The shop is adorable with an accent wall covered in beard papa and they have cute little gatcha machines. There's tons of seating so bring a group! There hasn't been a flavor I haven't liked :) my go to is the matcha with matcha filling or churro! But I always love trying their seasonal flavors ~ this time there was a Dubai chocolate, raspberry custard, and mango custard! I recently heard about Beard Papa's through work and after seeing the pictures I knew I had to try it for myself. I placed an order online for pick up and arrived a little early. I was quickly greeted and told my order was almost ready to go--in the mean time I checked out the bright, cheerful and squeaky clean shop. While I waited the owner offered samples, all of which were delish and made me realize I will need to come back soon to try their drinks! Beard Papa is one of the best kept secrets of Spokane, and it genuinely shouldn't be. I've had it before in Seattle, so when a location opened here I was so stoked, and I have never been disappointed. The whole shop is set up in a fun, modern style, with plenty of photo-op areas. It's always clean, light, and airy. I love the crane games, which usually have fun, Japanese style rewards. The cream puffs are amazing--I have never had a bad one, and I have had way too many to admit on the internet. There's seasonal flavors monthly, and often cool collabs with Japanese brands. The custard drinks are also incredible. The owners are literally the sweetest people in the world--so thoughtful, and above and beyond every time. 10.13.24: We had to come back after trying Beard Papa's for the first time back in September for a Yelp event. I'm all about consistency and our first time in was so great that I wanted to try it again to make sure it wasn't a hit or miss kinda place. Well let me tell you, the consistency of Beard Papa's cream puffs are definitely there and so is Mark's excellent customer service and attitude. The woman who also works there (wife maybe? I don't want to assume ) is really nice and friendly too. This time around as a dine-in treat, we ordered the Purple Oreo (Oreo custard filling w/ ube and Oreo topping), Churro w/ horchata custard filling, and Cereal filled w/ frozen mango custard. As a take home, we ordered a half dozen of the classic puffs with vanilla custard. My friend also keeps ordering this Oreo custard shake that he says is thick and delicious lasts the entire hour ride home. I love how you can make your own unique custom cream puff that would suit even the people on the pickier side. I enjoy trying the flavors of the month and they're all so different too, not too mention really flavorful. If you love tropical flavors, then the frozen mango custard is worth the try. The purple Oreo is a great catch for Halloween month. The subtlety of the ube mixed with the Oreo makes for a perfect sweet chocolatey goodness. I was surprised with the Churro horchata because I thought the horchata would be more on the plain side. I was totally wrong and the horchata had a great cinnamon and nutmeg flavor combo. Love, love this place!! They have different flavors of cream puff shells with special flavors each month. You pick the shell you want and filling. Each one is filled at time of order, so they are fresh. They also offer shakes, frozen ice cream puffs and various deserts. I got the strawberry puff with green tea filling, honey butter puff with vanilla and a creme brulee. The shells tasted fresh and were just the right consistency to hold in the filling without being hard. The green tea filling was wonderful , it didnt have an artifical taste. OMG this place is the best. I walked in and the young lady greeted us was so kind and helpful. Patient as can be and she needed it with my crew going here for the first time. I tried a regular puff with a mango filling which was drop dead perfect. We all had something different and they were all outstanding. The store had a fantastic atmosphere colorful and bright. For the cream puffs, you basically pick the type of eclair, and the flavor of custard you want to pair it with. They have a bunch of different eclair flavors ranging from smores, strawberry, original, Oreo, etc. For the custards, they have several flavors ranging from vanilla, green tea, ube, etc. The combinations are endless. I'm a crème brûlée (ty google for letter accents) kind of guy, so I stuck with the strawberry and original eclair with vanilla custard. Very nice custard base, creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness and vanilla flavor. The ratio of creme to bread is probably 100:1, which I appreciate. I thoroughly enjoyed both pastries! I was pretty excited about this place considering that as a kid my fave desert was crème puffs or anything with whipped cream honestly. These puffs aren't made with whipped cream, they are more of a custard like cream. They also got soggy very quickly. For me this was no go, however many love them! I come here at least once a month, because they always come out with a new custard filling. We were able to purchase plain, Oreo, and the chocolate fondant. The Oreo was the best in my opinion. Just enough sweet to balance out the custard. It's very full so beware or maybe wear a bib. The chocolate was pretty good but definitely don't put into microwave more than 10 seconds. It had good flavor and paired great with ice cream. I will say, the deserts are on the pricy side.. but I know people willing to pay double that for a coffee. So I don't find going out for a pastry to be much different. It's meant to be a treat. Went on a Monday afternoon so it wasn't busy. I have to say that I was so excited to try this place and had high hopes. The creme puffs weren't too bad. We had the original with vanilla filling and the Chocolate e Clair with chocolate filling. The complaint is it's a little pricey for what you get. Also very bland inside and didn't really have that cozy feeling. Happy we tried and maybe we might go again someday but I would love to see more options first , especially in the drink category. read more
