Had a great experience with Beck Pools from the very beginning, getting quotes via Yelp. Ted, the owner, was incredibly responsive and even engaged in a little bit of simple troubleshooting so we could make sure there wasn't an easy (and cheap) fix we could do on our own. Sadly, we needed our Salt Cell replaced and he was able to send Luis out quite quickly. Luis arrived during the time promised and completed the job. He did leave one of the screws off and one of the breakers off when he left, so our pool control box wasn't working at first, but once we figured that out, everything has been fine! The price was more than reasonable and, while I hope we don't need any more repairs, when we are ready to upgrade our Jandy to something from the 21st century, we're definitely going with Ted and Beck Pools. read more

I first called Beck Pools in May about possibly replacing one of my existing pool motors as well as weekly pool service. Unfortunately, I learned that we fall outside of their area for weekly service, but Ted came by nonetheless to discuss options re: the motor and, despite knowing we were not a candidate for weekly service, spent quite a bit of time with me going over what my existing service was providing/charging & giving advice about what was reasonable to expect in a new company. I decided to try and squeeze a little more life out of the existing motor, but Ted's expertise and professionalism made an impression on me. Cut to a few weeks ago when the motor finally shuffled off this mortal coil(!) My first call was to Ted who got right back to me despite I'm sure being swamped with rainstorm-related work. He still had his notes from May (of course, he did) and gave me a very reasonable quote on a new pump to be installed a few days later. Scheduling was a breeze (thanks, Melody!) and after a brief rail-related delay Jose came by - still in the rain! - and installed the motor. Because It was raining I only got the basics explained to me about how the motor works so I called Melody and asked if someone could come by the next time they were in the area to go over things in detail, NO RUSH. To my surprise she gave me times for Ted to come by himself to walk me through things. Based on my existing service - which charges for every little thing - I immediately assumed I would be charged for Ted's time (which is why I asked for "the next time you're in the neighborhood") and told her this wouldn't be necessary. Again to my surprise she told me this was free of charge! When Ted arrived he was super-patient, taking me through all the motor functions and answering all my questions. We also tested out the spa, which has been giving me problems (no more). Then Ted noticed a bonding wire was missing and the tiny bit of new ducting used was white and didn't match the existing black ducting so he said he would schedule someone to come by to add the wire and paint the duct. The motor is behind my garage where no one can see it - I NEVER would have even thought to ask for this, much less ACTUALLY ask for it. But as Ted said about himself, "I'm a perfectionist." Bottom line: Beck Pools is great at what they do and a pleasure to deal with. They definitely subscribe to the philosophy that any job worth doing is worth doing well. In fact, one of my favorite expressions is: "You can have it good, fast or cheap. Pick any TWO." I may have to re-think that after working with Ted and his team. He responded here, which is such a testament to how he treats customers--he never had the courtesy to write me or call me after I gave an honest review of the situation here. The joys of owning a pool. Sure it's all fun and games in the Summer time when everyone is over swimming and having a good time. But being a pool owner, well not so much fun sometimes. Man the pool water is evaporating fast this Summer I thought. Keep adding water every week. This just goes on and on. I finally have an epiffany one day and realize I have a massive crack in the pool. Oh great, at least this will be really expensive. This crack was a good 5' to 6' long starting on the floor of the pool and ran up the side. Wonderful. We had a crack several years ago and had it fixed by a different pool contractor. He was just okay so I started researching pool repair companies. Called a few guys who were less that interested in my problem until I found Ted Beck. Ted is a real stand up guy. We were very happy with the work they did and we plan to use them again this spring when I have them replace the deco seal around the pool. And I will say one more thing. I can't stress this enough. Be very careful around your empty pool. I think people don't think about it that much. It's really dangerous. This was entirely my fault. I accidentally walked backwards into the shallow end of the empty pool trying to evade a large spider. Pretty stupid huh? As a pool owner who services their own pool, I was confronted with a pool filter issue I couldn't solve on my own. I replaced my old filter with a new & completely different one. The problem arose when I went to clean it. After removing the grids, etc. I could not get all the water to drain due to so much debris clogging the drain hole. It was at this point I contacted Beck pools for help. They scheduled a day to have a tech come. The tech showed up as scheduled and immediately ascertained the problem. Also, my pool is too complicated to keep as clean as I would like, according to him. This company does not communicate well with the customer, to let them know for weeks at a time that the 1x a week service tech will not be showing up for 2 to 3 weeks, and still expects to be paid in full. They assisted with the paperwork for the DWP for my refund. A few months after I sent all the paperwork in for my refund, the DWP asked for photos of the old pool pump still connected.
