Have had two appointments with Dr. Nicole Colasurdo. I was well overdue for an eye exam. Nicole is very thorough, and explained all the different eye tests and diagnostics. I felt relaxed and all my questions were answered in a easy to understand manner. I would highly recommend this practice. Let me start out by saying that these other reviews about Dr. Pegolo on other websites HAVE to be fake. After my husband's experience with this doctor, I can't imagine anyone ever giving him a good review. My 1/5 star review is based solely on Dr. Pegolo. I would give Dr. Markowski a 5/5 review in a heartbeat. Also, I've talked to probably 4 people in the front office and only one of them has been rude. The other 3 have been extremely helpful and courteous. My husband and I were looking for a new eye doctor that was accepted by our insurance in the West Hartford area. We chose this practice because of their excellent reviews. Apparently that was a huge mistake. My visit was with Dr. Markowski and she was fantastic. I went in for an eye exam and I was in and out within 20 minutes. Everyone was really sweet and accommodating. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes at any point. I went back 2 weeks later for her to check my contacts, and again, I was in and out. I would completely 100% recommend her. My husband's visit with Dr. Pegolo was completely different. To start, it was at 10AM and my husband told the doctor he had to work when he got home. He's a computer engineer. So what does the doctor do? He dilated his eyes without telling him first, then he sent him to sit in the waiting room for a half hour for it to "take effect". After that, the doctor brings him in and looks at his eyes. At this point, my husband can't see a single thing. The doctor messes around a bit and gives him a pair of contacts to try, but my husband still couldn't see anything so he was told to wait a bit more. After an hour and a half, he finally comes home and he still can barely see from having his pupils dilated. His pupils stayed INCREDIBLY dilated until 4PM, which would have been okay if Dr. Pegolo had actually warned him before dilating him and he was able to do it at a later appointment time. He had to miss the entire day of work because he couldn't even read his computer screen. After that visit, he was told to come back in a week. He tried to wear the contacts the doctor had given him but kept getting really bad headaches and bad eye strain. So he goes back only to discover that the prescription Dr. Pegolo had given him is 100% wrong (when all along they had his previous year's prescription that was working well for him). It was the wrong strength, wrong cylinders in both eyes, and he has astigmatism in both eyes but the doctor only gave him astigmatism contacts for one eye. So the doctor gives him new contacts to try again, then sticks him in the waiting room for another half hour to let the contacts "set". He checks them again, everything seems fine and he sends him on his way. At the checkout, my husband tries to get his prescription. The woman behind the counter is on some kind of power trip and says "well is the prescription READY yet?" in a condescending tone, talking down to him like he's a 5 year old. So the doctor tells him to call back next week and let him know if the contacts are okay. The doctor also told him he has "suspect glaucoma", which no doctor has ever told him in his life. He sets up an appointment in 3 months to check his eyes again. When he gets home, I realize they'll probably dilate his eyes again in 3 months to check the glaucoma issue. When I call to change the appointment from another 10am appointment to a late afternoon appointment, the woman on the phone tells me they're not rechecking him for glaucoma. They're doing a "visual field exam". Didn't he just do a visual field exam?! So we have no idea what that appointment is about, but we're canceling it anyway because my husband would rather be blind than see this doctor ever again. Fast forward ANOTHER week. I go there to pick up his prescription. Well the doctor never finalized it, and they were trying to give me his original prescription that was 100% wrong. After going back and forth for about 10 minutes, they finally understood that he does have astigmatism in both eyes (duh, look at his prescriptions for the last 10 years!!!) and they print out both his glasses and contacts prescription. Well, those prescriptions aren't even CLOSE to matching. They have different powers (they actually got the right eye and left eye flipped apparently), different axis (also flipped the eyes) and different cylinders. And I look up the new contacts that the doctor wanted him to get...they're OVER 800 DOLLARS for a year supply. Are you kidding me?! So now my husband is losing his mind because he's so annoyed, I'm STILL trying to get the right prescriptions from them to buy these stupid contacts that probably won't even end up correct, and they've already charged my insurance so we can't even go get a second opinion and see a real doctor. TL;DR: STAY FAR AWAY!!!!! Update: The prescription was wrong AGAIN. They gave him the same script he had 3 years ago. Seriously, stay away. read more
