It took me a few visits here to get my order down, but I love both the chocolate eclair and chocolate filling. I like that they change out shells and fillings occasionally. I took my friend here for his first time today and he enjoyed it! He mentioned that there was more filling than he expected. I think these are best fresh when the shell is still a little crunchy and the filling is rich and smooth. Beware: eating these cream puffs can get a little messy! There wasn't anyone else in the store on a Saturday afternoon and we picked up our order.
This unique Japanese style custard filled doughnut is one of a kind experience. All the flavors are fun and mostly fresh. A few donuts don't sell as fast as others so try an original. The staff are friendly and patient, can't wait to return!
I love, love creme puffs! So glad that Beard Papa's is here in Denver. The creme puffs are fluffy and love the variety of the fillings.
Got some sweet treats at Beard Papa's for the first time yesterday. As much as I wanted to love the experience, I left feeling super disappointed by the food and service. When my family first walked in, we greeted the employee and she completely ignored us. Didn't say hello back, didn't ask us what we wanted, didn't offer any suggestions or explain how ordering works (you choose a cream puff flavor and then a filling). It was a little mind blowing to see someone that disinterested in their job. So that didn't make a nice first impression of the business. The cream puffs were largely a disappointment. I got two and my husband got two. All of them tasted stale. I had one Oreo and one original. I liked the Oreo topping, but not the chocolate filling. The original was just a bummer all the way around. The puff was hard and flavorless and the green tea filling tasted bland. My husband ordered a churro and a chocolate puff. The churro one didn't even taste like a churro. It didn't have enough cinnamon flavor at all. The chocolate was very mediocre in terms of quality. I found them very runny and messy to eat. The fillings left a lot to be desired since everything was rather flavorless. The only thing that seemed half way decent was my son's chocolate fondant cake. I think this place is very overrated based on my personal experience and I would not return. Save your money and go somewhere else!
I went here with some friends and we had a great time! The parking lot is big. It's shared with other surrounding businesses. There was construction in the parking lot right in front of the store. So we had to park a little ways away. The store is on the corner and it's kind of tucked away because you have to go down a flight of stairs when you open the door. If you don't know what you're looking for it is hard to find. Super friendly staff. We were greeted with a friendly hello. They have plenty of seating so I was surprised that there was no one down there. My friends and I stayed and chatted for a little bit. It was nice and quiet with light music in the background. when we got there, there was little options so I do suggest going early :-) I got a strawberry cream puff filled with vanilla. My friend got a churro filled with chocolate, and my other friend got a churro filled with vanilla. I really enjoyed the vanilla filling. It's very sweet and has vanilla bean paste in it. My favorite flavor! My friend described the chocolate filling as a Wendy's chocolate Frosty. After tasting it myself, I agree haha it was not my favorite flavor. We all got an original that comes with the vanilla filling. I personally love the original :-) I really wanted to try the Oreo and the s'mores. So I will definitely be showing up earlier to try and grab those :-)
Really great service! This was my first time here and I was a bit confused on the menu and the cashier explained the options and even recommended some favorites of her own! I decided on the crème brûlée and plain vanilla with powdered sugar. I have to say that unexpectedly plain vanilla stole my heart. The pastry was fluffy and a bit crispy too and the cream had the perfect balance of flavor and perfect amount of sweetness! Definitely recommend giving this place a try!
Nothing like Beard Papa and Ding Tea to cheer us up on a gloomy day! Tried the crème brûlée and it was stellar!! Always fast friendly service with chill ambiance!
Cream puffs are delicious! There are different flavors you can add as a filling and it's very creamy and not too sweet! The cream puffs are a tad pricey for one but it's pretty filling! There was nobody in the store but there's an ample amount of seating and made the cream puffs very quickly.
Mixed feelings here! Not a huge cream puff lover to begin with so unfair to give a bad review based on that alone but the cream puffs were stuffed to the max with cream so I couldn't really taste the pastry and it was hard to taste the speciality flavors like crème brûlée and Oreo. Location and decor is very cute with lots of decoration. Menu was easy to understand and colorful. Unfortunately the green tea filling was out when we went on a weekend afternoon so we didn't get to try it. Overall, the place is cute and puffs are good as a novelty every once in a while or if you are really craving one.
Such a cute store! Loved the decor and it was super clean. Also completely empty on a Saturday afternoon. We tried the original with vanilla cream and the s'mores with chocolate cream and the crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was my favorite. It was so flavorful and it tasted so good. All the choux dough and the cream was so light and not too sweet. Was pretty messy because they were filled with cream but they were so good! Highly recommend!
Beard Papa's has DELICIOUS cream puffs. They are the perfect sweet treat. They offer a variety of flavors and you can choose which cream flavor you want to stuff inside - regular, chocolate, or green tea. The customizable aspect makes for a unique experience and so much variety.
A great little dessert! Nice flaky crust and sweet and creamy filling. Can choose from vanilla chocolate or green tea filling and a bunch of different cream puffs to make it your own! Perfect for a little sweet treat!
A small piece of Osaka heaven right here in Denver. I ordered the traditional puff filled with the matcha green tea filling and crème brûlée filled with vanilla cream. Both were so delicious I was kind of bummed that I had to share them. The shop is cute and conveniently located right off of I-25 and Colorado Boulevard. The staff was nice and helped me make great decisions on which puffs to get! Be back soon!
Such a fun space! I came by on a weekday around lunch time and there were only a few other people in the shop. I tried two cream puffs -- one green tea eclair shell with matcha filling ($3.90), and one original shell with vanilla filling ($3.50). In both puffs, the fillings were awesome! The green tea eclair shell just tasted like thick white chocolate (not my favorite), and the original shell was a bit unexciting with my choice of vanilla filling. Next time I will opt for a "more exciting" shell for the vanilla filling...the honey butter and chocolate eclair shells are calling my name. The cream puffs are a very reasonable size and not too overpriced for the concept. read more

I was not sure what to except other than a cream puff. My daughter and I were shopping and we felt a Japanese cream puff was in order to reward our day of walking. The shop is clean and we loved the decor. The staff treated us with great customer service. We were encouraged to be creative with mixing fillings, but we wanted to keep it simple for our first rodeo. Original with vanilla cream - The Choux pastry is a vessel for deliciousness and the vanilla bean cream is delish. The cream texture is a little thin and the fill the puff to extreme. Caution: you almost need a fork or spoon to eat Crispy Almond with brown sugar boba filling - This was the staff fave and my daughter's fave. It was kind of like a flat, fried donut and the filling was tasty Honey Butter with vanilla cream - The staff told us it is a customer favorite, but both my daughter and me thought it was too sweet. I would not order again. The vanilla cream is thinner than I expected, but the flavor was fantastic. You either eat the puff there or I would suggest taking home and putting in frig for cream to set (puff will probably soften). I want to go back and try other flavors and their cream brûlée, fondant and cheesecake desserts. Price $3.50, $3.70, $3.90 Worth trying. but not worth breaking my neck to get one. read more
So excited that Beard Papas has come to Denver! They are working out the kinks of a new opening, but the product is worth it. Would recommend the following for a better experience: 1. If there is a line outside, bundle up. The front area is a wind tunnel and can be chilly. 2. Just send one person in your group to order and wait. They do their best to socially distance, but it gets crowded inside, especially when waiting for your puffs. Plus, it may help the line move faster. 3. Review the menu: basically, pick a shell and pick a filling (e.g. original shell with vanilla filling). This will help move the line faster. Also, it might be helpful for the owners to post up menus along the wall so folks are prepared before they get to the register. The puff shells are heavenly smelling and delightfully light and eggy. The vanilla cream had a great taste (not too sweet!), but was a little watery than what I've had at other stores. The green tea filling was just the right consistency and taste - highly recommended. read more

We ended up here on a whim for their grand opening and what a sweet adventure it was. I'm not normally one to stand in long lines...not even for Disney however, for a decent pastry I can't make exceptions. We waited for about an hour with our 3 kids which was probably too much but we want them to learn the best rewards have an adventure to get through. The cream in the middle was so light and airy, while the pastry was crispy and melt in the mouth yummy. There is a lot of flavors to choose from but my favorite is plan with vanilla in the middle or chocolate. Hubs loved the plain with vanilla. Looking forward to going back and giving other flavors a go. read more
My friend and I just saw a line and thought we should just try it. Little did I know how popular these guys were. I can't give them a bad rating because of COVID and the wait. This rating is for the cream puffs!! Let's just say they are truly pretty amazing. It's not overly too sweet. at $3.70/puff, you can't go wrong with any of it. First, you pick your outer shell puff, then you pick the cream you want stuffed in these glorious mouthgasms. I was only here to get one, but because I stood in a 2.5 hour line, I bought 10! I will wait till this crowd dies down and then come back for more. read more
Not really sure if I've ever tried the one in California before, but I'm glad I tried the one here in Denver! We decided to stop here since it's right next to Ding Tea and it's a nice way to eat a solid sweet thing to add onto our sweet milk teas lol Very cute interior design and I had no idea about being able to customize the cream puffs! So far it seems that you can just pick any combos and it'll turn out pretty yummy. I definitely will return to try other flavors and combinations! read more

Absolutely to die for!! Makes us want to move to Colorado just for this. The chocolate filling is so creamy and milky I absolutely loved it. The price is right for them too, they're actually a little big! We weren't expecting that for sure, this place was absolutely delicious. read more
Second day opening, waiting in line for an hour. Staff was quick and safe, all wearing masks and indicators to let make sure people are keeping their distance. I fist discovered Beard Papas years ago in San Francisco and anytime we were in Cali, this was one of the kids request for dessert. When we saw they were coming to denver, we were ecstatic!! We got 6 minis to instantly inhale and a random mixture of different new flavors. Oreo with vanilla, s'mores with matcha and choc with vanilla. All were good but the honey butter was my fav. Just the right amount of sweetness and then crispiness really took it to a different level. Once the crowd dies down, we for sure will be driving down more often! read more

Visited this location on a Monday evening and was happy to find that there was no line! The cashier greeted us and I told her I haven't been to a BP in a few years. She recommended her favorites and what was available. We need up getting the Oreo, Honey & Butter and Almond. They were all honestly very delicious and fresh. The cream filling wasn't too sweet which I liked. It didn't over power the taste of the pâte à choux. Will definitely return and try more flavors when I'm in town. read more

I've never considered myself to be a cream puff person- (whatever that means) but at my friends wedding a few years ago I had what I consider a life-changing cream puff and ever since then I've been trying to find a quality cream puff! I guess I only needed to wait 3 years and my dream came to life in the form of this amazing and unique cream puff shop! Yes the name is weird, but honestly, you won't forget it and the little logo guy is kinda fun! Anyway, if you need more cream puffs in your life this place will not disappoint. They're on Colorado Blvd right across from Sees candies so you can chase your cream puff with some chocolate if you're into that. The fiancé and I went to grab some cream puffs to go during their opening week, we thought the decor was cute and wow it smelled amazing. We tried a variety of puffs including the s'mores, creme brûlée, chocolate eclair, and matcha green tea. Omg, I'm not kidding they were so good I almost cried. The crunchy outer shell with the smooth cream that really packed a punch flavor wise! Overall our favorites were surprisingly the matcha and the creme brûlée, you just can't beat the caramelized sugar top and the subtle sweetness of matcha! Please go check this place out, you will not regret it! read more

So stoked Beard Papa has come to Denver! These little confections were even more delicious than I remember. This is a Japanese chain known for making some of the most delicious oversized creme puffs ever. The way it works is that you choose your cream puff shell flavor and creme filling. The fillings and shell flavors change regularly. They taste like crispy creme filled heaven! The pastries aren't too sweet and jar so light and airy. Definitely order a few extra because you'll want to take home a few for later! read more
I'm soooo glad they have one here in Denver finally!! That being said I don't know if they just taste better in Japan but they weren't quite the same as I remember them from my time there. Still very delicious! I'm hoping the hype dies down a little but not too much because I want them to stick around but I also don't want to stand in line for an hour!! Granted I went on the second day they opened so.... They do have a new filling that I'm not familiar with.... they brown sugar boba which I'm going to try the next time I'm there. For everyone worried about covid, everyone was wearing masks and all employees were wearing gloves. They have hand sanitizer at the cash register and marked areas for social distancing. I will be back in a few weeks to eat more cream puffs! read more
Such a cool "bakery" tucked away in this plaza. I am very happy for my visit. I was not familiar with this brand before going to see them, so when I parked in this mild-traffic plaza, I was surprised to see just how cool this shop is! Well-lit and colorful, you enter descending the staircase and immerse yourself in the Beard Papas brand. Fun, poppy wall paper. Neon slogans. And a very friendly and helpful staff. You immediately feel engaged and welcomed when visiting. When it comes to these cream puffs, you select your shell(s) and a cream filling. When I was there, there were a select few options of shells (Original, Honey, Strawberry, Green Tea, creme brûlée), and three creams (vanilla, rose, and green tea). I believe these rotate, so you can always come back for a new experience! I ordered an original shell with rose and a green tea shell and green tea filling. I thought the flavor profile on the latter would be redundant but the cashier said that was actually a crowd favorite. After trying it, I absolutely understand why. The cream puff was rich and sweet without being over-the-top. The original/rose combo was delectable and I am very happy that I framed the rose cream filling with a "original" non-coated shell so I could really frame that rose flavor. Personally speaking, I love botanical flavors. So I thought it was this was light and fresh without being too "perfume-y". 10/10 for me. Something I had on my radar was a boba filled creampuff in a matcha shell. However I had visited on a week day and was explained that they typically only do boba cream filling on the weekends. Oh well...guess I'll have to come back. Side note: they also do cream puff minis if you're looking for a less "committal" snack. read more

Today was my first time there. I was there around 3p.m. on Wednesday. When I went in, there were only two people sitting down and had already been served. The lady working there didn't acknowledge me for a while, and when she finally decided to help me she had the most unpleasant attitude. She made me feel like I was bothering her or something even though she wasn't doing anything nor helping other customers. To make the matter worse, she didn't fill one of the three puffs I purchased. I bought original with vanilla filling and crème brûlée with vanilla, and Oreo with chocolate filling which she didn't fill. The texture of the choux was not exactly the same as what we get in Japan, neither as the filling. I love the concept, but to receive a zero star customer service especially from a Japanese company is a shame. read more

Japanese Creams Puffs FTW! Despite this being a chain dessert restaurant with hundreds of locations, these cream puffs are really good! First, you choose the flavor of the cream puff shell and then the filling.. very easy. The honey butter shell with vanilla frosting and the churro shell with taro filling was delicious.. highly recommend the taro filling. read more
I've been hearing a lot of buzz about Beard Papa's and finally decided to try! I went at 5 on a Thursday evening and was the only one there, which was awesome! I tried the chocolate cream puff with strawberry filling and it was so tasty. Definitely a messy snack so don't forget to grab napkins but it was such a fun dessert. The strawberry filling was delicious as well. The flavor wasn't artificial at all, it tasted like real strawberries. Overall, a great dessert but when it comes to something sweet it wouldn't be my first choice. I'd prefer ice cream if going out to dessert. While everything was good and the staff was friendly, I'm not sure if I'd come back unless I was getting treats for an event or birthday. Still recommend giving it a try, though! read more

So I have had the pleasure of having Beard Papas cream puffs back in Korea Town in Los Angeles and I was hooked! So these last few weeks I saw there was one that just opened right here in Denver. The shop is right on a corner spot of the building. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. There are some stairs to traverse , not many. There are social distance markers and only a few people in at a time. Everything is covid safe; masks , workers wearing gloves , plexi barriers everywhere. Very quick easy ordering of your cream puffs. They have a case displayed on the counter. The manager was very kind as we chatted a bit about the LA locations. There is contactless payments and cash allowed. You order your shell : chocolate, cookies and cream, green tea ect. Then you can chose your cream filling flavor. They give you a number , and you can watch them fill them right there. Very nice quick ordering and hand off , then you're on your way. Love that the cream puffs are the right amount of crispy and chewy crust I remember from other locations. That chocolate shell was perfect , mmmm ! read more

I have been waiting for them to come to Denver, and finally you are here!!! Today was opening day with buy one get one per transaction. The first 100 people also get a lol swag bag. I can say I was in the proud 100. I got there @ 10:30am with already a super long line and ended up waiting 2 hour and 1/2. Was it worth it... yes! So how it work is you pick a shell then you pick a filling. They have 8 different shells and 3 different fillings. The shells they have, original, chocolate, honey butter, strawberry, green tea, crunchy almond, s'more, and Oreo. The fillings they have vanilla, green tea, and boba . I ordered the original with boba, honey butter w/vanilla, strawberry w/ green tea, and a green tea w/ green tea. I wanted to get almond but the sold out . Out of all of the fillings my favorite by far was the boba filling with original. It was not over sweet and you could taste the cream and the boba balls. The honey butter smelled amazing and you could taste the honey butter. The strawberry and green tea were not overly sweet which I appreciated it. But by far my #1 recommendation is original with boba filling. I will be back read more

We came for their grand opening. We didn't know it was their grand opening. We waited almost an hour. It was cold, but the smell of what was cookin' kept us warm. We finally got in. We ate. We saw. We conquered. We were fat & happy. Try one. Try two. It's ok to cheat on your diet for one day. You have to go here. read more

First had these delicious Beard Papa's cream puffs inside Uwajiyama in Seattle. It was love at first sight. Basically we go get some whenever we are in Seattle or Vancouver, BC. I was excited when I learned BP coming to Denver. We drove by around 6:30 pm today and my husband went in as they were not busy. It took a little over 10 minutes for my husband to order and get our cream puffs. They were out of green tea fillings so we had al vanilla fillings. We got one order of mini cream puffs, 1 strawberry shell, 1 green tea shell, and 1 original. The cream filling was a bit too diluted. It literally dripped onto my jacket when I took a small bite. I had the green tea shell. The shell had no green tea flavor and very sweet. The frosting on shell was hard probably from sitting too long. Overall the puff was not as airy or fluffy compared to the minis. My toddler had the strawberry. I didn't try her's so can't comment on that. In addition, it didn't have that much cream inside. Based on this experience, I would recommend getting the minis. It was definitely much more airy and soft with just the right amount of cream for its size. It is not overly sweet like the flavored shells. I think my husband also said it was better priced compared to the original size. read more
