It has been 5 years since I had done a touch up with Curie, and 8+ sessions of laser my botched brows still has not faded and I'm left with a red outline that's so stubborn to get off and brow hairs that takes so long to grow back after all the laser sessions I've done. I've consulted with the best brow artists here in Honolulu for a cover up and they all say that they could not do a cover up because one side is too low. From laser technicians to brow artists and aestheticians I've had services done with, they all have said the ink she used was probably low quality and she went too deep into the skin causing the pigment to oxidize and not fade. This has been one of the biggest inconvenience and regrets I've ever experienced. I just wanted to express how much it has inconvenienced me financially and emotionally, and the fact that I have to cover up this mess with make up everyday over the last 5 years. I got my eyebrows microbladed/tattooed about 3 weeks ago, so this is a but of a late review. I had been thinking about getting this done for a while, and Curie made the entire process super easy and wonderful! She responded very quickly and answered all of the questions I had. Her space was very clean and she practices with sanitary procedures. Immediately after she was finished, my eyebrows were DARK. I wasnt too sure about them for about a week, and I freaked myself out every time I looked in the mirror. Well now they've lightened to a much more natural shade and I LOVE my eyebrows! I haven't had my touchup session yet, but I'm hoping they aren't as cartoonish as they were before, because I'm super happy as of right now. Now, the procedure itself was downright awful. She did her best to make me as comfortable as possible, but when you're getting small incisions scraped into your face, there really isn't much you can do but suffer through it. I would not recommend this person to do your eye brows. She requested that you come in with your eye brows not waxed or shaped. When she finally drew my eye brows in, I could not clearly see the shape she was going for, because she didn't clean up any of my out grown eye brows hair.. It was my mistake to just place trust with her that it'll come out nice. I was SO WRONG! This is your face we are talking about! I should have stop it right there but I didn't.. Her process for micro-blading was REALLY REALLY painful. It was like having 3 blades cutting your forehead. As the blades cut you, it felt like velcro was pulling at your forehead. She placed topical prior but I felt that it did not work.. at all. When she showed me her final work, I wanted to cry. The shape was unflattering to my face because it lack the high arch I wanted. When I told her the shape she gave me, made me felt like I have a big forehead, she laughed.. Lucky, I found another artist that was able to redo the high arch I was looking for and the pain was MUCH MOTE bearable. Her name is Raquel and she works with beauty and the brow. Today was my first time microblading my eyebrows, so obviously, I was pretty nervous about the procedure. However, Curie helped me through it, and made my brows look gorgeous! Before the procedure, Curie made sure to show me the unopened, disposable blade for my procedure. She also walked me through the process of using numbing cream and ink. The process itself was a little uncomfortable -- the numbing cream definitely helped a lot, but the blade still felt like a repetition of annoying scratches. For the price, you can't beat it. But if you have the extra $100 I would consider going through someone else. Curie was sweet and soft spoken. Gentle process and less scary than I anticipated. The downside, she has a particular style and not willing to do what the customer wants. After initial appointment I was pretty displeased and regretful. I asked for thicker brows but she said she wouldn't do thicker. My eyebrows were pointy and scary looking. She assured me they would heal and look more natural and if I still wanted them thicker during my touch up she could do it then. After my touch up I was relieved, they looked better but she still wouldn't go as thick as I wanted. So although I paid a bunch of money to not have to draw on my brows, I'm still drawing them on 5 months later. Since then, I had one touch up and they are already fading and patchy again. She said they should last a year! I recently contacted Curie to try to get a touch up (willing to pay) but she declined. She said it's too early. I was pretty shocked because I have countless friends who's got their brows done and theirs aren't fading after a few months and their artists were willing to create the shape the customer wanted. So long story short, you get what you pay for. Curie is sweet but the way she runs her business is subpar. The cheap prices will entice first time customers but the quality is sure to lose repeat customers. I was super nervous about getting permanent make-up done because I prefer sleeping rather than waking up early to do make-up so I don't really wear any make-up at all except for shading in my eyebrows because I have such fine hair. I exercise a lot and I have oily skin so my eyebrows tend to disappear by the afternoon or after I sweat. I didn't want to have to worry about that so I thought that microblading would be the answer. I didn't want to do anything dramatic since I don't wear a lot of make-up and wanted it to look as natural as possible. I did a lot of research because it's PERMANENT! I liked the reviews for Beauty Sketch especially about how patient and hygienic she was. I looked at her website and it had very detailed pre and post-procedure instructions and felt that indicated a good attention to detail. I also saw the example photos she put on instagram and facebook and thought they looked great. I was not disappointed! I don't do a lot of yelp reviews but I think this will really help girls who want to get this done but a little nervous. I wrote her a billion nervous texts after people I knew started getting me more anxious by telling me all these things about how they thought it was extreme for someone who didn't really wear makeup to do something permanent. Basically, she's super patient with people like me that get nervous. She asked a lot of questions to help make the right decision. She recommended combo brows which is shading + microblading because I have oily skin. She shaded in the shape of the brows and used a ruler to make sure it was symmetrical so I would see what it would look like. She made a custom brown shade that matched my hair color to make it look even more natural as that one of my big concerns. She was also very thorough during the procedure. Numbing cream helped with the tattoo/shading and I hardly felt the tattoo part. The microblading is a bit like tiny papercuts but they looked really nice and was worth a little discomfort. She kept checking with me to make sure I was okay and would reapply numbing cream whenever needed. She provided very detailed post-procedure instructions which I followed and so the healing process was very quick. The day of and after is the most crucial. The more you pat and ice, the less scabbing and swelling there will be. You can't really see the scabs because it's the color of your eyebrows. The only real swelling was on my lids because I did lashliner too because I thought it'd be convenient. It's not eyeliner but more natural looking. Anyways, I could keep going and going but the main gist is that Curie is super conscientious, hygienic, patient and thorough. Follow her detailed instructions and it will be amazing. Her advice is great and I am insanely thrilled with the results. I love my eyebrows and lashliner and I honestly got tons of compliments on them. She pretty much gave me a unibrow. It was my 1 year touch up and I asked to get ombré powder brows because I had previously gotten the microblade+shading combo and I didn't like how the front of the brows lost its strokes over time and had to fill them in again because the tail was still dark. I think she had warn me that if I got the ombré done it was going to start a little further in to create that gradient effect (I assume) and I was like okay sure. Unfortunately I ended up with a unibrow (which I could not believe she thinks it looks okay I'm not sure if she messed up or if it was intended to look that way to achieve the ombré brows) i know I said I wanted it closer but who in the right mind wants a unibrow. Its not completely touching each other but right after the procedure it was very very close that if I frown it touched! Looking at it right after I said it's too close she said the inner parts were going to fade so I didn't panic as much, also with previous experience I remember when my brows peeled after a week it got significantly a lot smaller, thinner and shorter. I trusted her word and didn't make too much of a fuss about it, since she said was going to "fade" anyway. Missed work the day after of course because it just looked horribe, last time I got it done from her I didn't even miss work because it was wearable. After a week of peeling, yes it got lighter but the inner parts did not fade! At this point I wanted to cry because it was so bad. Used chemical peels and acids to fade it but none worked so I finally messaged her about it and told her I've been using make up to conceal it and she replied make up is my only solution. Very upset that she didn't offer a solution or anything better than make up to fix HER damages so I didn't bother reply. Life went on, 2 months passed, thought I could just wait and see how it faded, still has not fade, i realized it wasn't going to fade anytime soon. Panicking at this point also I was tired of covering it with make up everyday (even if I did it would still show a dark shadow underneath), when I sweat of course it showed even more. I realized I can't go to the beach, gym, or anywhere without a full face of make up. Which defeats the purpose of why I got them done in the first place, which was to be able to just get up and go. I really can't step foot anywhere without concealing them bec. It's just embarrassing and mind you I have to do a full face of make up because if i only covered the inner parts of my brows, my face would look uneven! 2 months passed I finally messaged her again because I was just fed up with it, felt like she really done me wrong so I asked for a refund to help with the laser treatment - I mean why should I pay for it when she's the one who botched my brows and she didn't deserve what I paid her (which she should have offered right away but didn't even though I'm pretty sure she knew she messed them up, like come on you do brows for a living I'm sure out of most people you know what looks right and doesn't). Anyone I talked to they all say it was bad and even the laser place I went to, the technician had someone who did microblading at the same business help with the process (figure out where to laser off) his first words when he seen it was "damn girl who fucked you up"? Anyways, she did offer the refund but didn't own up to the mistake instead she tried to defend herself saying I left the store happy, well she told me it was going to fade so I didn't worry also I've never been botched like this I didn't know how to react. My only option was to laser a chunk of it off which I did, but the fact that I had to miss school and work again because of the laser treatment (laser tattoo removal leaves red burns immediately after treatment which lasts for days), she's just caused me so much inconvenience and the pain I had to go through with the laser treatment, OMG, it was just too much. She only refunded me the $130 for 1 year touch up which is okay not complaining too much about it but I felt like she should of just refunded me the whole $300 because 1 laser treatment isn't even enough, I have to go back for another session or two because the pigment does not disappear right away. Also getting it lasered takes out the gradient effect so I'm still going to be stuck with weird looking brows after but I'll take it over a unibrow and a full face of make up everyday. I didn't wanna laser the whole thing off because it would be too expensive and painful! And the down time, I can't be hiding at home forever. I really can't believe I'm a victim of botched eyebrows but yes it does happen and removing it isn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. You get what you pay for I guess, be careful who you trust. This has just been a really bad experience for me and I just wanted to share it because it doesn't feel right at all. Just got my eyebrows and eyeliner done with Curie. It was relatively painless. She gave me a great deal for doing both eyeliner and microblading at once. First touch up is included. Make sure you follow all the pre & post instructions on her website. She goes over the shape of what you want and draws it in before the procedure so you have an idea of the look. I was curious to get my eyebrows microbladed but it can be costly ($300-500). I was very fortunate to find through yelp that Beauty Sketch was new and she was running a promotion. I messaged Curie inquiring about microblading as well as concerns about the process. Curie was great at answering all of my concerns before I decided to book an appointment. She requires a deposit in order to secure your appt which is good to do a few weeks in advance if possible. Curie is really thorough on trying to make sure you leave with the perfect brows. She took her time outlining the shape and making sure they were even. It takes about 2 hours to have it done and you will walk out feeling good. In the beginning it does look darker than you expect but it does lighten to a more natural look as it heals over the next few weeks. For people with skin sensitivities (like me) be sure to double check for any allergic reactions to ink. I was recommended by my physician to take an anti-histamine 1 week before my touch up and until the healing process was complete. It looked as though I just did my eyebrows (the way I've done it normally with the Anastasia pomade) so I'm not at all bummed. Curie is an amazing artist. She is both meticulous and has an artistic eye for balancing features and listening to her client on their desired eyebrow shape. I was very nervous on my initial appointment as eyebrows can drastically change your look, but I felt much better after Curie sketched my eyebrows on face. She had no problem changing small requests and still have her own advice. She was quick but very efficient. Curie was lovely and accommodating. She made sure that I was comfortable with the eyebrows that I was about to get, and also what she recommended would look good with my face. The process was quick and with minimal pain. For the eyebrows themselves, they came out very dark at first (as expected), and became more natural looking over time as you get used to the change. I would suggest wearing cute glasses during the period of adjusting to your eyebrows, because the glasses will take immediate attention away from the healing brows. If you want the ombre effect (faded inner eyebrows) make sure you stress that you want that. I forgot to stress this so my inner eyebrows are too strong for my liking. She will probably fix that for my second appointment with her today. Otherwise they look great! read more
