I have to tell you, this was such a pleasant surprise after a difficult day trying to find food while hitting the northern portion of Yellowstone. My two boys and I had tried to go to Gardiner for lunch and everything was closed, we ended up eating from a gas station (Thank goodness they had lunchables for my boys). We really wanted some solid food and Beartooth took care of that. The portions were great, I actually got stuffed with my meal. By the way, if you go, you HAVE to try the green chili cream style corn. This was delicious and even though I was full, I was tempted to get another portion. My boys loved the place as my oldest had a brisket plate and my youngest got the hot dog and chips. Rachel who took care of us was so friendly! She asked where we were from and was just very down to earth. I overheard her talking about her shifts as it seems all of Yellowstone and surrounding areas are suffering from Covid and the inability to get workers to come to the area. If you stop by, please take care of her, she's a great person and stays on top of her hosting duties. All in all, I highly recommend this establishment and since my boys have decided we are going back next summer, I know we will be enjoying the food here again. When my family and I had the hankering for some BBQ, Beartooth's menu looked simple, direct and tasty. We stopped in looking to get take out since my twin 6 year olds had NO intention of sitting down for a long and drawn out meal. So while I can't comment on the service aspect, the gentleman taking our order was patient and super pleasant. My wife got the pulled chicken sandwich w/potato salad and I've never heard her exclaim how much she enjoyed her food. She says that the chicken had a smoky charm, and the only thing that she needed the BBQ sauce for was to add a tad bit of zing. Although when I looked over, she was almost licking the sauce container clean . . . just zing huh?!?!? I enjoyed the pulled brisket sandwich w/cheese grits and I have to agree with the Mrs, the meat didn't NEED the sauce, but the accent that it added was fantastic, and I too might have licked the cup clean. I do regret not buying their bottled BBQ sauce to take home, but hindsight is 20/20 right. Oh, and the cheese grits are exactly the way I would have made them at home. Portion sizes were big. We got the "large" serving and both were enough for two meals. So why only 4 stars? I would give 4.5 if I could. However, the parking, although free on the street, can be sketchy, and the prices are quite a bit more than I would expect for a basic sandwich. But you are in a resort setting and the prices reflect that. And since we live in Honolulu, Hawaii, we know a bit about resort settings. Needless to say, bring your fat pants, steal your toddlers' wet wipes, and settle in for some FANTASTIC BBQ. read more

This is a solid BBQ joint in West Yellowstone. Really hit the spot after a long day! I ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich and was not disappointed. The meat was tender and I really loved their BBQ sauce. The bun was awesome! It was hefty enough to hold all my meat and not fall apart or get soggy. But it wasn't so hefty that it overpowered the meat and was hard to eat. And also those baked beans were ON POINT. The set up here is pretty cute and perfect for a BBQ place. It's also a great spot to watch a game. Biggest complaint is that the service could have been more prompt. It is a little pricey, but I guess pretty reasonably priced for being in West Yellowstone. This was our back-up option when we did not get a place at the more popular BBQ joint in the area. They told us to seat eight folks it would be await of about 30 -40 minutes . While we waited they offered us their fresh made potato chips and kept checking on us frequently . The restaurant is not very big so the tables are pretty cramped up and close together .After a long wait we were finally seated and our orders taken . We ordered 2 full rack of ribs , Smoked sausage and Hot Link sausage and multiple sides - Coleslaw , Green chili Creamed corn , cowboy caviar , Tabouli and the Potato chips . We told them that we will be sharing the food and asked for plates . They were a little reluctant to let us use plates as "this was not their policy" . we were a little surprised that a restaurant has a policy against giving customers plates but nevertheless they let us have a couple plates and the rest of us proceeded to eat on their napkins !! They also had a good beer selection .The food was fantastic -the ribs were well made and juicy and came with a BBQ sauce on the side . The sausages were also quite a great addition to the meal . First time visiting this place. We were seated upon arrival and our server immediately took our drink order. We were provided with water while we waited for our drinks. The menu is not big but has several good selections of their various meats. My wife ordered the ribs and I ordered the sausage plate. My plate consisted of two sausages, the beans and potato salad. They also include a slice of bread and pickles and onions. Each plate comes with a small cup of their barbecue sauce. My wife had the green chili corn and chips as her sides. As with most barbecue places the food arrives very fast. My beans very good but a little on the sweet side for me. The potato salad was good and typical of most barbecue places. My wife loved her green chili corn and we both thought it was the best side they offered. Gather chips were just ok. Service was very good and our server checked on us several times. Great BBQ in West Yellowstone! Went there on a Friday night in early October, with my brother Greg after a long day of working on the deck. We also wanted to watch a baseball game and they have plenty of TV's. This is sort of a mixture of a bbq place & a sports bar theme. They also have a ton of craft beers that offer free tasters. For my brother this was awesome. I had my usual water to drink. For appetizers we had the jalapeño poppers they were pretty good but their dipping sauce is excellent! Greg had a link sausage with baked beans & tater salad. He said it was pretty good. I had the pulled pork bbq and it was pretty good, then you have different sauces at your table to dip them in. All in all it was pretty good. The staff was all Eastern European & by the time we left the place was full of Chinese people. So it was pretty fun. Probably will be back!! read more

Super bummed after eating here yesterday. I understand that it takes a lot of time and care to prepare bbq meats, and I'm absolutely willing to pay for a tasty plate. However, this place is INSANELY pricey for what you get. I figured that for ~$40, the mixed rib and brisket plate would be enough for my daughter and I to share. Boy was I wrong. We were both still hungry after. Four pork ribs were very good, but ribs never have much meat on them. I upgraded to sliced brisket for $2 extra, and they literally gave me two teeny, thin slices. The two sides, tabbouleh and cowboy caviar were good. I'm just blown away that this would cost so much. I mean, usually when an entree is priced that way you get real silverware (theirs is plastic), tablecloths (nope), and a more fine dining atmosphere. This place is ultra casual. Even though it was tasty, I won't go back because the value sucks. My biggest gripe is with how our waitress handled an allergy issue. I'm allergic to milk. It's a serious issue. The entrees come with bread, so I asked if it had milk or butter in it, and explained why I needed to know. She looked put out and said "so you don't want the bread?" No, I do want it, if it doesn't have milk in it, and I asked her to please check with the kitchen. Our plate did not have the bread, which is fine. Maybe that would have helped fill us up? In any case, the waitress didn't even bother to say "hey, I checked and the bread does have milk in it. So sorry!" Just tossed the plate down and walked away. An acknowledgment would have been nice. Even better, If have left a larger tip than the min 15% if she would have said "hey, the bread does have milk in it, so I had the kitchen add a little more of...(whatever) to help fill the space." THAT is good customer service. Not allergy friendly, I guess, and/or not educated enough to care that some of us have to take ingredients really seriously. If the owner reads this, I hope some training can come of it. And maybe think about doubling the sliced brisket on the plate. Sheesh. That portion was just stingy, and pathetic. read more

Came here after seeing Firehole bbq around the corner was closed for the season. An elderly couple visiting from out of town like me suggested this place. The lady serving was very kind, friendly, and quick on her feet as much as she can considering she was the only one serving the whole place. I ordered a pound of sliced brisket, half rack of ribs, potato salad, and cream corn. Everything tasted fantastic! I was lucky because the lady told me she gave me a little more than a pound of the brisket. And even though a half rack of ribs is 6 pieces, I definitely also got more than half. The brisket was moist with a little bit of fat, just how I like it. The meat on the ribs easily came off. The sauce I got for my to-go orders was tangy and a bit spicy. The potato salad was good, but the creamed corn was my favorite!! I absolutely loved it and wished I ordered more of it! Guess it was destiny I come to this bbq place rather than the other one. Originally, we were shooting for Firehole BBQ because it was listed on Yelp that they close at 10pm. But when we got there at around 9pm, it was pitch dark and closed. So we happen to come up on Beartooth BBQ. So glad we came here because we were seated right away, our server was great and the BBQ was pretty good. The restaurant is located right in the middle of town where the highway from Bozeman ends. There are restaurants next door and across the street. Parking wasn't an issue as it was after 9pm and we got a spot right in front. We ordered the 2 meat combo with pulled pork and chopped brisket (recommended by our server). At first, I thought the pulled pork was turkey because it was white and big chunks, but after taking a bite, it was definitely pork. It was tender and juicy and had great taste. Originally, I ordered the sliced brisket but asked our server if we can get the fatty pieces. She recommended that we get the chopped brisket instead as that has more fat than the sliced one. The bbq ribs was good, but it did not fall off the bone. In fact, we found it to be a little tough and the meat was sticking to the bone. The moment you walk in you understand what you're in for. The smell of BBQ lingers strongly in the air. Their ribs were really well cooked and the meat fell off the bone. We also ordered a bunch of their sides and they were all good as well. The cowboy caviar was personally my favorite, but it's maybe not for everyone. The chips and corn might be a safer bet for most people. Their BBQ sauce is also nice. It's less citrusy, but more tomatoey and smokey than most other BBQ sauce.
