Wow I am impressed! I had a pool company that had a change of ownership and eventually they forgot to come and service my pool which made my green. I waited 3 weeks to post this review just to make sure I still wanted to do it... I had beck Pools for about a year and a half. Service was great for the first year. Ever since June of 2017 it has been so severely lacking that my pool was always cloudy and covered in algae. Sucks to not be able to swim in 110 degrees in the summer... because your pool looks like shit and you don't know if it's safe to swim in or not... but you're paying every month for a professional to keep it looking nice and clean?! The guy that Ted sub contracted to work under his business name and take over some of his customers never came on the days he was scheduled to, always left my gates unlocked, and towards the very end (before I fired them and found a new pool serviced) began just... not showing up at all. When I let ted know of my concerns he basically said that his other customer's pools were more important and that they just didn't have time to get to me. Thanks for the heads up? Oh wait you never gave me a heads up. I had to contact you... Then, ted installed a new pool filler a few months ago at my house. Well, it stopped working and I woke up to my pool overflowing (on a week that his employee never showed up for service - go figure). I contacted Ted, he said he would check it out and try to fix it. Please keep in mind that Ted purchased the pool filler AND installed it. Well, ted never showed up, said he had diarrhea - um okay... and then when I asked him again about it he said that it's not his responsibility, he said all he does is install it and whether it works or not isn't his problem it's a manufacturer problem. Nice accountability Ted. Real nice. So, I asked ted for the receipt so that I could contact the manufacturer since said part is only a few months old... it's gotta have either a warranty (since it wasn't cheap!!!) or a help desk to call for support... well ted didn't want to give me the receipt - I'm assuming because he charged me way more than what he paid for it? Lol who even cares. But anyway he refused to give me the receipt or info so I could contact the manufacturer, refused to even try and look at it, and said he would just take it back and make me buy one on my own and deal with it. Nice ted, real nice. I'm disappointed in Beck Pools now. I was happy in the beginning but now... I'm not pleased. I hired someone else... he had to completely clean out the filter and vacuum the pool because my entire pool was completely covered in algae and you couldn't even see through the water it was so cloudy - that's how well Beck Pools serviced my pool. In my opinion, he has taken on far too many customers and can't give everyone the quality they deserve now. The new guy he hired, who never showed up at my house as scheduled, left my gates open, Never cleaned my filter, and simply never showed up at on two occasions and never told me - I had to catch him - is awful. I wanted to change out my pool pump before the end of the year to be eligible for the LADWP rebate. I was going to contact the company who installed the previous one, but for the rebate they have very specific requirements, such as being installed by an aquatic engineer. So when I googled that term looking for one nearby, Beck Pools came up then once I read all the glowing 5 star reviews, I decided to just call them instead. I'm so glad I did, those reviews were well earned. Ted got back to me immediately answered all my questions and set up an appointment for the same week. He's very knowledgeable and told me all sorts of interesting things about my pool. He's very familiar with all the rebate requirements and quickly gave me all the documentation necessary to file for my rebate. He worked quickly was very pleasant and professional. He restored faith in me and beauty in my pool. A pool that was once crystal blue, was covered in algae when he first arrived. He also did a great job getting me what I needed to seek a rebate, he was responsive throughout the experience, and was also very nice to deal with (not vaguely snotty or passive aggressive as other vendors sometimes are because I'm female and look young) and a good communicator. I wish the yelp rating would go to 10 stars. It's so rare in this day and age that you can you can enlist a service from someone where there is no BS, who is professional, honest and has integrity. From our first phone conversation Ted was informative and professional. He was prompt coming out to give me an estimate, and within 3 days came to install a new variable speed pump. What really impressed me was that Ted ran into some unexpected issues with my very old copper pipes, and in spite spending much more time time and using more parts, Ted still stuck by his original estimate. You've read the other reviews. Why haven't you contacted Ted yet? He is the best; here is my story. In march when my heater started leaking, I Yelp messaged Beck Pools because of all the strong reviews. Ted responded promptly to the message and was very patient in answering all of my questions. I decided to use Ted to replace my heater. He came to the house when scheduled and answered my questions again, including my concerns about a gas line that was in the soil. We formed a plan to move the heater a bit to where I wanted it onto a new pad, run new gas, and remove the old pad. Ted offered me a fair price and arranged for everything to arrive on the day of the scheduled work. He arrived on time and completed the work as discussed in a few hours. It looks and works great; I wish I had used Ted when I replaced my pump and filter 2 years ago. Why am I writing my review now? I recently started having problems with air in my intake. After trouble-shooting the best I could I decided to message Ted first. He responded promptly again, even though it is the Sunday before Memorial day. Again, I have a lot of questions, and Ted answered them all. He didn't try and pressure me to any course of action and in the end I am pursuing an option that doesn't make Ted money.
