The first time I got fillings from Dr. Beavers, I couldn't help but hum: "I can't feel my face when I'm with you. But I love it, but I love it." The second time I got fillings (opposite side of my mouth), I switched tunes and hummed: "I came in like a wrecking ball. I never hit so hard..." If you're reading this, you're probably thinking the aforementioned songs meant that I was in excruciating pain. However, it was quite the opposite--I actually had fun having my fillings done because Dr. Beavers is a professional at what he does, and you're know you're taken care of. This is coming from someone who has had an intense phobia of dentist's office since I had braces and cavities as a child (I blame it on my dad).
I was first introduced to Dr. Beavers through my mother-in-law who sees Beavers regularly. I was new to Kailua and to be quite honest, am not the best with keeping up with doctors appointments because I've never had the best experience. However, 1) I was surprised at how young Beavers was, and 2) Beavers is really personable and not in that creepy doctor way, but in a general, this is one nice human being--rare, doctor or not. In any case, he got right to work with cleaning and inspecting my teeth when he had noticed that I had cavities (take care of your teeth, folks!), and would have to schedule an appointment to get fillings. The front desk staff were also accommodating by emailing me an estimate of how much my fillings would cost due to the options they had (silver vs white) and how much it would cost with insurance. Eventually, I scheduled the appointments with much trepidation despite my great experienced with Beavers and the accompanying nurses.
Now my fillings experiences, both of them, are ultimately why I think Beavers is such a great dentist. As I've stated before, I've never had the best experience with doctors, especially with dentists or orthodontists because I feel like they're always rough with my teeth to the point where it makes me really uncomfortable or hesitant to even come in for cleanings. So while they had to inject my gums with anesthesia, I barely felt the needle or even bled because Beavers was truly a professional. I think I even randomly commented about how it didn't hurt (yes, the anesthesia started kicking in) and Beavers explained that it shouldn't if the doctor knows what s/he is doing. Even now, weeks later, my fillings have held up and even post-appointment, I had no issues.
If you're looking for a great dentist in the Kailua area, I highly recommend letting Dr. Beavers and his team of experts take care of you because it is so rare to find a doctor that actually takes care of you in any way that they can. read more
