...she even complimented my beautiful eyelashes because they kept getting in the way during the photo scan, which made me laugh and added a nice personal touch to the visit. I highly recommend coming here to get your vision checked. Personally i feel the eyewear selection is limited, so I end up purchasing my glasses elsewhere. It may just be me being picky since I am a creature of habit and have worn a specific pair of Ray Ban glasses they don't carry. Overall, a great experience!!!!

The replacement frame did not last a year under less than normal conditions and this particular frame was discontinued (maybe because it was defective). I went back to the "Your Eyes" Office, not looking for a refund, but looking for some middle ground, considering I have an older pair of frames that lasted ten years and are actually still in good condition and I have the expectation that frames should last 5 years. Not only was I told they would do nothing to help me, I left the store being embarrassed by the Manager in front of all the people that were in the store. I might add that I was a customer that had already purchased 4 pair of glasses from "Your Eyes". They in no way made me feel like I was a valued customer. I will never go back.

I had my exam done here a few months ago, waited on glasses as I just purchased some elsewhere, my luck changed lost both pairs I had and needed to get some. I walked in and met Courtney, amazing personality, super friendly!! Explained my little dilemma we both laughed. She helped me pick some frames, which I appreciated cause I suck at it. The other guy there too also chimed in so I'm confident I got the right pair.. (ended up getting 2 pairs, plus sunglasses due to the amazing sale). Who can argue with 40% off extra pairs. She clearly recommended the insurance after she heard how I lost my pairs, I laughed then took the insurance cause my spouse would kill me if I lost more pairs.... Went to see Karen at The eyeglass Place in Newington. I needed to update the Rx on my shooting…read moreglasses. Although I had originally purchased them online a few years ago, I decided that I wanted to work with someone local, especially an optician who was familiar with shooters. Karen was GREAT. She took the time to dial in the Rx for both pistol shooting and for skeet/trap shooting. I was even able to bring in my pistol to fine-tune the distance (emptied and safety-checked, of course!) We created interchangeable lenses for the two different disciplines. (I have interchangeable lenses for my dominant right eye: one optimized for pistol shooting, focusing on the front sight, and another optimized for distance while shooting clays. The left eye is optimized for distance in both cases.) And I also got separate lens sets for low/flat light and for bright light conditions. Even better, she was able to use my existing frames (Ranger Edge, https://www.reranger.com/products/edge?variant=32703827607691). I used them for the first time a few nights ago at a pistol class. What a HUGE difference! I actually won the shooting competition that night! I HIGHLY recommend Karen and The Eyeglass Place in Newington, not only for your general eyeglasses but especially if you're a shooter and you want to work with someone who "gets it!"

Then late last year I brought in two sets of frames I purchased online to have them lens them for me (they were in a style no one was carrying). They took one look at them, tried to remove the clear lenses they shipped with, told me they wouldn't come out and they feared they might damage the frames so they couldn't help with them. I took them home and thought I'd see if I could remove the lenses - they all popped out hassle-free with zero damage. Excited, I called them and explained and they asked me to send them pics - I took the pics and sent them over while they waited. In under a minute they told me they still couldn't help me because the frames were low quality (I bought them on Amazon). I was uneasy about their replies so I went for a 2nd opinion - I stopped in at Harvey & Lewis at Hartford Hospital - I had used them years earlier when I was a high wage earner and needed a lower priced dealer. They took a look at both frames while I explained their lineage. In 5 mins they were fitting me for lenses in both pair. 2 weeks later I was wearing both pair. The story doesn't end there. Fast forward: I called Eyeglass Place to get my eye exam so I could get a new (extra) set of frames with the usual lensing. The day before the exam I rank to an issue and needed to reschedule which they did, somewhat begrudgingly. 2 weeks later, & 2 days before the rescheduled exam my ride had to work so I called again to move it out another week or so. The gal on the phone informed me that this was my 2nd reschedule and that it happened again I'd lose the privilege of booking in advance ever again and would have call in each day to see if they could see me that day. She left me feeling emasculated, like a child being scolded by his mother, so I acted accordingly. I went back to Harvey & Lewis, scheduled an exam and again, my ride got called into work so I rescheduled. While rescheduling, I asked them if there would be any kind penalty if additional rescheduling was required on my part.. The gal on the phone (Madeline) basically told me that life always has unforeseeable issues and that I could reschedule a half dozen times if that was what it took until it was right for me - they'd gladly still be there for me. My buddy (my ride and also a customer at Eyeglass Place, was also involved in this process and as of now, neither of us will be returning to Eyeglass Place. Clearly sometimes you really do get what you pay for. So, as a cautionary tale, if you're planning on going to Eyeglass Place Newington, please note that she's a jealous mistress, if you're not100% loyal to them, be prepared for your treatment will be meted-out proportionate to the extent of your "transgression."

When I arrived the front desk ladies were so kind and patient! Getting ahold of my insurer took a little longer than expected and they were really great about communicating with me. My daughter decided she didn't like the frames on her, so she asked if I would like to replace her prescription with mine. I decided to go and ask Plainville Optical if I could put my prescription into her frames and was told I could. So I asked very specifically that due to an issue with my eyes I only needed the bottom for reading and didn't want the top prescription. I told her that although the distance won't be as sharp without the prescription, it was easier to have the top lens clear. The girl at the counter asked me my daughter's name and when I told her she acknowledged recognizing her, as my daughter has purchased a few pair there. I asked for the price because even though the frames were free I didn't want to spend a lot on extra pair. The girl said $131 so I decided go ahead and purchase them and used up my HSA and charged the difference on my credit card. A week later Plainville Optical called to say my glasses where ready. To my disbelief, the glasses were entirely readers! The man that made the lenses in their office said he thought to question the prescription, due to the prescription already in the frames, and my prescription request that I needed to have clear vision to see distance, but he didn't question anything and made them entirely readers. The man that made the glasses said that what I asked for would be considered transition glasses, even though no prescription on top. The girl that took my order, sat and said it was a communication error and that it would be more MONEY! I asked how much more and she calculated about $170 extra! I was upset as she knows I was very clear and it was their error, not to mention they made the lenses in their own store, so all that money is their profit! If I had known the cost up front I would never have bothered using these frames at all. I threw the glasses into my purse and walked out disgusted that NOW I HAVE A USELESS PAIR OF READERS, WHEN MY JOB REQUIRES THAT I READ MAIL AND DRIVE TO DELIVER IT.
