I am pretty biased because I love it cream puffs. Like ones from Costco from the freezer section. I was telling my wife if she could make a large version of that. She took me here as a surprise and I blew my freaking mind. In conclusion, I like it when you call me Beard Papas. read more

Tonight at 7:20pm I walked into this establishment and waited almost 10 mins calling for someone in the back. Finally a guy comes in from the front door and proceeds to reprimand my son who was still trying to call for someone in the back. I told him that was very rude of him to talk to my son the way he was being that we were waiting for almost 10 mins and we were actually concerned that maybe something happened to the employee in the back. He continued to argue and not even apologize. We left and didn't give your establishment our business nor will we ever after this interaction! Maybe your employee needs to not be strolling the street and leaving your business empty and if he is put a sign out to let customers know when they will be returning. read more

I went in today for the first time and ordered a box of 6 cream puffs and was super excited to try all the flavors. After I had ordered and paid I was informed that they were out of all the flavored fillings which was super disappointing. I wish I was informed that they didn't have any of the flavors because what was the point of a custom box when they were all going to be the same. I even told the guy I wish he told me they were out before I had paid because I wouldn't have gotten them and he ignored me. I even asked which was a popular one and he said the strawberry and they didn't even have the strawberry filling. read more

I had them before in nyc soo when I saw in yelp they were here I drove but I have to say careful on parking it's not super easy I went mid week off peak but during peak I can imagine it's a pain. Think about the fillings you want prior of making a big order as you will want to personalize filling and if you want a coating. Absolutely addicting my sons wanted to know if I got more. We had smore. Oreo, green tea etc read more

I went late at night, sit here was no line, but there was little selection for the puffs. It's alright though because I ordered the cookies and creme puff with hazelnut filling and they had that in stock. The creme puff was soft, airy, and delicious. The filling was flavorful and not too sweet. Can't wait for the next flavor I'll try! read more

Ordered a box of 9, I have to say the churro shell with vanilla filling was my favorite!! It was so yummy I want to go back for more, my nephew loved it as well. The manager was super nice and very patient explaining the menu to me and sharing his recommendations. I would definitely make the drive from where I live to get these cream puffs. read more

Finally got a chance to stop by this place this afternoon. I've been wanting to go since they opened, but I refuse to wait in long lines, so I gave it a chance to simmer down. I went at about 2:30 on a Friday and walked right up with just one guy in front of me. Ordering is easy and the staff was super friendly. I ordered: chocolate shell chocolate filling, almond crispy shell vanilla filling, strawberry shell matcha filling, honey butter shell vanilla filling, plain shell vanilla filling, plain shell brown sugar boba filling. My order was ready in just a few minutes: the wait was quick. Candidly, the hubby and I gobbled them up before getting a picture of all of them and I remembered halfway through... anyway, all were delicious except the matcha. Matcha tastes like sticking your face in someone's lawn and eating a face full of dirty grass. Matcha isn't for everyone - it definitely isn't for me. Some people like it though, and if you're one of them, you'll love the matcha cream puff. The rest of the puffs were delicious. The cream is perfectly creamy, silky, sweet. The shells have a great softness and crunch at the same time. Size is good, except the almond crispy is a little on the small size. They sit up front so you can see them. The honey butter shell reminds me more of a crispy caramel (like croquembouche if you're familiar). The Brown sugar boba filling is an additional monthly flavor, which was tasty and I'd definitely get it again. The vanilla filling is classic. And the chocolate filling is well-balanced without being overly chocolaty. I'm glad this place opened up for when I'm craving a legitimate cream puff. I'm also looking forward to seeing what their flavors of the month and seasonal flavors will be. I'm sure I'll be hitting this place up again soon. read more

My friends and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon during their buy 5 get 1 free sale, so there was a long wait. I got three flavors: ube shell with ube filling, Oreo shell with ube filling, and honey butter shell with vanilla filling. They were good, but I didn't taste any ube. I think next time I'll try one of their green tea varieties. read more

I don't know what happened, but after ordering some cream puffs for delivery we both got an intense stomach ache after eating one cream puff each. I do not have any food allergies or dietary restrictions so I was not prepared for the world of pain I was in. I guess be careful if you aren't feeling too good. Flavor and texture was not to my liking, and I love eclairs and Japanese pastry flavors. read more

This Japanese desert chain gives E-claire a new twist! The puffs are so light and the cream filling is just the right consistency and sweetness. Together it makes a great puff pastry desert! We have had Beard Papas in Asian countries for many years and always love getting it during our trips. So happy to see this new location in our backyard! read more

I saw this pop up on Yelp and absolutely had to stop by after my facial across the street. I was immediately hooked when I saw the menu- matcha and brown sugar boba in one item?! Count me in! As a result- I got the matcha puff with brown sugar boba filling and let me tell you, it was amazinggg! The brown sugar boba filling was absolutely on point and delicious. It had actual boba that was soo tasty and perfect. The matcha glaze was perfect. The entire cream puff was heaven in a bag. I'm already dreaming about it again. The team was very kind and the location was perfect. Everyone needs to make their way over to Scottsdale Quarter to try this goodness out! read more

These are yummy but one cream puff is about $4-5. They have 4 different types of fillings and many different types of "shells". They introduced the ice cream filling but they were out of it when I went.. which was super disappointing. Also no one came out to the counter when I walked in, but I could hear people talking in the back. Then my bf walked in shortly after then they came out to take my order. Anyway cute little shop but too pricey for what they are. read more

It was extremely crowded on the grand opening day, which also attracted lots of other shoppers who did not know about this franchise. We waited 1 hour and 10 minutes in the line. The shell is very crispy and filling is cold, buttery, and light. I think the original shell is the best as other shells are overly sweet. All fillings are good, especially the vanilla and green tea. They don't sell drinks though; I guess because the store next door sells boba drinks. Overall, the cakes were satisfying; one can easily finish 2 cakes. read more

Quick service, super clean interior, and the different fillings were delicious. The shells are baked fresh in store so as they fill it, you get to bite into a fresh, crispy crusty layer then sink your teeth into the creamy fluffy whipped custard filling. Decided to try this place out after the hype died out because the long waits seem horrible. I can see most reviews are about the line & wait (negatively) but I'm only here to review the service and taste. Although when I came in on a Wednesday night there was no wait and everything came out within minutes. I got the original cream puff with vanilla filling and thought it was delicious! I enjoyed every bite. The pastry is a little too puffy for me where there are many bites of air but I think that's just how cream puffs are! (I don't eat them often). My friend got the strawberry cream puffy with matcha filling and said it was a little too sweet. She did finish it but didn't enjoy it. I totally recommend going for the original flavor first then expand! Overall the taste is pretty great. Service is good. Prices a little steep but worth for a one time try. Would come back! read more

We were immediately welcomed and the person at the register was so sweet answering our questions. The cream puffs were your typical cream puff x 10 ! Loved that you could customize your own and pick from a variety of flavors. We got the churro and honey flavors with green tea and vanilla filling. Party in your mouth for sure. Definitely not a walk and go snack lol way too much filing. Next time I'll have this at home with a cup of coffee. Such a cute quaint little place with a cool ambiance! If you love cream puffs, this place is your jam! read more

We were at Scottsdale Quarter the weekend they opened but the line was around the corner. We were back there this past weekend and found no line when we arrived. Great! We walked in but held back a bit to look at the menu board since we'd never been there before. Service was just ok. I asked what the horchata cream tasted like and was told cinnamon and it's like the drink. I mentioned I was originally from the east coast and while I'd heard the word before, really didn't know what it was. She didn't seem to want to offer anything more than that and didn't seem very interested in talking. We decided to get 2 each to try a variety. I went with horchata in a chocolate puff and vanilla in a strawberry. Hubby had a churro puff and a plain puff. I know he had chocolate cream in one, but can't remember the other. We brought them home and ate them a little later in the day. Flavor always decent. Puff was big and airy, although a little hard on some edges. The cream inside didn't fill all the air pockets, but if it did, it probably would have been too sweet. We'll probably stop in on occasion when in the area, but won't really make a special trip. read more

These are just weird. They don't taste like a traditional crème puff and they are a nightmare to try to eat. They have enough filling for three pastries in each one. This is one concept that I cannot believe is still in business. It's some type of fair food gone wrong. Much better places if you actually want a pastry. read more

First time we visited was on a weekend and the line was out the door (but the shop is very small and everyone was giving each other space) Line moved quickly and we didn't have to wait very long for our order. We tried several shells and fillings. My favorite is a toss up between the green tea and chocolate filling. Both so so good and not too sweet. Pastry shell was perfectly crunchy and soft and aromatic. We have since returned on a weekday evening and were pleasantly surprised with no line and even quicker turnaround on our order. We will keep returning! read more

Well damn I just had the best cream puffs ever. It's really cream puffs on another level. The only reason a star is missing is because of the price. They're not cheap. $4+ for a cream puff, that's a tad bit too much. Other than the price, they're AMAZING. read more

So yum delicious. Highly recommend if you're looking fir a sweet treat! They're bigger than regular cream puffs. You choose the shell: regular, chocolate, strawberry, or green tea. Then creme: vanilla, chocolate, green tea, and brown sugar boba. My fave combos: regular with brown sugar boba and green tea green tea. The cream puff is the size of a fist. To be eaten same day. Crispy outer shell, chewy inner shell and filling is full. Can be messy.. GET NAPKINS! Love that they expanded to AZ! read more

Delicious as always!! We got a variety and everyone loved the flavors. Especially the matcha green tea. We ordered online and downside of that was that the option for minis was absent. read more

I love to try all the new places and saw some of our local foodies hyping this place. I remembered it and we stopped by the Quarter specifically to grab one or two. So things to know the Quarter is not about ease of parking, so unless you are lucky and can get a parking in front of it (used to be Original Press coffee location) you have to park in the parking garage. The cream puffs were ok, not sure it was worth the effort. We opted for chocolate eclair with vanilla, churro with vanilla and the honey and butter with vanilla. I will give you this lots of Cream in the pastry but the shell was nothing exciting. Maybe it was because it was mid day and they were making new shells. Glad we tried anyways. read more

Long line but probably because it's new. The cream puffs were delicious. I got the honey butter, son and wife got the chocolate dipped and other son got the boba filling (special of the Month). The pastry was flaky and light and the cream was pudding like. Got a couple of originals for my in laws who gobbled them up as well. A bit pricey for the size but I'd get it again for a special dessert or a splurge while we visit the Quarter. Location is the old PRESS coffee which has now moved to the north end of the mall complex. Still waiting for something to go into the old Stringray Sushi location. read more

The name is weird, the concept is weird, but the cream puffs are to die for! So pleasantly surprised! I had the Honey and Butter cream puff with the vanilla filling. They were out of the flavors I went there to try (I should've called ahead) and parking was a nightmare (not their fault) BUT the choux buns were so crisp, the tops were perfectly sweet, and the fillings were smooth and delicious. Could we get the hours updated? Google, Yelp, and the Scottsdale Quarter website says this location closes at 9 pm, but it's 8:35 pm and it's locked up and lights off. Drove 30 minutes here one way, I would appreciate it if you could update the proper hours. Thanks! read more

I was always a fan of Beard Papa's in NYC so was very happy to see them come to Scottsdale. On my first visit, I was a little surprised to see the prices as compared to NYC, but it is Scottsdale and prices are inflated here. When I got the cream puffs, they were so stingy on the cream that I felt I was eating a pastry shell. Needless to say, very disappointing, but I wouldn't rule it out until I try it again. My second visit, I was surprised when she rung up the cream puff for a total price of $4.11...so when I gave her $5.11 she had this confused and bewildered look on her face and then proceeded to give me 89 cents in change. It's so sad how dumb some kids are...I blame that on the school system and management for not making sure the person at the register is proficient in math. The cream puff was better on visit 2, but I think I'll just wait to go back when I'm in NYC. read more

Both the crème brûlée and vanilla were delicious! The service there was helpful, and the place had a fun look.

I need to confess, I'm a dessert guy so I was super excited to try this new place. I arrived at 7 pm and was promptly told that only the regular or chocolate puff was available with only the chocolate filling. After my look of disappointment, she offered that they were closing soon, thus the shortage. Really? You were still open for another 2 hours. The only product you sell are cream puffs. Granted, normally they have 4 different shells and 4 different fillings, but still. I reluctantly ordered the chocolate shell and the chocolate filling. The puff was $4.65 plus a $1 tip. That's about a $1 per bite. The experience was good, the shell has both a crispy and chewy texture and the filling was sweet but not too sweet. I am not sure it was worth the anticipation or hype. I may be back to try some other flavors and will update this post. read more

Delicious cream puffs friendly staff. You can pick your puff and filling flavor. They are filled after you order.

Oh...My...God - I can't believe I didn't know about this place until tonight. We had early dinner reservations across the street and decided to wander over to see what so the commotion was about. We watched the line get bigger and bigger down the block to order. We felt incredibly lucky when the line went down and the couple in front of us decided to just come back tomorrow. We were then told, there's 4 cream puffs left - 2 strawberry and 2 green tea. That was exactly the amount we needed. We had all 4 cream puffs filled with vanilla cream and then the store closed behind us. We drove all the way home without trying them ( I'm so glad we did not attempt to eat these in the car as they are messy). I just ate my green tea vanilla cream puff and I seriously wish I had just one more. Well done and I'm so glad we've stumbled upon each other. I'm very happy to highly recommend going early to this establishment and try them all before they sell their allotment for the day. read more

went on a saturday afternoon and while the line wasn't very long it took probably 30 minutes to get our order for just 2 cream puffs! pretty ridiculous after we waited only about 5 minutes in line. definitely need to figure out how to speed that proceeds up as it looked very inefficient... anyways we only tried 2 - the original cream puff with vanilla which was okay. then we got the chocolate eclair with chocolate filling and that was definitely the winner. i thought the vanilla one was just bland. they're pretty messy too- we ate them about 30 minutes after we got them and the filling was very oozy at that point. also these aren't cheap - it's like at least 4$ per cream puff... not sure it's worth it but i guess it's a novelty dessert. probably won't be back! read more
