So I first had Beard Papa cream puff years ago in California. I usually would bring a box home or if I have friends or relatives coming to visit, they would bring me a box of Beard papa. Needless to say I was thrilled to see beard papa here in Denver. So I'm my first order was on Sunday Super Bowl day ... I ordered an assorted flavors (original, green tea, brown sugar, creme brûlée). My all time favorite was the original. Brown sugar cost more but I think it was just OK. For the price, I would rather drink a boba drink. Beard papa is a franchise so I assume that the recipe is the same across all stores, but my question is why is the cream so runny here vs California which was more thick? Second time I ordered was on 02/10, 4 creme brûlée-- though good but there was very little creme filled. A little disappointed. Third time is 03/09, I order 6 creme brûlée and this time I have to say they have improved. The creme puff as its name looks puffier and filled with a lot more creme!!! Which was great! read more

I cannot believe they opened a Beard Papa in CO! I'm a California native that can get her cream puff fix locally now. The cream puffs are big, fluffy and DELICIOUS. Slight crunch first, then you're hit with a generous load of cool flavorful cream. Mixing the different puff outer shells with different creams makes it fun and gives you variety. Always a hit for dessert or bringing to a party. read more

I used to have Beard Papa back in California. I can safely say that it's made an extremely smooth transition to Denver. We had the creme brûlée and honey butter creme puffs. Both tasted amazing and the creme is almost more like a custard. Great and unique way to indulge. Definitely go here for a quick and easy dessert alternative! read more

These cream puffs are SO GOOD! Sometimes I get worried about large cream puffs because the flavor can taste a bit off, but these were incredible! I chose the honey butter shell and it was so good. Adding the honey on the shell was a great move. I could eat like 5 of these in one sitting! I like that there are many options for customizing your cream puff. They were super quick about serving me as well. read more

You had me at eclair! As I walked in, the smell reminded me of the bakery my mom took me to as a child. We would always get chocolate eclairs. Now I find a place that serves them how you want them. You can get them frosted and filled with your favorite flavors. They were incredibly nice here and I didn't have to wait long for my eclairs. I got a few chocolate topped vanilla cream filled, and a couple strawberry topped. I also bought a strawberry cheesecake eclair to take to the nurse who was administering my first Covid vaccine. It turned out she used to go to Beard Papa's in Hawaii and was soooo excited a location had opened here. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors. We will be back! read more

I love beard papas! My favorite snack is a ube flavored cream puff! Too bad at this location everything is terrible. I tried the green tea cream puff...why does it taste FISHY? Everything I've tried here does not only taste off, but it tastes bad. So disappointed because this is my favorite dessert place ever! They also have no drinks if you are used to a location that has drinks! Don't have all of the flavors that you should be used to! Do not go!! read more

We stopped by Beard Papa after having an amazing dinner at Jaya Asian Grill (just a couple doors down). The Green Tea puff with the original filling is the best cream puff I've ever had. The filling was light and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness and a hint of vanilla. The puff was flakey and they filled it in front of us with our choice of filling. Sooooo good! I'll be back. read more

The customer service is always so friendly-- they all genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs, and they've always been helpful with questions and helping my indecisive butt choose what I want. All the flavors are great, depending on what you like. I love the crispy almost puff when I'm in the mood for a little crunch, and the original is great otherwise. The brown sugar boba cream filling is my favorite, but honestly, their vanilla filling is even fantastic! Definitely check out the specialty puffs too. I've only tried the creme brûlée so far, but one of these days I'll branch out and check out the strawberry eclair and the Oreo crunch. read more

We tried 9 different flavor/ filling combos. Cream puffs were good but not amazing. Kinda stale and dense. Fillings good but not amazing. I expected more rich flavors & texture. Example chocolate not that chocolaty/ fudgy /decadent- more like knockoff chocolate pudding. A fun try but not a must do and probably not going to repeat. Better dessert stops to be had. read more

So, first off, let me say I love Papa Beards! Unfortunately my experience as of late was not up to par. The guy working there says his manager refuses to replace the ice cream, and it been bad for 3-4 months, so they refuse to serve it (which I appreciate). My husband went there a few weeks ago and was told the same, so we're stuck with the cream, but not ice cream. So today I paid for my order, told the guy I would be back to pick it up (I had an appt within the same plaza), but when i got back, there was a note in the window stating they had to use the bathroom and would be right back? First of all, it's a cream puff business. The doors were locked so I waited 15 for him to "come out of the bathroom", who wants cream puffs if you're going to the bathroom? Are you putting something extra in it? Second, Then when I told him how long it was, he denied it. The whole time I was talking to him, he had gloves on his hands, and kept touching his face, his hair, his anything that could be touched, so I have no clue if he even changed them.Anyways, I love this company, but they need to step it up. He's supposed to be training some new owners.......but idk......this is the only location available right now, so I hope it stays open, but I won't be going back for a few months........ read more

This place is decent. I got an original cream puff with matcha filling. It was okay but it was certainly a little bland. I will definitely return to try other flavors and maybe might increase the rating if it's better than what I had. read more

How have I never been here before??? How am I going to stay away, lol??!! This is my kind of sweet treat. A custom fresh cream puff. What could be better?! Counter person was super helpful and made great recommendations. But you really can't go wrong with any combo of cream puff shell and filling. This is a great alternative to going for a scoop of ice cream. Would have taken a picture..... but I ate it too quickly read more

I am probably in the minority here but I like my cream puffs softer and the cream a bit more firm. Their shell is crunchy and flakey. The filling is almost like a thick soup rather than cream. The flavor is good on everything we tried but just don't care for the texture. On the up side, there were leftovers and after a night in the fridge, the shell was softer and the cream has a chance to thicken up so it was better after a night in the fridge. It is worth a try to see for yourself if you like them that way. read more

I got the traditional cream puff with vanilla filling and the Oreo with chocolate filling which came out to be almost $9. Both cream puffs were beautiful but it was okay tasting. What a lovely place for snacks! We got there around 4 pm on a Saturday and there were no long lines. The cream puffs were fresh and delicious. There are 4 filling choices: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and boba. The almond crunch had a great almond flavor but is smaller then the regular puffs. I wanted more!! I paid about $25 for 6 puffs. read more

The dessert is good but not worth the staff treating you like you are annoying them. There's a middle aged Asian girl, black straight hair, black rammed glasses. Made me 'hurry up' and then flicked my bag at me. I spent $70 at your business for some dessert my family wanted and I'm an annoyance with my order. Yea I'll take my money somewhere else read more

About one hour wait. Waiting line outside and inside of the shop. Worth for the wait. I love their puffs.. Can't wait to go back read more

Walked in 30 min before closing (was a sign on the door saying during Fall/Winter hours they close at 8pm, but on Apple Maps it had said 9pm) and there were about a dozen plain mini cream puffs left and 4 small donut looking things. The employee wasn't friendly and dryly explained our options, didn't offer any deals on the soon-to-be expired puffs, wouldn't let us order less than 6 mini puffs, and wouldn't let us choose different flavor fillings for our kids. I didn't want to disappoint the kids so we ordered 6 and she handed us the puffs without saying anything. Maybe this store is amazing in the mornings but we won't be back. read more

We love this place! They have a ton of different cream puff options. You choose your puff and then which filling you'd like. We usually get the original and do vanilla or chocolate puffs. Only thing I didn't like was the tea tastes like it was made with bad tap water. Only thing I would change! The people here are very nice and service is quick! read more

Tried out two cream puffs w/ matcha filling, one with the chocolate shell and one without. The matcha is a lovely and strong flavor that you can definitely taste, which is sometimes an issue in other matcha-filled desserts. I loved the crunch of the cream puff pastry, and was surprised at how much of the filling it held. I thought I would like the chocolate shell more - and it's very good - but my favorite was the OG cream puff, as it was a more neutral base with which to scoop up and eat the rest of the spilt cream. If you don't like desserts that are too sweet, I would play around with the fillings but stick to the regular cream puff. Delicious, can't wait to return for more! read more

I found this Cream puff place on tik toc and had to check it out for myself. When you walk in it's pretty cool. Walls are filled with lots of cool art. When you walk in, you walk down some stairs straight to the ordering counter. You will see a bunch of different cream puff shells and you can pick whichever one you want and fill it with different cream puff fillings. I went with the basic cream puff and vanilla filling. I was not impressed with the Cream puff as it was as if it were a day old, it was hard and not soft like I envisioned a cream puff to be. However, the vanilla bean custard inside was to die for and that is why I am giving 2 stars. One star is for the cool decorations inside and 1 star is for the vanilla bean cream puff filling. I do not recommend this place unless you go in the morning and the cream puffs are fresh. Maybe next time I go to Denver I will give it another shot. read more

In town for a couple weeks and had to try Beard Papa ASAP! Came in on a Tuesday and no one was in there (super happy there wasn't a crowd!) We got every puff to bring home but the few we did try in store was so good! Definitely recommend getting the Oreo with vanilla filling. We also did Matcha s'mores with matcha filling and it was too much but I'd try it again with vanilla filling next time. Love the concept of different flavored cream puffs and the name is so catchy! Don't forget to snap a photo next to their cute neon light read more

Half hour to fill first-in-line order while everyone else waited. Additional staff finally floated in. Music is too loud when trying to communicate thru masks. Eclair chocolate is too thick. Go with other choices. Would return once mgmt has things figured out. read more

I used to always frequent the beard papa store in the marukai food court in Gardena when I was living in SoCal. After moving to CO, I actually learned how to make cream puffs because I craved them so much. Although homemade is almost as good, beard papa has so much variety that it just can't be beat. My kids love the eclairs but I prefer original. They just seem more fluffy and flaky. The boba filling is a hit with the whole family but really all of them are good. The staff are friendly and even with a line, it moves pretty fast. Best of all, the store is right next to Ding Tea and almost across from meet fresh. read more

I'm glad to have a Beard Papa's in Denver! I've been here a couple of times though and it's a nice treat while you're in the area but...not worth going out of your way for. I guess my tastes have matured since I last had Beard Papa's in college, but the pastry wasn't as crisp as I'd have hoped for and some of the trendier flavors don't seem very appealing versus the OG cream puff. Whenever I'm down that way though, I try to make it! read more

Drove 45 minutes to get dessert with my boyfriend here. We don't have a lot of extra time to see each other. Google said they were open until 9. We arrived at around 8:04 for some broad who was serving another customer at the counter to tell us they were closed. Instead of serving us, which would have taken all of 5 minutes she turned us away and was only like "yea, we still have to update the hours." What a fucking joke. Here's to another shit business that doesn't understand how to operate, and give decent customer service. I don't have time to waste on driving an hour and a half for a giant disappointment. I'm never coming here again, I will be sure to let all my peers know if the place ever comes up in conversation that it sucks. There are a million other places in Denver to spend money at. this was yesterday. Get better employees. Update your shit. Do better. read more

I really liked the cream puffs. They were delicious and well worth the extra time at the gym. The Vietnamese coffee filling was to die for! I deducted one star because at $3.50 a pop. That's well over $40 for a dozen and that's kind of excessive to me. read more

I saw a reel for Beard Papa's on social media, I was extremely intrigued. I was going to see if I could order online and have it shipped, then was pleasantly surprised when I discovered there was a location in Denver. I found the Denver location and was so excited to go. The location itself has a cute aesthetic, nothing flashy. The one and only employee was putting a pick up order together so I had to wait about 10 minutes. I didn't mind because it gave me more time to preview the menu. I ordered 5 cream puffs so that I could share with friends and get their opinion. My first bite was the Churro cream puff. I was extremely disappointed. I thought there would be a punch of flavor, however the shell was bland as well as the vanilla cream. It just wasn't spectacular. I was expecting an amazing product and instead I got a meh. I tried the remaining cream puffs with friends and the overall consensus was that none of us would be repeat customers. read more

I don't understand all the positive reviews...I ordered a honey butter and chocolate, both filled with vanilla cream and they were completely stale with no "puff" whatsoever. Likely because they just have the shells sitting out behind a glass case - it doesn't take a pro pastry chef to know that Denver dryness will not do wonders for pastry, particularly one which has 'puff' in its very name. They were also so poorly prepared that when I bit into them the cream came spilling out from all sides (probably also due to them being so dry). The one redeeming quality was a decent vanilla cream, otherwise my $8 was completely wasted on these two terrible pastries. read more

Delicious cream puffs. I stopped by today to get some cream puffs and thankfully the line wasn't that long. There were about 5 groups ahead of us, but the line went quickly. The staff was warm and welcoming, and answered all our questions before we ordered. We got a cookies and cream, green tea, strawberry eclair, honey and butter, and an original. You get a choice of filling, and they fill the cream puffs right in front of you before packaging them. The cream puff has a crisp outer shell but soft interior. The filling tastes not too sweet, and it doesn't leave a weird film on the roof of your mouth. All in all, it was a delicate treat that I would love to get again! read more

I'm not sure what place these other reviewers are visiting. This was my first and last visit to Beard Papa's. Overpriced and under-delivered. I purchased 3 full size "cream" puffs and 6 mini's. The cost was $20!! (I'll come back to that). Instead of a delicious cream-filled dessert, I received 9 pieces of deep fried dough with little to no filling. This wasn't dessert, this was a big crouton. And for $20 bucks! I could have bought two dozen filled donuts at dunkin and they would be tastier than this. The mini's had almost no filling and hardly any powdered sugar leaving me with the aforementioned deep-fried dough. The regular chocolate eclair had a thick, hardened layer of dark chocolate. While I'm not a fan of dark chocolate, it would have probably been okay had there actually been the vanilla cream I ordered (and paid $4 for!). Plus, the chocolate was thick and hard, like it had been sitting there for hours. Right off the top of my head, I can think of a half dozen places I could spend $20 for dessert better than this. I brought my family with me for this thinking it would be different and delicious. Instead I should have stopped at king soopers and bought a box of frozen cream puff and a box of eclairs for $8 and they'd taste better. What an embarrassment! I won't be back. Save your money! read more
