When I realized they don't sell online or through distributors, I knew I had to check them out in person. The brand story is incredible. A product and a brand born out of passion for the highest quality spirit. I'm so completely wowed by the warm welcome of the founding family and staff. Customers limited to two bottles per month documented by your DL. Check this place out before you can't get in. I suspect they won't be a hidden gem for long.

I consider myself a whiskey kind of gal so I was very interested in visiting a distillery and trying new spirits. They close at 6:00pm on Saturday and we were already on the way there to arrive around 5:30pm. I called to double check if they were still accommodating tours and they were very welcoming. Upon entering, we were kindly greeted and it was a very chill vibe. We learned a lot about the history, the process, and much more! I totally recommend this craft distillery that offers two different spirits - one made with long grain rice and one with jasmine rice. They also shared they are working on a new product soon! Cheers to them on being the first Vietnamese-owned craft distillery in North Texas!

The "wine…read moretasting room" is very cute and there are also little goodies for sale, like candles and gummy wine infused dinos (!!!). There's also a good selection of cheesecakes which sounded interesting but we didn't try them. Staff was very friendly in giving recommendations and describing each wine. Tried a few recommended wines (each person can sample 2 for free) and they were just okay for me. Lots of fruity wines and some seasonal flavors like gingerbread which was interesting. I liked the lime with coconut the most, but didn't love any enough to buy a glass or bottle. We ended up getting the cheese board, which was $18 and came with crackers and a good selection of cheeses, meats, nuts and mustard dip. Adding some grapes would've been amazing!

First let me say that April is their peak time (because it's blue bonnet season and folks are out and about) so they charge a fee to park. We arrived near closing time yet they were kind enough to welcome us in and allow us to look around. We also decided to grab a glass of wine while we walked around looking. I will honestly say that I am NOT a wine snob, I couldn't tell ya a good glass from a bad glass but I don't like dry and I don't usually like reds. With that said I was given some suggestions and for what it's worth, I'd drink it again. We were offered to purchase some cheesecake but without seeing what I was getting and told $11, I passed on it. I will say that the souvenir "glass" that I paid for was disappointing, come to find out it's a plastic cup, however I was told it "floats in the pool" but I'll never know because I don't own a pool to sip and float in. So most the folks out in the yard were wine tasting and seemed to be enjoying what they had. I had one couple who actually went down the list letting me know what their favorites were and why (I took notes). This is a cute little spot off the beaten path. I must say that I'm thankful for a restroom but I'm never a fan of portable potty's and unfortunately this was the only option at the time. If I'm out this way again, I'll make a stop and try a wine flight to see if the other wines live up to the hype.

(5 stars) A Hidden Whiskey Gem in the Texas Countryside…read more We had the pleasure of visiting 1845 Distilling in Lowry Crossing, Texas, and were warmly welcomed by Bob, the owner, and Miguel, the head distiller--an incredible father-in-law/son-in-law duo who are clearly passionate about their craft. Tucked away in the cooling shade of a pecan orchard, this distillery is a hidden gem just outside of Dallas that deserves a spot on every whiskey lover's map. If you're traveling the Lonestar Whiskey Trail, make sure 1845 is on your itinerary--you'll be glad you did. Bob's Southern hospitality made us feel right at home. He gave us a personal tour of their still house, bottling facility, and beautiful rickhouse, sharing their vision for future expansion along the way. You can feel the pride, purpose, and family spirit in every detail of the operation. After the tour, we settled into their cozy tasting room and recorded an episode of The Whiskey Trip--surrounded by great whiskey, good conversation, and genuine Texas charm. And then there's the whiskey. Their rye bourbon absolutely blew my mind. It had every note and nuance I look for--bold, balanced, and beautifully crafted. Maybe it's the influence of those pecan trees, their precision German stills, or Miguel's talent behind the spirit--whatever the magic is, I was hooked from the first sip. 1845 Distilling is more than worth the trip--it's a shining example of craftsmanship, family, and true Texas hospitality. But from the very first phone call, Sophie at Blackland Distillery showed nothing but grace and patience. She allowed us to keep pushing back our reservation without a hint of frustration, and that alone deserves a standing ovation. When we finally arrived, what could've been a ruined evening turned into one of the most memorable nights we've had. Every single person we encountered at Blackland was incredibly kind and welcoming. Marshall greeted us with warmth, and Jeremy? He's not just a bartender--he's a cocktail artist. The drinks he crafted for us were next-level, easily some of the best we've ever had. He truly understands spirits and how to elevate them. We were genuinely torn when it was time to leave for our dinner reservation at Wicked Butcher--honestly, we could've stayed sipping Jeremy's creations all night. Before we left, we got to meet Sophie in person (she stuck around!), and by that time, we had sampled every single spirit Blackland offers. Each one was exceptional--smooth, bold, and full of character. Take home message: Top-tier spirits, an amazing vibe, and a team that genuinely cares--Blackland Distillery turned a stressful day into an unforgettable celebration. We'll be back... and next time, we're staying all night.
