I selected this vendor due solely to the overwhelmingly positive reviews that I read on Yelp. Sadly, I did not experience the same amazing experience that everyone else did, and I wanted to provide my experience in the event that most of these other reviews were fake. I placed an online order for Christmas Eve tamales. This vendor has a limited supply, so it is a first-come first-served and you have to pre-reserve your tamales approximately 5 days in advance. Due to the limited supply, the website reservation system sold out in about 15 minutes. I ordered 1 dozen pork, 1 dozen chicken, half-dozen jalapeno cream cheese, and half-dozen veggie. The vendor provided explicit instructions that pickup would occur between 1pm and 4pm on Christmas eve. Fast forward to the day of pickup .... i arrive after driving all the way out to the pickup location to find that nobody was there. I called the vendor and was notified that my tamales would not be ready until 6pm. If I had not called, I would have had no way of knowing that the pickup changed. This was a terrible lack of communication on their end. Being Christmas Eve, I gave them the benefit of the season and rearranged my day so that I could accommodate the vendor for a later pickup. At 6pm, there is a line around the pickup location that is very long. Evidently nobody's tamales were ready at the original agreed upon time. I am still trying to keep spirits high because it is Christmas Eve after all. After waiting for approximately 40 minutes, the vendor tells me that he decided not to make any veggie tamales and that he didn't have my full order. I asked him for a replacement because I needed a full 3 dozen tamales for Christmas, and he rudely says that he can't do that and would just refund me. I am livid at this point because I was basically told that my order was not important enough to make even though I went out of my way to accommodate his lack of preparation and timeliness without complaint. The vendor told me that he would issue a refund but no refund has been confirmed by my credit card to date. I was so incredibly disappointed by the poor customer service here, and I will not be returning. I cannot recommend this tamale vendor and would advise you to avoid relying on them if you actually need your tamales on time. read more

I just recently visited the St. Michael's Farmers Market and I had the pleasure of trying Becerra's Tamales. They are delicious! There were so many choices too. So far my favorites are the shrimp and crab, red hot pork, and jalepeno cream cheese. They are fresh, full of flavor, and filling (a great ratio of meat to masa.). Victor was extremely rude to me at the St. Michael's Farmers Market this morning. I've never tried his tamales or salsas. I had researched his food on his website so had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to purchase. I had my wallet out and asked about one of his salsas. He belittled me with his response like I was stupid with my question. He was very rude. I had not done anything disrespectful to him so I was stunned and could not react for a minute. I put my wallet up, got my cane and walked away. I really did not think I should have been treated this way and not a good way to start my day. never got to try their tamales. ordered 5 days in advance. got a call from Victor at 1pm day of pick up Christmas Eve, and said he would deliver them to my house by 6pm as they had system issues. 7pm nothing, 9pm, nothing. I called and texted and each time said he was on his way. finally 10:15pm he said he would bring them by noon the next day. I told him I had family coming at 10am next day, Christmas Day, and they were expecting tamales. So he said he would drop them off in 40 mins. 5 minutes later I got an automated text my order was cancelled. I called him and he said he cancelled because he could not guarantee a delivery time. Very disappointed in the lack of communication! I get things happen but at least let me know, don't leave a customer hanging clueless about their order. Delicious tamales. I think they have the correct ratio of filling to masa. My encounter with Victor was very positive. He knows what he is doing and pays attention to the details. We ordered several different varieties. My favorites were the spicy pork and cream cheese and jalapeno. Even masa was a bit spicy with spicy pork. I admire the vegan ones for those who follow a special diet. They were good but not my favorite, I missed the fat of cheese. I'd love to see an additional spicy mushroom/eggplant filling in the spicy masa. I think that might be a home run. His chili con carne was also fantastic. I called to ask about the price of thier Tamales. The guy on the phone was rude I called to ask how much they sale a dozen for. He said we dont sale them by the dozen. We sale them by half. I have searched for a LONG time to find a place that could make beef tamales like what I grew up with. I have finally found them with Becerra's Tamales. Deliciosos! I just had some vegetarian tamales from this stand today and loved them! I also got a frozen green chile chicken dozen to heat up for dinner some night this week. These tamales are as good as it gets, folks. Stuffed with delicious high quality ingredients! Christmas is celebrated on Christmas Eve with my family. Our traditional meal is tamales, rice, and beans. I have been left feeling unsatisfied for some time now, as my dietary expectations have evolved. I cannot bring myself to eat the neighbor's cousins mother in law's tamales anymore. I just don't know what kind of ingredients they are using. Then I found Becerra's and my void has been filled. By far the best tamales I've ever had! I took the brisket tamales with the Serrano BBQ Sauce and the chicken tamales with the Mild Salsa Verde to a couple of events over the 4th of the July holiday weekend. Everyone that tried them absolutely loved them. The thing that the stood out the most was the quality of the ingredients used and the fact that they were full of flavor from beginning to end.
