I love driving a scooter as a second family vehicle for fun and errands around town, I always store…read moremy scooter in winter, and I really wanted a Vespa after years of driving other brands of scooters that eventually break down. Motoworks has Vespas, so I went there. This place is high end and they clearly expect high end customers but I'm a teacher and not rich, so I hoped for some financing, much as I might if I bought a car. Motoworks encourages you to apply for financing online with a soft pull to your credit, and make an appointment beforehand to visit the showroom, so I arrived expecting an easy go of it. Happy to report sales people were enthusiastic about all their bikes when I got there, and never tried to upsell me. I appreciated that there was space to make decisions. Getting started was fine, and picking out the bike was positive. Nina encouraged me to try out different bikes on the floor until I felt comfortable, and I felt good about the bike I picked. All the people on the floor were friendly and helpful. Then things got weird. I sat around for two hours waiting to hear about financing paperwork for a 5k purchase. Nobody there gave me any insight about interest rates, expectations for money down, or even quoting a price besides the sticker amount. I was finally presented with a printout where they financed half if I paid cash for the other half, on the spot. Purchase price by then was up to 9k after taxes, freight fees, and a murky $800 "maintenance package" that had no details on paper. I wanted to leave the shop and come back the next day with my ducks in a row about the 4K cash from me, but of course they don't want you to leave. Finance lady suggested I ask the "gal" I came in with to help pay with a card. Then she asked if we were married, and told me it was OK to ask my wife to help me pay because our money was shared anyway. Thankfully my "gal" did step up with a second card, but it was an awkward surprise that didn't need to be so weird and nervy. At that point Finance lady was feeling ill, so Finance man came in to finish the sale. Finance man spoke curtly to me about parking bike on street. Finance lady offered me theft program. Why? Did they assume I lived in a bad neighborhood because I parked on the street? Plenty of people park scooters on the street all over Chicago. By now I am thoroughly rattled. After that I finally walked out and got the bike. Bike is stunning and peppy. Sales people were kind as I left. Financing guy provided registration and a plate for me to drive home with. Nina filled the bike with gas, showed me how to use the key, gave me a tee shirt, and gave me a hug before I drove off. Great stock, huge shop, and outstanding salespeople, but do your own financing before you go pick out one of these spectacular bikes.

I felt like a team was taking care of me, not an individual salesperson. The sales price was better than I found anywhere else. The ease and transparency of traveling from New York to pick up the bike at their Chicago location was greatly appreciated. They even arranged to deliver the bike to my son's house in the western suburbs at no additional charge. Nothing but nice things to say about my experience. And what a great bike. It's beautiful and came in at a killer price. Thank you Motoworks!

All the reviews are true, wish I would have listen it would have save me $4,300. I wish I could…read moregive the a half of star. I spent over 4300 to get my bike up and running. They put on a fuel pump, power commander, wiring harness and a handful of little things like change the tires, chain and did the breaks. They was given my bike in late February I didn't get my bike until August 3. If this is where the story ended it would have been okay but it's not. I have been back to the shop almost everyday, because of a problem with the bike. Either the clutch is dragging, the power commander wasn't never point on, the bike was stalling, the tire was flare the very next day after spending 350 on the tire. To be fair the tire could have been my fault, then the forks they put on started leaking less then two weeks later... After he got me to buy some more forks after having my rebuild mine for 350. Every time I spoke with him about my power commander he just said someone lost it but the bike runs fine. My issue is I waited almost three weeks before I asked for my money back and after being stuck with the forks that he said was good and said he inspected because it was one of his friends I just lost all my trust. In the end my clutch gone out at 107 miles per hour on the Dan Ryan I don't know if it had anything to do with changing out my shorts. What I do know is if I paid you $4300 you should have looked over the bike really good and that should have been fixed too. After waiting another whole week I was finally able was able to get my 400 back and I'm taking my bike to a new shop where they are a lot more professional and do better work. At this shop the mechanics are not that good because every time and I do mean every time I was back with a problem I was seeing the same faces back with the same problem too. It got the point where we started joking about it when one of us pulled up or walked up and the other was already in line. Then they don't test ride the bikes after they finish working on them, I had to raise hell just to have someone test ride the bike. While I was their one guy came to pick up a CBR 600RR and before he could get to the corner which is like 30 feet he was on the sidewalk coming back because he's back break was sticking. Which would have been found if they test rode the bike after they complete their work. At the end of the day I normally say these are my experiences check it out for yourself but in this case, the cost is to much and they don't deserve to be in business. It's another shop on 52nd Harlem which appears to be a lot more professional which is where my bike is now. Expert Motorcycle just isn't worth the headache, they give your parts away and then lie about it which I have seen him do, he will say it's for a customer but if you have the money I will reorder which really wouldn't be bad if Covid-19 wasn't going on and you wasn't waiting 3 to 4 weeks for parts to come in... They just do poor quality work and to be honest I gave you the short version but it's a lot more that happen but I think this gives you a pretty good picture of what your getting yourself into at this shop. In the end look at how they rigged my clutch to try to get it to work, if they don't tell you everything you need to know then I don't know what will. ~ Willie

As a customer my feedback should be crucial to their business and covering it up with lies just tells you what kind of business they really are. I'd like to start off by clearing up that they are stating my bike came in on a trailer because it wouldn't start . FALSE. My bike came to their shop on a trailer for a FLAT TIRE, the bike ran perfectly fine and started up every time , it wasn't until it left their shop that it wouldn't run anymore , they offered to fix it so I left it at their shop . Next, they state I was on a budget . FALSE. They failed to inform me of parts and labor costs, and were terrible at communicating repairs needed, they did what they wanted in the end. And Finally , you returned my bike to me at no charge , OF COURSE because who would pay to get their bike back in the condition it was returned, let alone unrepaired and missing original bolts ???! The least they could have done was put my bike back together with the original bolts in the way it first came into their shop . From the looks of it , this shop has a way of covering up peoples experiences to clean their hands from how unprofessional they can be, I still strongly suggest you stay away from here.

I had gone to many of the past ones in Chicago but then never offered good service and communication next to a reasonable turnaround time in repair or maintenance. Some are even cheating Motorcycle customers. Anyways if one is in dire need in Chicago to upkeep and repair ones motorcycle do go here. They are the only ones in downtown Chicago. Mike the owner of the business and Elvis his assistance even went above and beyond to put a extra clutch peg after leaving their shop. Their estimates for repair are reasonable and they try to work it out with pricing if it is too much to repair and insurance does not cover your damages. I got my 2009 Harley 883 sportster back and I am pretty happy since they got it fixed within less than a week. Do go here.
