I was impressed! I ended up buying a bottle of Balcones Lineage. After getting home my wife and I did a one to one comparison- Lineage vs. Crown Royal. Lineage won hands down. It was fantastic! Fun history of the family distillery and I definitely know what I don't like! I mean if chewing on a barrel board soaked in alcohol was a thing, that's what some of them tasted like! Don't be mad! Just my opinion! I'm normally sipping on Sangria! Now the buttered pecan, it was like sipping spicy syrup! And that was delightful! Pass the pancakes! The toasted coconut ! Warmed my heart in the best way possible! And then we got to the moonshine! Thankfully it was just tiny tasting cups! My favorites were the Pecan Sippin Sauce & the Peach Pie. I mean the banana pudding moonshine wasn't terrible either! After all those little TINY sips we had dinner at the cantina on the property. I had birria tacos and TA had birria fries. So GOOD! After we had filled our bellies with FOOD, we had to check out the converted train caboose to speakeasy lounge, just a little walk behind the main building where you could order fun cocktails and just sit and chat. We met some fun people and had the best conversation with delicious cocktails! We tried the chocolate martini and the toffeetini! Every staff member was welcoming, helpful and seemed genuinely happy to work there! The property is great! LOVED the swings outside and the seating inside was fun and inviting! We bought our tickets to the event when we arrived. Tickets for tours are also available. After walking through the store and the rows of wooden barrels from floor to ceiling, you find yourself in a small area with a big bar. The event price includes one cocktail of your choice. I chose the Oh Peachy and later purchased a pecan old-fashioned; both were delicious! Unfortunately, the food truck broke down, so there was no food available!! Big Mike was performing in the big lodge room; the acoustics are pretty bad, especially once people start talking, but at least it was cool in there, We spent a lot of time in the store and ended up purchasing a fused bottle of whiskey to split. It was fun, deciding which cork stopper to get to add to my daughter's collection. The store has different sizes and shapes of a wooden court display boards; in the shape of Texas. My first impression walking in was not flattering. Like I said "hole in the wall" place with not a lot of seating, an open garage door leading out to a screened patio with much needed patio heaters on this particularly brisk fall night. We took a seat and were greeted by staff. A general run down - all their drinks are made from locally distilled spirits (whiskey and vodka) and their beer is local craft beer. They serve no "commercially" available spirits or beer. We both started off beers; the Roasty Toasty which had a nice rich winter taste with some hints of sweetness. My wife had their Mexican Lager which was very similar to other Mexican beers (think XX) but was very smooth. The Mexican lager could be served fully dressed with a salted rim and a lime but she declined the salt. If you are a beer connoisseur they offer a 4 flavor flight to give you the option of trying different flavors. Next up we ordered some pizza. I am very much a pizza snob and I have to say this was some of the best pizza I've had in a while. We jumped in with both feet and went straight for the Supreme which has pepperoni, sausage, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and black olives. All pizzas are served in a 12" size with eight manageable slices per pie. The crust was just right; not to thick and not thin that it gave way to the sauce and toppings. Staff mentioned that all the pizzas were made on site and appeared to be all fresh toppings. A good pizza, much better than what we were expecting. The menu had several pizza options (cheese, pepperoni, Margherita, etc.) There were some sandwiches that looked pretty good, especially the hot roast beef. It's a small menu with not a lot of options, but all the options look fantastic. We enjoyed an evening of live music and visiting with friends. We decided to try a couple mixed drinks as we listened to the musician play some country music. I had the "In Fashion" which is their version of an Old Fashion. It was made with their local whiskey, black walnut bitters and Luxardo cherry juice garnished with a cherry. The drink was easily a 10 out of 10 with just the slightest hint of sweetness. My wife had a strawberry mule which featured their brand vodka infused with fresh strawberry and mixed with ginger beer served in the standard copper mug. Overall, this place was definitely a hidden gem, small but packing some major flavor. Price point was to be expected; $8-9 for a mixed drink and $20-24 for a handmade pizza.

A product and a brand born out of passion for the highest quality spirit. I'm so completely wowed by the warm welcome of the founding family and staff. Customers limited to two bottles per month documented by your DL. Check this place out before you can't get in. I suspect they won't be a hidden gem for long.

Very friendly service over the phone and from the moment you walk in. We were each give four tokens to try different bourbons. The two of us samples 8 total. When we finally arrived, what could've been a ruined evening turned into one of the most memorable nights we've had. Every single person we encountered at Blackland was incredibly kind and welcoming. He truly understands spirits and how to elevate them.
