She is on top of everything, has the best memory and exudes the kindest energy. I don't know how she takes care of the whole office so effortlessly! Every single hygienist and dental assistant is very friendly and hardworking. The hygienists impress me with their knowledge and help me feel comfortable. Dr. Taira is an excellent dentist. I tend to have a lot of questions, and she is always happy to answer. She's taken care of some ugly cavities for me. Although Dr. Taira is efficient and quick, she pays great attention to detail. She's precise, professional and very sweet. I feel lucky to have Dr. Taira as my primary dentist. I feel comfortable and well cared for. A little heavy handed while cleaning but that's just to get 'em as clean and sparkling as possible. The first time, after having spent many years overseas, he cleaned my teeth, they were hurting for a day or so. Not a problem after that first time. I had my first and only (so far) crown done here. Painless (other than the portion of the bill that my insurance doesn't pay) and as easy as can be for a dental procedure. I'd definitely recommend Dr Kawasaki to those who need to find a dentist in Honolulu.

With that number, I got in touch with Dr. Chen right away and he told me to come in the next working day before his first patient. After getting that check up, he told me I needed a root canal. I've never had one of those before but it sounded really sore. I think the office usually opens half day on Wednesdays but Dr. Chen gave me an appointment to come back in the afternoon since his schedule was full and because my tooth was hurting real bad. I went back the next day, sat in the chair for 1.5 hours and I'm much better now. The process of getting the root canal done was painless. So I want to say that Dr. Chen is a very good dentist. I have and will continue to recommend him to my friends and co-workers. He is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for and teeth are very important.

In this case, my favorite dentist, Dr Emory Young, my favorite office peeps and my all-time, iron-clad, extremely caring and talented dental hygienist Suzie! I was there yesterday for a cleaning before I dashed off to a fancy gala event. Since I last wrote my review, I must admit I have strayed to another dental location out of sheer laziness and not wanting to drive to town...big mistake! I don't want to bad-mouth (get it, 'mouth'?) the other dental office but let's just say I wasn't very impressed. Once you've had a really stellar experience it's hard to expect anything less. Should I break it down for you? Honesty: my mouth had fallen prey to a dishonest dentist who ruined my teeth promising and assuring me that capping all my teeth with crowns was a good idea, even if my teeth did not need crowns. Ever since he messed me up, I've needed gum surgery and root canals. Dr. Emory Young is the total opposite, he won't try to sell you things you don't need. You'd think dentists are supposed to be honest but watch out for the ones who tell you your whole mouth should be crowned. Communication: Dr. Emory is great at it. He will explain everything in plain English. Maybe he'll tell you about his surfing experiences or his smart talented daughter too. He's easy to talk to and makes you feel at ease. You can ask him anything and he'll give you a straight answer. He always makes me laugh, and that is hard for a dentist to do (childhood trauma with dentists...gives me nightmares) Awesome cleanings: I'm not just saying Suzie is the best on the island because I've been going to her for years, but because I've had my teeth cleaned by other (ahem) dental offices that don't really do such a thorough job. I've had one hygienist tell me "wow your teeth are so clean" and proceeds to rush through the cleaning because, apparently my teeth are so clean they don't need deep cleaning? She also told my husband the exact same thing so I'm thinking she tells everyone the same thing? Clean or not, you'll get your money's worth with Suzie. She will take the time to examine your face from the outside in. She actually found an abcess on my gum on a routine cleaning that was painless but turned out to be a huge deal. If it wasn't for Suzie I may have lost the tooth. Ease in making appointments: Suzie has Saturday cleanings too! He was always up to date on the latest trends, but he not only invested in the top-of-the-line materials, but also in the top-of-the-line drills, wands, and most innovative cosmetic dentistry the industry had to offer. He insured that what he was providing was quality work. In all honesty, it may be pricey, but is his work and education worth it? I can honestly testify that it is. I've seen other dentists, who always commented on my dental work done by Dr. Nomura, who could not even tell with their eyes that it was a composite. He is precise and a perfectionist. 20 years plus later, and the cosmetic work that looks like my natural tooth are still in top condition, with no open margins, no cracks, no decay under the composite, 20 plus years later my teeth are still beautiful and still look like I have never had work done to any of my teeth. He is an artist in dentistry probably as notable as Monet, Picasso, da Vinci, Michaelangelo if dentistry was compared to fine art. Definitely underappreciated in his field, he is top notch in cosmetic dentistry, and 20 plus years later my restorations he did still look and feel amazing. If you don't care about how your teeth look or about how long your restorations will last, then yes this may seem pricey for you. But if you are looking to invest in your teeth and want restorations that look natural, and last for more than I could have ever hoped for or imagined, then this is the dentist for you.
