I was feeling pretty homesick on my trip, and then I saw Beard Papa's. The lady working there was pretty nice. The cream puff was fresh out of the oven so I had to wait but it was worth it. So, so yummy! As always! They have a sign up that they aren't part of Uwajimaya. I'm glad they're there.

Bearded Papa's such a Beaverton gem. My go-to is their matcha green tea filling in their puff shell(I knocked off a star because the recent one I tried was lacking green tea flavor). But maybe it was just an off day. Besides that, Bearded Papa's is one of my favorite desserts! A nice crispy shell FILLED with creamy filling. Their flavors rotate, so thats always fun!

Love, loyalty, and cream puffs. Anyone that doesn't love a green tea or chocolate creme puff can't really be trusted (or loved) ... which is why I'm a loyal lover of Beard Papa's. Any BP outpost is trustworthy to go out of my way to deepen the bond I have with this papa. It's a simple relationship. I give papa cash. Papa gives me cream puffs. Devotion and adulation lead to a 5-star review ... except when that transaction breaks down and a scorned suitor sadly shuffles away in dissatisfaction. Beard Papa's in Beaverton was sold out of cream puffs. Lucky them. Heartbroken me. My letdown was compounded when papa tried to convince me that something hyped as a cream-filled Paris-Brest will be just as bewitching. It wasn't. A pair of green tea "matcha" Paris-Brest were filled with the same creamy magic as the puffs, but the dry circles of disappointment were rocklike. I'd call them Pass-Worst. After failing to rekindle my love with Beard Papa's, the drive home from Beaverton was long and lonely. Of course, one visit or one dry pastry won't break my loyalty or love for Beard Papa's Cream Puffs.

So, I haven't had too many cream puffs to compare to Beard Papa's. Beard Papa's was pretty busy when we walked in. There was only one person working, but we didn't have to wait too long. The man working behind the counter was super nice! He greeted us when we walked up and was patient as we asked questions before we made up our mind. My family and I (all four of us) got the same exact thing when we came here. I know...super creative. We got the eclair shell stuffed with the mocha filling! Although the shell was harder than I expected, it was still super delicious! It is a pretty messy treat!

Worth the hype!!! I can't believe how delicious the cream puff I got today was. (Regular with vanilla) it was fresh and clearly was just made right before I ordered. It was overflowing with cream filling & a bit messy (not that I mind!). Bigger than I expected. Perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Love that it's located inside Uwajimaya too! Will be coming here again soon.

Wow they really fill these up, almost too much cream. The chocolate topping is too thick and hard, so it makes the cream puff difficult to eat.

Beard Papa's has been around in Japan since 1999 and since then it has expanded to about 20 countries. There are a few locations on the west coast and this location in the Portland metro area is one of them. It is located in the Uwajimaya Japanese market in Beaverton. As you walk in the entrance if you immediately turn to the left you will see Beard Papa's several meters ahead. It is in a corner part of the store where you can get take out. I felt it was a bit darker in this part of the store and could have used a bit more lighting. We walked up to the counter and the worker was busy with another customer but she still greeted us and told us she would be with us shortly. When it was our turn she was both pleasant and professional and was willing to talk a bit about Beard Papa's for my friend who had never been here before. The main reason to come to Beard Papa's is for their cream puffs with flavored fillings. They will usually have a sign by the register with the flavors of the day. Today the had Vanilla, Chocolate, Dulce de Leche and Green Tea. If you are curious they can let you taste the different flavors. Some of the other flavors they offer are pumpkin, espresso, pineapple, cookies and cream, strawberry, apple cinnamon, cherry, peach and cherry, coconut cream, mango, Azuki, Nutella, black sesame, hazelnut and others. It depends on the location of the store. Ask what flavors they will be rotating so you have an idea which ones will be available. They fill each pastry shell in front of you. They have several different pastry shells available. They have the original shell, the eclair shell covered in chocolate and the Paris brest shell that is round and looks a bit like a donut. All of these can be filled. They have other pastries available as well and they rotate some of them. They have a chocolate and a green tea fondant of which I prefer the green tea. They had cheesecake and lemon poppy seed manacha as well. We decided to purchase a box with all of the different flavors they had available. I felt the best flavor was the green tea. My friend felt the chocolate was the best. These cream puffs are very filling and just one of them was enough for me to eat at one time. I like that they put napkins inside of the box since I forgot to ask for some. Next time I stop at this Uwajimaya I will probably check to see what flavors they have available and pick more up! Thanks for great customer service and good cream puffs.

I thought we'd go there for some to-go, and hubby found a parking spot, just around the corner, in the shade. As he was turning right, I also spotted a 'bakery' written on the window. I was thinking of waiting for him, in the car, and just grab a chicken sandwich. But, after he left, I decided to go inside the bakery to browse. He was standing at the corner, reading the menu of the shop, when I called him to 'Come over here!' I didn't know what I just walked in. Ooddles & oodles of cookies, cakes, pastries, sandwiches, like a one-stop bakery, cafe to-go. I started to take a video, of the whole shop, but sadly, as I turned it off, I realized I was just turning it ON! Instead of buying one sandwich for each of us, we ended up buying 4 of our 'look scrumptious' pastries that could fill us up. (Photos are not good quality, because I thought I was video-taping it. That's the result!) We each shared everything! We both agreed, it was probably one of the best lunches we've eaten. The pastry were still warm, the cheese in our ham was melting in your mouth. The spinach was just out of the oven. Everything was just wonderful! We will surely stop by here again, and buy twice as much, should last us a week. Maybe freeze some, so when we are tempted for some pastry, we are ready!

My family came in needing to buy slices of cake we were ready to purchase and a line was forming and we were the first in line yet the workers were just standing in the back behind the cakes chatting. No one paid ANYONE in line any attention. We usually have such amazing service, quick, attentive, helpful. But maybe at the end of the day they don't look towards the door or maybe the tea was just too good to stop chatting about. Either way, hope they get trained to know when customers are lined up and ready to buy that they should try to get them taken care of so that lines don't form behind them.

The fact that you responded in that way to a very detailed review asking me to email 'details' of my experience shows just how little this company cares. You just post these 'oh sorry we fell short' responses and never follow up. My review did explicitly detail the issues and frankly I have spent way too much of my time already trying to get a response to the disappointment in a shop I have spent a lot of money in! Let's face it, your pastries are not inexpensive. But that's not really the point, as I am never concerned with price if it is something I enjoy. The point is the all around disrespect and the total lack of customer service. I left, as I said, 3 messages, and no one felt compelled to reach out to address or apologize for ANY of the issues I detailed, from the smashed, ill-packaged pastry to the fact that not one employee in all the times I was in there spending money since that location opened ever mentioning a rewards program- ever. So don't try to tell me you 'strive for excellence', that's just a slap in the face in what honestly already feels to be an already insulting situation.
