He showed me all his work in this 10+ years, I was blown away. I don't remember how my teeth look like, how bad it was. He fixed all of it with his super high level of techniques and passion, and his heart from his personality. He is truly one of a kind, not in only dentistry, including any type of job which facing to customer. He and his wonderful assistant Rie, never hesitate to discuss my concerns, take a plenty of time, showing me the pictures as evidence-based. He is not cheap, but you will get more than what you paid. I'll be his patient till I die or till he retire.

He's not about squeezing in every human body into a can of sardines, instead he will screen you first, see what you need, and if he connects with your chi... If you're lucky enough to be a patient of Dr. Ueda you'll find a man who speaks softly, but has lived three lifetimes. I find it refreshing to have a dentist that shares my stories of travels around the world and life itself. If you knew about Dr. Ueda's journey and how he's here you'd probably admire him three-fold. He's a survivor, like I am, but it's best to live and not dwell. 10-stars for talk on Lady Sumo to Om living. I'm currently in America to take care of all my medical and dental needs and why not polish my grill before I fly back to Japan on my continued travels. Dr. Ueda is located in the Public Radio building (2nd floor) just across of Don Quijote on Kaheka in Honolulu. Parking is free in his private stalls "Dr. Ueda Parking" just up the ramp. Entering the building you'll probably notice a vending machine and a hallway that reminds one of Intermediate school bungalows. Narrow and eerie lol. Just follow the signs to his office and before entering you'll see an original Yoshitoshi Mori (森 義利) framed woodblock print. As a historian and art major I noticed the bold artwork. Upon entering you'll probably be greeted by Dr. Ueda himself. As of this writing he has no receptionist or employees. Dr. Ueda does it all. Rest assured if you have insurance he'll explain everything before you sign off. And if you're curious Dr. speaks English and fluent in Japanese and French! I came in for X-rays, general cleaning, and polishing! Long overdue as my last "teeth maintenance" was at UCSF in San Francisco early in 2022. The good news is that my grill is structurally sound... so yes, I can mogu mogu and enjoy all the good foods that life has to offer - just avoid too much sugar and brush or rinse after all meals! It's nice to be reminded by a respected dentist how it's important to flush out what goes in! As I shake my head in agreement like Eric the kid! :D It's rare to find a dentist that will explain everything he's doing and not be in such a rush with "next!" You get that Dr. Ueda truly cares about your well being. I truly enjoyed chatting, or as locals say "talking story", with a man of the world. We even watched an episode of Lady Sumo on NHK-TV and discussed it lol. You just don't have dental encounters like this anymore... a positive experience that left me smiling 'til next time! I am able to get most of my work done on my lunch break and I don't get nervous or scared when coming here. Dr. Uchida should be put in jail…read more He took my money, did a bad job, and then blamed it all on me. He did the All-on-4 procedure for my upper and lower jaw. Charged me $54,000.00 which I paid in two payments upfront. Told me everything would be fine and that he's an "Expert." He's no expert and not even an implant specialist. He is a General Dentist and a crook! After the procedure was done my bite was off. I went back for adjustments but every time I went in he would blame me for his junk work. The teeth were so off that it cause one of the implants to fail and again he blamed it on me. He's the one that's supposed to make my bite good, that's why I did the upper and lower together. He even made me do Botox to try and solve his problem. Less than a year later, my new teeth on the upper and lower broke. I think the implants and materials he used are cheap and couldn't hold up and that he never fixed the bite properly. He again blamed it on me and refused to even fix it. Since I had no money left, I was of no use to him. He's only concerned with money and driving around in his fancy car. The only reason I didn't sue him is because I don't want to continue this nightmare. I'm pau. Yea he might get away with this on me but this is Hawaii and word will get out that he is a crook and a no good dentist. I hope other potential patients will read this and run far away from his office. Stephen

I left the below review for Dr. Uchida's Honolulu office location but would also like to share here…read moresince Dr. Uchida works out of 2 different offices and has 2 different yelp profiles for each location: Do not go to this dentist he is a nightmare! He seems to have a personality disorder and will yell at his patients and staff. The worst part is he hurts his patients when performing work. How is it that I am having work done on the left side of my mouth and when I awake from the procedure my ENTIRE mouth is cut up and my tongue had lacerations on the right side. He prescribes sedation pills so you are sleeping during the procedure and completely unaware of what is happening. It was only when the anesthesia wore off after I left his office did I realize how bad I was hurt. I feel like he did it on purpose because he was not happy that I returned to his office to fix the bad work he did previously. He will overcharge you and recommend having work done that is not even necessary just to make more money. I know this because I am now at another dentist who took Xrays of my mouth and said that I don't need to have the additional work done that Dr. Uchida said I did. Not to mention, he uses cheap materials so your teeth, implants, bonding etc.. will keep breaking and you will have to keep going back in, and he will charge everytime even though it's his fault. I think that's the plan so he continues making money off of his patients. Please stay away from this place this dentist is unethical and will seriously hurt someone one day.

Dr Nagata poked his head in, looked at the screen (X-ray) and quickly stated I would need a root canal or extraction. It all took him less than a minute. I went back into the room to speak with Colleen. I expressed that I'd like for the doctor to try to save the tooth. I specifically asked if I would be seeing Nagata and Colleen assured me I would. I made an appointment in a slot she could fit me into. Fast forward to the day of the appointment. The appointment wasn't the next day, it was a week out so I suffered a bit while I waited but I was happy that I had a doctor that removes amalgam safely. I was surprised at how congested the waiting room was and 3 others had an 11 o'clock appointment as well. I was called back 20 mins after the hour. This is when I was told I'd be seeing Dr Sato. Who is Dr Sato?? I slowly took the bib off and simply said "No. I don't know Dr Sato and I scheduled to see Dr Nagata." There was no scene or anything, I quietly got out the chair and walked back to the front. No need for dramatics. Colleen spoke to me sweetly and calmly and she was extremely polite. However, I don't buy the act for one second. I'm sure they pull this bait and switch all the time and it's unprofessional. Dr Nagata spent absolutely no time with me and Colleen lied to me, so of course I will not be returning. There are other holistic dentists on this island. I suggest you google using different combinations to pull them up. Also, another thing I did not care for is when I asked for quotes I was not given any. I should have taken that as my first red flag.
