Such a fun space! I came by on a weekday around lunch time and there were only a few other people in the shop. I tried two cream puffs -- one green tea eclair shell with matcha filling ($3.90), and one original shell with vanilla filling ($3.50). In both puffs, the fillings were awesome! The green tea eclair shell just tasted like thick white chocolate (not my favorite), and the original shell was a bit unexciting with my choice of vanilla filling. Next time I will opt for a "more exciting" shell for the vanilla filling...the honey butter and chocolate eclair shells are calling my name. I was not sure what to except other than a cream puff. My daughter and I were shopping and we felt a Japanese cream puff was in order to reward our day of walking. The shop is clean and we loved the decor. The staff treated us with great customer service. We were encouraged to be creative with mixing fillings, but we wanted to keep it simple for our first rodeo. Original with vanilla cream - The Choux pastry is a vessel for deliciousness and the vanilla bean cream is delish. The cream texture is a little thin and the fill the puff to extreme. Caution: you almost need a fork or spoon to eat Crispy Almond with brown sugar boba filling - This was the staff fave and my daughter's fave. It was kind of like a flat, fried donut and the filling was tasty Honey Butter with vanilla cream - The staff told us it is a customer favorite, but both my daughter and me thought it was too sweet. I would not order again. The vanilla cream is thinner than I expected, but the flavor was fantastic. You either eat the puff there or I would suggest taking home and putting in frig for cream to set (puff will probably soften). So excited that Beard Papas has come to Denver! They are working out the kinks of a new opening, but the product is worth it. Would recommend the following for a better experience: 1. If there is a line outside, bundle up. The front area is a wind tunnel and can be chilly. 2. Just send one person in your group to order and wait. They do their best to socially distance, but it gets crowded inside, especially when waiting for your puffs. Plus, it may help the line move faster. 3. Review the menu: basically, pick a shell and pick a filling (e.g. original shell with vanilla filling). This will help move the line faster. Also, it might be helpful for the owners to post up menus along the wall so folks are prepared before they get to the register. The puff shells are heavenly smelling and delightfully light and eggy. The vanilla cream had a great taste (not too sweet!), but was a little watery than what I've had at other stores. We ended up here on a whim for their grand opening and what a sweet adventure it was. I'm not normally one to stand in long lines...not even for Disney however, for a decent pastry I can't make exceptions. We waited for about an hour with our 3 kids which was probably too much but we want them to learn the best rewards have an adventure to get through. The cream in the middle was so light and airy, while the pastry was crispy and melt in the mouth yummy. There is a lot of flavors to choose from but my favorite is plan with vanilla in the middle or chocolate. Hubs loved the plain with vanilla. We decided to stop here since it's right next to Ding Tea and it's a nice way to eat a solid sweet thing to add onto our sweet milk teas lol Very cute interior design and I had no idea about being able to customize the cream puffs! Let me tell you something about me - I'm not even a big fan of filled things. Usually I find whatever cream or jam or jelly inside something is just TOO MUCH. But Beard Papas is a different story. I had the pleasure of trying these delightful cream puffs many years ago in VA and I was impressed then. I had to take a trip into this new CO store and I am still impressed now! These cream puffs are flaky and light and the chocolate (or green tea or strawberry or whatever they have for the day) coating on top is GENEROUS and delicious. And that cream! Is it too much? Yes, but in the best way possible! They fill these puffs to the brim with the creamiest, smoothest, lightest cream in the land and I am a big fan. You choose your cream puff and then you choose your filling. Trust me, no bad combo exists! The line was pretty crazy the first couple of days of opening (as Colorado apparently likes to do), but I have been twice now and they've only been open a couple of weeks. I am happy to report that both times there were only a couple of people in front of me and no one had to stand outside. If you've never tried a Beard Papa cream puff, you are in for a treat. Second day opening, waiting in line for an hour. Staff was quick and safe, all wearing masks and indicators to let make sure people are keeping their distance. I fist discovered Beard Papas years ago in San Francisco and anytime we were in Cali, this was one of the kids request for dessert. When we saw they were coming to denver, we were ecstatic!! We got 6 minis to instantly inhale and a random mixture of different new flavors. Oreo with vanilla, s'mores with matcha and choc with vanilla. All were good but the honey butter was my fav. Such a cool "bakery" tucked away in this plaza. I am very happy for my visit. I was not familiar with this brand before going to see them, so when I parked in this mild-traffic plaza, I was surprised to see just how cool this shop is! Well-lit and colorful, you enter descending the staircase and immerse yourself in the Beard Papas brand. Fun, poppy wall paper. Neon slogans. And a very friendly and helpful staff. You immediately feel engaged and welcomed when visiting. When it comes to these cream puffs, you select your shell(s) and a cream filling. When I was there, there were a select few options of shells (Original, Honey, Strawberry, Green Tea, creme brûlée), and three creams (vanilla, rose, and green tea). I believe these rotate, so you can always come back for a new experience! I ordered an original shell with rose and a green tea shell and green tea filling. I thought the flavor profile on the latter would be redundant but the cashier said that was actually a crowd favorite. After trying it, I absolutely understand why. The cream puff was rich and sweet without being over-the-top. The original/rose combo was delectable and I am very happy that I framed the rose cream filling with a "original" non-coated shell so I could really frame that rose flavor. Personally speaking, I love botanical flavors. So I thought it was this was light and fresh without being too "perfume-y". 10/10 for me. Something I had on my radar was a boba filled creampuff in a matcha shell. However I had visited on a week day and was explained that they typically only do boba cream filling on the weekends. I never thought I would see a Beard Papa's outside of CA and was super happy to see one came to the Denver area. Since food pilgrimages are my life long hobby, of course I dragged my enabling sister with me as we reminisced about our visits to the downtown SF food court where we used to purchase Beard Papa cream puffs. We both ordered matcha éclair puffs with matcha fillings, then I also ordered plain cream puff shells with chocolate and vanilla fillings. After arriving home, I tackled the matcha first because they always ran out of that flavor in CA. The puff and filling were heaven, if a little runnier than I remember. Strong matcha flavor, I felt the matcha glaze on the shell made the filling ooze and didn't add much flavor. Next time I was save a bit on the shell and just order a plain shell with matcha filling. Today was my first time there. I was there around 3p.m. on Wednesday. When I went in, there were only two people sitting down and had already been served. The lady working there didn't acknowledge me for a while, and when she finally decided to help me she had the most unpleasant attitude. She made me feel like I was bothering her or something even though she wasn't doing anything nor helping other customers. To make the matter worse, she didn't fill one of the three puffs I purchased. I bought original with vanilla filling and crème brûlée with vanilla, and Oreo with chocolate filling which she didn't fill. The texture of the choux was not exactly the same as what we get in Japan, neither as the filling. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about Beard Papa's and finally decided to try! I went at 5 on a Thursday evening and was the only one there, which was awesome! I tried the chocolate cream puff with strawberry filling and it was so tasty. Definitely a messy snack so don't forget to grab napkins but it was such a fun dessert. The strawberry filling was delicious as well. The flavor wasn't artificial at all, it tasted like real strawberries. Overall, a great dessert but when it comes to something sweet it wouldn't be my first choice. I'd prefer ice cream if going out to dessert. So I have had the pleasure of having Beard Papas cream puffs back in Korea Town in Los Angeles and I was hooked! So these last few weeks I saw there was one that just opened right here in Denver. The shop is right on a corner spot of the building. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. There are some stairs to traverse , not many. There are social distance markers and only a few people in at a time. Everything is covid safe; masks , workers wearing gloves , plexi barriers everywhere. Very quick easy ordering of your cream puffs. They have a case displayed on the counter. The manager was very kind as we chatted a bit about the LA locations. There is contactless payments and cash allowed. You order your shell : chocolate, cookies and cream, green tea ect. Then you can chose your cream filling flavor. They give you a number , and you can watch them fill them right there. Very nice quick ordering and hand off , then you're on your way. While my customer experience at this particular location was not ideal, I won't hold it against the actual cream puffs... but I'll talk about that later. I originally tried Beard Papa's in the Bay Area, so a lot of this review will be based on that comparison. I loved that the shells are ready to go and be filled! I believe the filling change daily or weekly, and when I came in, there were only two options: Original Vanilla or Vietnamese Coffee. I ordered 5 total: 2x Original (vanilla filling) , 1x Oreo (vanilla filling), 1x Green Tea (viet coffee filling) and 1x Creme Brûlée. Hands down, the vanilla filling is supreme! But that's only because the viet coffee filling was too powerful to go with the green tea eclair. I maybe would have liked it better if I did viet coffee filling in an original shell. Stick to the original shell and vanilla filling if it's your first time, you can never go wrong with it! My overall impression is that the cream puffs are good, but this location has very limited selections. Finally, the creme brulee "dessert" was just a burnt on top original cream puff... not worth the extra $ or calories, just avoid it. My customer experience was meh. After I ordered my 5 items, I saw a promo on the TV: "buy 5 get 1 free". So I asked the employee if I could get my free cream puff and she said, "you only ordered 4" (not being specific that the crepe brûlée was considered a dessert and not a cream puff). Me, being confused, said that I wanted her to redo my order so that I can add an additional order so that I can get my free puff... and she just told me that she couldn't redo my order but didn't give me a reason as to why she couldn't. Couldn't she just ring me up for one and give me another free? She didn't offer any solutions to my inquiry... so that was a bit deterring. Great cream puffs! I can say I was in the proud 100. I got there @ 10:30am with already a super long line and ended up waiting 2 hour and 1/2. Was it worth it... yes! So how it work is you pick a shell then you pick a filling. They have 8 different shells and 3 different fillings. The shells they have, original, chocolate, honey butter, strawberry, green tea, crunchy almond, s'more, and Oreo. The fillings they have vanilla, green tea, and boba . I ordered the original with boba, honey butter w/vanilla, strawberry w/ green tea, and a green tea w/ green tea. I wanted to get almond but the sold out . Out of all of the fillings my favorite by far was the boba filling with original. It was not over sweet and you could taste the cream and the boba balls. The honey butter smelled amazing and you could taste the honey butter. The strawberry and green tea were not overly sweet which I appreciated it. First had these delicious Beard Papa's cream puffs inside Uwajiyama in Seattle. It was love at first sight. Basically we go get some whenever we are in Seattle or Vancouver, BC. I was excited when I learned BP coming to Denver. We drove by around 6:30 pm today and my husband went in as they were not busy. It took a little over 10 minutes for my husband to order and get our cream puffs. They were out of green tea fillings so we had al vanilla fillings. We got one order of mini cream puffs, 1 strawberry shell, 1 green tea shell, and 1 original. The cream filling was a bit too diluted. It literally dripped onto my jacket when I took a small bite. I had the green tea shell. The shell had no green tea flavor and very sweet. The frosting on shell was hard probably from sitting too long. Overall the puff was not as airy or fluffy compared to the minis. My toddler had the strawberry. I didn't try her's so can't comment on that. In addition, it didn't have that much cream inside. Based on this experience, I would recommend getting the minis. It was definitely much more airy and soft with just the right amount of cream for its size. It is not overly sweet like the flavored shells. I think my husband also said it was better priced compared to the original size. read more

So, first off, let me say I love Papa Beards! Unfortunately my experience as of late was not up to par. The guy working there says his manager refuses to replace the ice cream, and it been bad for 3-4 months, so they refuse to serve it (which I appreciate). My husband went there a few weeks ago and was told the same, so we're stuck with the cream, but not ice cream. So today I paid for my order, told the guy I would be back to pick it up (I had an appt within the same plaza), but when i got back, there was a note in the window stating they had to use the bathroom and would be right back? First of all, it's a cream puff business. The doors were locked so I waited 15 for him to "come out of the bathroom", who wants cream puffs if you're going to the bathroom? Are you putting something extra in it? Second, Then when I told him how long it was, he denied it. The whole time I was talking to him, he had gloves on his hands, and kept touching his face, his hair, his anything that could be touched, so I have no clue if he even changed them.Anyways, I love this company, but they need to step it up. He's supposed to be training some new owners.......but idk......this is the only location available right now, so I hope it stays open, but I won't be going back for a few months........ read more
